Hey girl! I know the feeling. I'm doing it with the 3 boys. Just think, you will meet them very soon. Tyler will be a senior in high school and my baby Sean is starting Kindergarten with David in the 8th. Sean wants me to stay in class with him, I have a feeling he won't let go of my neck, and we will have trouble........... Makes me want to cry thinking he is growing up. Can't wait to see you. Val
family I loved this "journal entry" (I think it would be called that) and I see how important even your grown child is to you. How that you want people to know about him even though he's not coming to Africa with you. Your letter shows how important FAMILY is to you. He's a part of you, and you a part of him. I loved the way you showed some pictures of him and told the stories concerning him. Telling and showing about Joshua helps people understand even more about you. We feel the same way. Our family (children) are important to us. You're a wonderful writer because you write from the heart. You write with feeling. Sincerely, TG
letting go If you love them you are required to let them go-this boy is loved, I know that for an absolute fact, he is going to be a tremendous addition to the world he is about to launch into, what he needs is the same thing we all need, a little encouragement, a lot of prayers and a hug now and again just to let him know he will always be at home in God's Kingdom no matter where his mail comes to.
I just read your family story Dear Anthony and Shasta,
First, I can't believe that is the same "Josh" that I knew two years ago. Josh has muscles. He is a grown man. I know several of the people here, but it's great to see your family, Shasta too. Yes, you have every right to show off and be proud of your terrific families. After working with Anthony for just one year, I knew when Anthony has a plan, he follows through with it. I am so proud of you for following His path. God Bless You All!

Duct Tape Remember the time we traveled to South Bend for our day with Rory. My luggage broke shortly before our departure. Thankfully the administrative assistant at the training center was able to provide tape (not nearly as durable as duct tape....why didn't I have duct tape?). You wrapped my luggage about seventy-five times with that roll of tape. My luggage survived that way until we arrived back in Nashville, although it took about an hour to get all that tape off. Point being, I am confident you can survive with the most minimal of possessions....but take the duct tape just in case.
add to your blog list Hi, I probably didn't use the right terminology but please add Angie Baker (angeliabaker2@yahoo.com) to your list of people receiving the blog. She, husband John, and 2 little-bitty children are planning to come to TZ in march 2007. Asante sana!
love this shasta, this is a greatdea. only you could have thought this up, and made it very entertaining. keep up the good writing. love you all tremendously.
Shasta, you are so funny. and you know that Stephanie has everything you would want here, just borrow hers. ha.ha. I've got plenty of sunscreen, etc. I believe I saw mt dew just the other day (in cans!) With all of our children we got to bring more suitcases on the plane. But the extra luggage was also a pain. Can't wait for you to arrive. Trina
this is great! Hey Shasta, I have just now read through all your blog entries, and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. This is a great idea, and hopefully a great and easy way to keep in touch come October. See ya soon!
My husband, Anthony, have returned from living in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. We moved there in October of 2006, and returned home in January of 2009. I miss it terribly! We are from Tennessee and have one son, Joshua. We were missionaries in Chimala, Tanzania from 1992 - 1995 and fell in love with the country as a whole. We came home, got some additional schooling, allowed Joshua to do all the things teenagers should do, graduate high school, and moved back to Africa. Have come home, Joshua is married. This journal is our ongoing story.
