They say a picture’s worth a 1,000 words - but what if you can't see the picture? That's what this journal is all about. Painting pictures in words for you; our family, friends, supporters, and anyone else interested in our journey, so you can experience what you can not see.

I have determined that most everyone - those that are honest about it anyway - have an innate need to want to know what’s going on. It might be that we don’t all want to know what the best club is for the fairway, or which hair product keeps the frizzies at bay the best, or even which brand of peanut butter is the best. But when it comes to people we know, their lives, how they are, where they are, and what they are up to - we want to know. And sometimes the story is so good we want to know all of that same stuff about people who we don’t have a clue who they are. (That’s one of the things I am counting on.)

So, this journal will serve as a birds eye view for all of you. Feel free to ask any questions along the way, make comments, suggestions, and even pass on advice. I will do my best to keep it current and keep up with responses on a regular basis. Keep in mind, every day in Africa might not be note worthy, but you’ll be surprised at what does happen on a regular basis. Hopefully so much so, we will see some of you heading to Africa yourselves.

To start us off, let me tell you something about us. We met in college (Freed-Hardeman University). My roommate, Debbie, introduced us. Anthony soon after proceeded to tell us both we were not his “type”. His “type”, he said, was a long-legged blue-eyed blonde. If you noticed our picture above, you’ll quickly see somewhere along the way his “type” changed, as I am none of the above, even slightly!

After about 6 years of being married and trying to do all the right things, we decided we needed a change. Yes, we had the house, the car, the job, and the baby. But we also had, the mortgage, the car payment, the over time, and the babysitter. This wasn’t what we wanted out of life! SOOOOOO, we started putting out the feelers for job locations. In the fall of 1992 we boarded a plan bound for Tanzania, East Africa. Life would NEVER be the same! We lived in Chimala, Tanzania until April of 1995, when we returned to the states. Not a week has gone by since then, that we have not thought of Africa. We are now going on 22 years of marriage and find our selves almost 14 years to the day later, heading back to Africa again. Only this time, Joshua our son, is heading to college … without us. To be continued ….

to take notice. You will shortly be up for Blogger of the Week, so keep blogging and soon you will be noticed by a few more TBers. You will note from my blogs that I also have a missionary kid background.
