Finally, we are free, free at last. We have FINALLY left Lazydays....left late this afternoon but we are out of there. At least we don’t have a definite time schedule we need to keep so we were able to finish up all that we wanted to do before flying the coop. Once we made our way to our familiar, well used waiting room, Darnell (our service assistant since day 1.....oh, my....how many days ago was that?) came to us and said we could go pay our bill and they would bring out RV around and we could go. Kind of like it was being held hostage. Cory said he would like to see our bill and go over it with him first....s-u-r-e. Soon he came back to us and brought up our bill on his IPad ... read more

Happy New Year to each one of you. We wish you all good health, happiness and peace for this new year. Cory and I AND Lulu are all warmed up for the big celebration tonight. We are so ready. We are back in the RV, under warm blankets, watching CNN with Anderson Cooper & Kathy Griffin as they moderate the ball drop in Times Square. They are so funny. Probably won't make it to midnite but I leave the TV on in case we wake up around the time when 2016 becomes 2017. Yippee. Happy New Year! ???? What are you doing? Hope it is as exciting as our festivities. Toto....are we really in Florida? It seems so cold here. Brrrr. Took a long time for our 2 furnaces to warm up our RV this morning. ... read more

Yikes....it seems to be getting colder the further south we go. Wearing heavy coats and wrapped in blankets with heater on is our garb for the day. We left the motel this morning at 8:45 AM .....glad to leave that one behind. Right now it is 10:30 and we are 13 miles from the Florida Welcome Center. We'll surely stop there to give all of you a bathroom break. Way too many of you for the one in our RV. Lots of RV's and police on the roads today. We are presently using a new app that our son, Cory, said he uses. It's great...I think so anyway. It's called WAZE. It's a GPS of sorts but so much better than our Tom-Tom. It speaks to you with all the alerts. Obviously for "police ahead" and ... read more

After moving to Florida, Mark and I were eager to get back into our camping routine. We discovered Ocala National Forest, just a couple hours north of Orlando, and a couple very established campgrounds. Juniper Springs - November 2015 Our first camping trip as Florida residents was to Juniper Springs. As a recreation area, there are both day use and overnight activities. They have a swimming hole, canoe rentals, the Florida trail*, campground with flushing facilities, and a little convenience store. We were going for the experience of being removed, and did not check out the store at all. It was a well-maintained campground, and I would visit here again. We saw a couple signs of large wildlife – there was a deer grazing just beyond the campground, and a pile of bear poo on the ... read more

Woke up nicely this morning with only good thoughts about going home and seeing our family and friends back in Shongo. Our wonderful Tropical Palms friends came by to wish us a fond farewell. A sad moment as we looked back in the mirrors and saw them waving goodbye. But we shall see them again, which makes our goodbyes more like “See You Soon’s” -- that's easier to take. Lulu blubbered as we crept our rolling house out of the park and onto the highway. Smooth sailing…..traffic lessened as we left the metropolis of Disney World behind. RV was riding nice….humming along…..the RV as well as ourselves. All’s well in our part of the world! OR SO WE THOUGHT! What is that horrible buzzing alarm sound? Dash gauge reads “ Coolant…Temperature Hot”----CHECK ENGINE!! Cripe! Jeekers! Dam! ... read more

A couple of years ago, we went to Silver Springs Nature Park which is located in the city of Ocala in Florida. Ocala is a quaint little town where horses are bred, and it is known as the "horse capital of the world." It took us only about an hour from Orlando to drive to this park. Being a weekend, there were a lot of people on this nice day. A car show was also being held there which added to the atmosphere. Although the weather was quite hot we enjoyed going around the place, and saw a lot of fauna in their natural surroundings. We took two short river cruises, both times in a glass bottom boat and we could see different species of fish and amphibians underneath the boat, not to mention the alligators ... read more

The one about spending time in Florida’s Horse Country What gorgeous facility. I have some concept of equestrian centers from my time at Kristine’s in Utah. The place where grand daughter Maggie takes lessons is wonderful and lovely. This place is fabuluous. 452 acres of green rolling land (Lake County, FL is known for it’s hills). There are fenced grazing pastures, open arenas, covered arenas (please note they are plural words), bed and breakfast type cabins for ordinary visitors. 42 full hook up RV sites for people like me to enjoy the facility, or for use at any of the 36 weekend events they have already scheduled for 2015. There are RV sites in the woods, RV sites attached to small barns and fenced pastures so you can camp with your horse. There’s a restaurant with ... read more

Silver Springs State Park, Ocala, FL I arrived in this park on Thursday afternoon and here it is Sat night and almost time to leave. I have had a great time hiking, flee marketing and attending a knap-in. This is another jewel in the crown of the state parks in FL. I am so grateful that our fore fathers had enough insight to preserve these natural wonders for generations to come. This park is another natural spring that flows into the St John River that eventually flows through Jacksonville and into the Atlantic Ocean. It flow north. This spring discharges 516 million gallons of water per day and creates it’s own river. It is a preserved area so the water is pristine and the jungle a fabulous habitat for all wildlife including monkeys, yes monkeys. Kat ... read more

Today started out cool (long sleeves for me) but warmed up beautifully. I didn't get out of bed until 8:30, slept right through breakfast. When I took Oscar for a walk I found out the group was going to tour a horse farm. My ears perked up and my feet started moving as I had 10 min to walk the dog, eat breakfast, grab jacket, water and money. We ended up going to a Gypsy Vanner Horse Farm that is world famous. We all know what gypsys are, but vanner had me stumped. Turns out it is the old English word for horse able to pull a wagon. So this is a farm for horses that pull gypsies wagons. The owner Dennis Thompson, researched for over 2 years and finally gained the confidence of the gypsies ... read more

I woke early, had coffee and a shower by 6:30am. The showers here are unbelievable. They have separate rooms with toilet, sink and shower beautifully maintained and cleaned. Great set-up. Oscar and I went for a walk as the sun rose higher increasing the heat. Then it was off to the community room for breakfast of waffles and sausage. It was a feist. At 9:40 we jumped in cars and headed off to the flee market. For the life of me I can't understand what people get all excited about with flee markets but there was great anticipation. I ended up getting produce, strawberries, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cantelope, tomatoes and sweet potatoes. My vegetable level is low. When I got home I cut up a tomato and ate it on the spot. Boy was it good. ... read more
