Left home at 7:50 alongwith DB. He was going by car today upto his place of work near Union Station. It started drizzling just after we got into the car and then started raining heavily on the way. We decided to go ahead..wait for the rain to stop and do some sightseeing or maybe just get back home if weather did not co-operate. Luckily for us it stopped raining after we reached there, but it was cold. So, got into the nearest Museum, the Postal Museum. Then went to the Botanic Garden where we spent a long time. Had no program for today. Watched couple of more episodes of 24. Did laundry. Lunch of bottle gourd kootu and kovakkai poriyal. Went early to the station, by 2.30pm and had to wait in the cold for more than an hour. Took the 3.53pm Amtrak train to Union Station, Washington (1hr.15mins). DB received us at the station and took metro to Shady Grove, which was another 1 hr. Then went home by car which was parked at the Shady Grove station (in the 6th floor!) After breakfast replied to mails and updated travel blog...my routine every morning. It has been raining non stop since Saturday night. Left at 11:30am and drove for more than an hour to Sabrina's Cafe. Lot of people were waiting in that small crowded restaurant and we also had to wait in spite of making reservations. They call out names from the reservation list as soon as there is a table to accomodate us. After brunch drove around downtown. Did a small city tour by car in the rain. Camcost where there was supposed to be a huge screen of 2000sq.ft. showing the history of Philadelphia was closed. Was up at 5:30 am. Had an excellent breakfast of granola-fruit-sweet yoghurt parfait topped with blue agave syrup. after breakfast R went for a long walk. Poornima had some calls to take. We explored the backyard with the pond and plenty of fish. Then settled down and watched a movie on Net Flicks called Shutter Island (Leonardo di caprio and Ben Kingsley). Then lunch followed by nap. Left at 2:30 with Poornima to Longwood Gardens http://www.longwoodgardens.org/ . We spent more than 3 hours in the garden. Left the garden at 6:30 and back home in 20 minutes. N wanted to join me for the morning walk. But we could walk only for five minutes. It was too cold and windy at 7 am. So we came back. I waited all day for the warm weather. It did not happen at all. Although sun was up and bright even at noon it was cold. Found the movie ‘Witness for the prosecution’ after over ten years of search. Great movie. After lunch slept till 3:25. Rushed to the school for the 3:30 appointment for N for the tour of classroom-Montessori Method in Sahana’s school. Then went to Shop Rite for groceries before returning home.
