Friends and Family. My Dad and I are currently in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We had a great time bicyling round in Hoi An, Vietnam. We were out in the countryside around rice paddies and remote buddist temples, then came to the beach and some fishing villages. We ended up catching a plane to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) as it was only $20 more than the 20 hour bus ride. We also bumped in to some friends that had been partying with us in Hoi An the night before. We went for an evening tour of the city and celebrated our friend Mayte's birthday. WHile our friends went motorcycling to the Cu Chi Tunnels, we decided to catch a bus to Cauh Doc on the border of Vietnam and Cambodia. This meant that we could ... read more

Hello Friends and Family, I am back on the road travelling again. This time with my father. We are exploring Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. We arrived in Hanoi, in Northern Vietnam, on September 6. Hanoi is a busy city with moto-scooters everywhere. We visited the local templs, the Temple of Literature and the Masoleum of Ho Chi Minh, then we escaped out to the coast to Halong Bay. We spent two nights aboard a junk boat, visiting spectacular caves and soaking in the rocky scenery. We kayaked for two days around the bays, to the floating village, beneath arches and into one cave (with a wind-up flashlight) which led to a hidden bay. Yesterday, we caught the Reunification express to Hue and took a boat ride up the Perfume River to visit the Perfume Pagoda ... read more

Ann and I embarked on our 10-day loop tour of British Columbia, Washington and Oregon on Friday, June 26. We visited the Okanagan Valley to enjoy some wine tasting and purchased more than we were supposed to for our later US border crossing. We continued on to Nelson where they were holding an after work festival in honour of our arrival. We stayed at a fantastic B&B called the Cloudside Inn, which was run by two travel- and photo-savvy owners. The next day, we attended Erin and Kris’ wedding. Erin and I went to UBC together over a decade ago. And that night we partied with old and new friends alike. We managed to get an early start the next morning and covered a lot of ground, following the Columbia River canyon, stopping in at Hunters ... read more

Hi Friends and Family, We have finally got internet access on the last day of our holiday in Mexico. We have had a fabulous time whale watching, sun-tanning, snorkeling, boogie boarding and hiking around Nayarit, Mexico. We have met lots of great people and Steven got his money´s worth of alcohol at the all-inclusive bar. We have all been enjoying guacamole, fajitas, giant prawns, and even some grade A Alberta beef at the local hangout - Tequila Willy's. We have been to tourist markets, local markets, five beaches and one island destination. All in all, a great trip. I will post the photos when I get back home..... The photos have been posted. Our Hotel is Decameron Los Cocos in Rincon de Guayabitos, Riviera Nayarit. While it was only a 3-star resort, it was much better ... read more

Hi Friends and Family, I'm a bit late in sending this blog but I thought I'd catch everyone up with my wanderings around Stockholm. The Stockholm archipelageo consists of around 24,000. I travelled to as many of them as possible, which was about 30. You can see some of them in the photos. Even the main palace and the old part of town (Gamla Stan) are on an island. I got to see several viking ships in both Oslo and Stockholm. The Vasa was so big that I could't fit it into one picture. But I recommend the Vasa Museum to anyone that is visiting Sweden. ANd definitely try the chocolates and the ice cream - they are both of the finest quality. I made some great friends (Kiwis, Germans, Greeks and Americans) who accompanied me ... read more

Hi Friends and Family, It seems that everywhere I go I'm surrounded by Vikings. There are all sorts of treasures and ships at some of the famous Viking landing points in Denmark (such as Roskilde) and in the capital of Norway: Oslo. After a night out at the Trivoli Gardens (Disneyland meets Scandinavia), with an Aquarium, China Town, Rides and a Rock Concert, I arose before the sun to leave for Norway. In Oslo, I found more museums an new palace for their relatively new monarchy, a harbourside castle in the Oslo fjord and one angry dinosaur at the back of the history books. I have lots of exploring and plundering still to do. I will be visiting the Viking museum and taking a 2 hour cruise of the fjord tomorrow. Intresting fact: The Sea Stallion ... read more

Friends and Family, I arrived in Copenhagen on Tuesday and have been all around the Zealand Area and even into Sweden. I met up with a couple people and travelled around Copenhagen city seeing lots of Palaces, a Fortress, Museums and even a Little Mermaid Statue (very famous due to the Hans Christian Anderson story). I caught a train up to see Fredriksborg Slot (castle), Kronborg Slot (also known as Shakespeare's Hamlet's castle), then the Karnan Tower and the Malmohus castle in Sweden. I didn't make it back over the 7.8 km Oresund bridge joining Sweden and Denmark until late in the day. Today I caught a train to Rosklide and Lejre and visited an archeolgical experimental centre, the famous Rosklide cathedral and the viking museum. The Rosklide cathedral contains the graves of all of the ... read more

Hi friends and family, It's been a long time since my last entry. I'm finally back travelling again after almost a year. I'll be sending you all blogs of my Scandinavia trip in the next couple weeks. Today, I've got family and friends photos from home and England. I arrived safe and sound on Saturday and visited some of my favourite haunts. Hello Friends and Family, Just a quick update that I landed safely in South Korea. I departed Shanghai on the new Maglev train reaching speeds of 430 kph. I met up with my great friend, Jesse, from Royal Roads and he told me about all the best sites and even loaned me his Lonely Planet. With bookk in hand, I managed to get to see five of the palaces, many gardens, city gates and city fortress walls. All of the ridiculously difficult Palace names are included on the photos. You can only find things on maps over here as street addresses barely exist and not in any discernable pattern. Having a great time, I'll be back in Vancouver tomorrow, technically before I even leave Korea (with the time change), so I'll see some of you for ... read more

Hi Everyone, Another update from my Asian travels. I left Xian on Friday. I visited the old City Wall and the Terra Cotta Warriors. An amazing collection. I have been in Shanghai about 4 days. I was fortunate to meet up with Jason's friend Jennifer, so I had a personal tour guide for the last couple days. I've included photos of the Shanghai skyline and some of my forays into the city markets and gardens. I rented a bike in neighbouring Suzhou (Venice of the East)and rode around the city. I felt like one of the locals, braving the crazy traffic, trying to catch fish in the canals, and eating finger food from the street vendors (could have been anything). Shanghai is a busy city, the gardens and attractions are tucked away in the southern Chinese ... read more
