Geo: 47.0457, 8.30824Once again we were up early as today we are going on a self guided tour of Mount Titlis, so we went wandering into the train station for some hot food and coffee and also bought sandwiches to take with us as I had already checked out the menu from the restaurant on Mount Titlis and knew they were tourist prices!! We found the train to Engelberg, and we had 1st class tickets so went to carriage no 1. Straight away, off come all the winter woollies and we settle in for a 43 minute journey. As the train took off gently, the man sitting in the seats behind us asked " so what part of Australia are you from!!" They were from Toowoomba in Qld. The journey was picturesque, not a lot of ... read more

Geo: 47.0457, 8.30824This morning, after having not a very good sleep... Someone keeps snoring, we showered, then for breakfast we had leftovers from last nights dinner. We rugged up in our winter woollies in search of some shops that were open! So, up the "hill" once again!! We got up to where the Cathedral was, and as we crossed the bridge I asked some ladies where we could find a shopping centre. Well, back down the hill again, across another bridge, then around a few more bends in the road we found it. There actually wasn't a lot there, but we managed to find a supermarket open and bought sandwiches for our train trip to Lucerne. Clint actually bought a powerbank for recharging phones. We kept walking for at least another 15-20 minutes, came across the ... read more

Geo: 46.5196, 6.63212We waited until 6.30am for the breakfast room to open, and we were the only desperate ones in there, everybody else was still asleep!! There was a choice of breads, croissants, muffins, cereals, cheeses, meats, yogurts and fruit, oh and plus coffee!! We returned to our room, put on our warm jackets etc and what else do you do when it's too early to shop?? You catch the free transport and you go sightseeing at 7.15am!! As it was still kind of dark, we hopped off the bus and then caught the tram which apparently does a loop of the city, we went probably the wrong direction, we were meant to see the Old City, but our tram only went a few stops and then it was the end of the line, time to ... read more

Geo: 46.2, 6.16667After not much sleep, we awoke at 3.55am as we had a pick up for the airport for 5.15am. Final check of the bags, we waited in the lobby for the pick up. Still so many New Years Eve revellers going home after partying all night, we arrived at the airport, checked in for our flight, then headed towards the gate to where we hoped Nikki will be, after having a sim card in our phones that chewed through the data, I had to wait until we got through Customs before logging onto Wifi. Still no message from Nikki, we knew she had arrived, but weren't quite sure where she was. Eventually we got a message, and headed towards the gate. Nikki was quite frustrated as she could not connect to the airport Wifi, ... read more

Geo: 25.27, 55.33Today is Sue's 50th Birthday, time to celebrate in Dubai. We had a sleep in till 6am!! Yay!! This morning, after checking times for our tours, took the train to the Burj Khalifa, this time a little more relaxed, (? That's not how I remember it) but still needing to be back at the Hotel by 2pm, we split up so we could each discover the many shops at this enormous shopping centre. We were picked up in a 4 wheel drive and after picking up 4 more people we headed out into the desert, approximately 1 hour away. The desert is full of 4WD cars and there must be over 1000 out there as the side of the highway was full of cars and busses with no one in them. There was about ... read more

Geo: -34.872, 138.664The overnight flight from Singapore is a killer, if you get some sleep, it's good, but not this time, we had a snack not long into the flight, we watched movies, dozed for about half an hour then more movies, screaming kids.... So by the time breakfast came, the sun was already coming up. This flight arrived early into Adelaide, and after getting out bags and getting out of customs, we waited for Nikki, Silje and Grandpa to pick us up. Home to unpack our bags, constantly thinking " our holiday is over", but we have all the memories of our holiday with us forever by keeping a log of our trip with this Travelpod, a great way to remember everything we did.... read more

Geo: 7.94341, 98.2889At last a sleep in, 7am!! Today we have no plans for the morning so we are really going to relax, we started packing our bags, jamming everything in to make it fit, as we had to be checked out our room by 12pm. We showered and went for breakfast, and for our last breakfast, we had a table by the water like every other morning. It's so relaxing just watching the water! We checked our emails and then rang Nikki as she was working today, and we also spoke to Lyn to see what was happening at work. They're all missing us! Yeah right, loving it while the bosses are away!We then went and laid on the sun chairs relaxing but got too hot so we went for a swim, cooled off also with ... read more

Geo: 7.94341, 98.2889We decided yesterday that we would do Phi Phi Island for our last full day, so once again the alarm was set for 6am, giving us not much time for anything, but we had a light breakfast, quick check of emails then we were ready for our pick up at 7.20am. We picked up others along the way then we were off to the Marina in Phuket Town. We had a briefing about where we were going, then all 17 of us boarded the boat. Our first island was Maya Bay, this is where the film "The Beach" was filmed in 1999. As we pulled into the crowded bay, so many tourists were bathing where the boats were pulling in, totally ignoring instructions to move, so all the boats spray the tourists by lifting ... read more

Geo: 7.94341, 98.2889Finally, a day of relaxation, we got ready for breakfast and once again, we ate when we weren't that hungry! Lobby time to check emails and to send the travel pod story, we were deciding what we were going to do today, thoughts are, to go in on the shuttle, relax on the beach, have a massage on the beach, have a swim, relax, all those good things, but the other thing, Clint's suggestion ( not mine, I wanted to relax!) is to go on the 11.30am shuttle to Patong for some last minute shopping, so as we were walking back through the lobby, we saw Aroon, the driver we had on Sunday, so we asked how much for him to take us. For one way, it's 700 baht in a taxi, but he ... read more

Geo: 7.94341, 98.2889Alarm set this morning for 6am, and we're on holidays! Up again real early today as we had a boat to catch. With breakfast done, a quick check on the iPad for emails etc, then a final pack of our bag, we then waited in the lobby for our pick up. A van collected us, then we were off to the other side of the island, to Phuket International Marina. People were everywhere and we were all given wristbands of different colour. Groups were called for different tours. We set off to our first island to snorkel and swim, boats everywhere, just reversing into tiny spots in the middle of the ocean. Here, Clint made me do snorkelling, and we had underwater cameras to prove I actually did it ( and to take photos ... read more
