I beleive that the causes of poverty in India are that people work hard but do not earn enough to get ahead in their lives. In the ragpicker system there is nobody compelling people to pay for the service, basically people relly on donations for their services. Developed countries like the US have trash systems, but they are much more organized and they are paid regular wages. the overall problem is that people are not being sufficently paid for the work they do holding them back in a life of poverty. However, it is a positive step that the government is trying to help them by suppling gloves, boots and aprons.
