Girl, you are crazy. We went up to Glacier this past year and there is
no way I am climbing that! Congratulations on achieving what you did.
It is truly glorious up that high.
Enjoyable I was glad to hear from you and to see the pictures. It makes me want to see and gather as much as I can while there I am glad to know that there are people like the two of you to give so much to pople like those you meet and teach. From the scenes I have seen, I am really anxious to get there and hope that we will be near enough. I will e-mail you the list of places that I will be stayin.
WOW!!!!!! what a difference!!! Shasta,
Thanks for getting me on your travelblog list - I so enjoy seeing and hearing the things in your blogs. I can't help but think how SO easy we have it here in the States. It would do all of us good to have to experience what other people deal with everyday. That is the reason I encourage anyone I talk to who has never been out of the country to go SOMEWHERE and see how other people live. Our girls are experiencing that for the first time this year. Electa and Donny went to St. Martin the end of March on spring break. They were amazed at how the local people live and how they have to work so hard just to survive. Julia and Jason will be going to Jamaica in September. I was really shocked at how poor that country is. And I know this is nothing compared to what you see there - but you still get a taste of what life is like. It puts things more in perspective and humbles you at the same time. I am continually mindful of you and Anthony and the wonderful work you are doing. You are both amazing!!!!! And we love you!!
Got to close for now - keep the letters coming. God Bless You!
Hello ...... Thanks!!! There are days when the rain will get to you ... but we pretend we are in a raft and here we go .... Hello .... in Swahili is ..... "Jambo". Maybe I need to do a small blog on Swahili words.
Great pictures I love to see the pictures. There was no need to title this "Not Lazy! Just Busy!. Everyone that knows you and Anthony knows that Lazy is not a word in your vocabulary! Love you and miss you.

Sew Be It Rita, Thanks so much! I am having the time of my life! Both with the Bible studies and with the quilting. If you would also like to be on our newsletter list let me know!
If I had only known...I am the Queen of purchasing fabric with good intentions and never completing the task! You are such a treasure to teach them and love every second of it. I'm struggling home schooling 2 and you had a room full of all ages...I'll remember you the next time 2 seems like more than I can do. :)
Just Wonderful!!!! Shasta,
Such a delightful work and to see the beautiful creations that these wonderful ladies have done. What an accomplishment!!!! And for so many loving babies!!!! Please share with them my love and goodwill for the work that they are doing. And to you - God's richest blessings to continue with you in this work. We think of you and Anthony daily.
I am speechless by this story. How precious are all the hands that worked this wonder. And how amazing the delight must be to give them to sweet babies. May God continue to bless this wonderful work.
Amazing Grace I was sent your blog by a friend. I am truly amazed at the work that is being done over there. It's all about Him. Thanks for the sacrifices that you have made to tell a lost world about his grace. I will keep you in my thought and prayers.
A Family Affair! This is truly a blessing to see the families working together.
We should have the zeal that these families show. If we did, the church in the states would grow with love and understanding. We send our deepest regard for you both and for the work at Arusha!
Thanks so much!!! We loved having Joshua here and thanks for the words of encouragement. As for the quilting I was TOTALLY shocked at how well they have done. We are close to having the first set of lap quilts ready to be tacked to take to the children at the orphanage. And don't worry I have LOTS of pictures .. so when we get a little further on the project I am going to do a whole blog on just that. We have met formally twice so far, but meet and talk after Church to at least one or two of the ladies each service. They bring me the ones they finish and I give them more to sew for that week. One lady told me "This is the best gift I have ever received"! What a compliment! We hopefully will be able to get a reported to take the story when we go to the orphanage. A great boost for the ladies of the Church!
Congratulations! Glad to hear that your container has arrived. A welcome sight, I'm sure. Hope everything arrived in good shape. I enjoyed the blog and pictures very much. Thanks for taking the time to share what's going on. Looking forward to seeing you! Joy
HOW MUCH IS THAT DOGGY IN THE WINDOW? YOU TWO REMIND ME OF THE STORY : "THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD"...........I THINK I CAN.. I THINK I CAN..I THINK I CAN.........YOU ARE NOT JUST TALK. YOU ARE WORKING, BUT SHASTA I HEAR HAPPINESS IN YOUR VOICE. IT SEEMS TO BE A DIFFERENT KIND OF "TIRED" THAN THE RAT RACE OF NASHVILLE DRIVING, WORKING, ETC. YOU WERE GIVING US A FEW PRICES. ANY MEDS THAT YOU OR ANTHONY TOOK/TAKE...........WHERE WOULD YOU GET THEM? ARE THEY MORE OR LESS EXPENSIVE. OR DID YOU THROW THOSE MEDICINES OUT THE WINDOW. WHO KNOW, YOU MAY NOT EVEN NEED ANYTHING, LIVING IN THIS LIFE. I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION? WHAT IS YOUR MAILING ADDRESS? DO YOU HAVE A PHONE NUMBER WHERE I COULD CALL YOU? THOSE ARE TWO THINGS I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE.....CALL SHASTA AND ANTHONY BROWN IN AFRICA, NOR MAIL A LETTER TO AFRICA.............SO WE'RE ALL ENJOYING YOUR ADVENTURE THROUGH YOU. I WILL BE IN TOUCH LATER ON. MY HUSBAND IS PREPARING OUR MEAL??? YES, I'M THE QUEEN BEE...LOL! LET'S ALL KEEP THOSE PRAYERS FLOWING.
LOVE, PAM
I miss you! Okay, I admit it - this is the first one I've had time to read. Just reading it though, I can hear your voice saying the words. I miss you. Life here is busy with four girls and work gearing up. The pictures are incredible and you look great (and very relaxed and happy!!). I hope Joshua is doing great and that you have a fabulous Christmas and New Year!!
May God Bless Your Work! Anthony and Shasta: Not enough time to do all the Bible Studies! That's incredible! I can not even conceive what it would be like to do a Bible Study and the students wanting me to stay on and on. God has truly blessed both of you with many talents and I firmly believe that you are where He intended for you to be. If and that's a big if, a couple came over to help, could they do much in two weeks? Saw Josh around Thanksgiving and offered Clyde a loan to see that he got enough to eat. He sure is a fine young man and both of you can be very proud. Thank You for your dedication.
How Much is that Doggy in the Window? We don't know the cost of the doggy in the Window, but your work is priceless in God's Kingdom. Every time that we receive a BLOG update, it seems that God is blessing both of your endeavors greatly. We are really enjoying your updates and so are the others at Bethel.
Northport, AL Shasta, Thanks so much for your informative blog. It is so interesting to read someone else's thoughts and How they perceive life in Africa. I look forward to hearing how the sewing projects go. I feel it will be a big success. Thanks for you and yours and the work you are doing. Your sister in Christ, Karen Latner
Pride: Shasta and Anthony: I have always been very proud of you and Anthony ever since I met you (after you'll were married). You are such a hard working couple for the Lord. You'll are always in our prayers. You may remember that we are now in Mississippi and enjoying retirement. Please tell brother Mwakabanji (sp) hello and that we still love him so much. Jean and Richard
My husband, Anthony, have returned from living in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. We moved there in October of 2006, and returned home in January of 2009. I miss it terribly! We are from Tennessee and have one son, Joshua. We were missionaries in Chimala, Tanzania from 1992 - 1995 and fell in love with the country as a whole. We came home, got some additional schooling, allowed Joshua to do all the things teenagers should do, graduate high school, and moved back to Africa. Have come home, Joshua is married. This journal is our ongoing story.
