So one of my fellow bloggers raised an import question, yes its great planning and getting excited about the planning, but were do you draw the line at planning? The are parts of my tour that have been bolted on after reading about someone else's impressions and views of somewhere i may have not considered or discounted early on in my thoughts/daydreams.The are places i feel/felt i have to include to tick off my to do list, so i have been there and maybe a bit of i have been there syndrome..................lol Other places i added and now im glad i have added them. one of my trips before this jaunt, was to Russia last year and i discovered after booking the trip, that in the hardline days when you could barter with Levis in Russia, ... read more

So the planning does not stop, i have my Aussie visa and i will have paid for my ticket by the end of June. I have searched through page upon page of hostels and after a recommendation from a native New Yorker i have met, i also meet people............i will talk to anyone.............lol So anyway i have decided to got to the Big Apple hostel...one block from Time square and pretty central to most things like the empire state building, central park etc. However i will hit New York before New Year and so i would imagine everything will be pretty booked up and so i was looking into booking the hostel now, However cause of the time of year the is availability....however its $205 dollars, this equates to £104 for 4 days accommodation......... however in ... read more

So the are so many guides out there and so the choice could be limitless, the are the well known guides like Lonely Planet and Rough guide and many more less well known. I had recently seem some rough guides at £3-£4 a time which ain't bad, but i just feel the is something about the Lonely Planet guides and then i noticed some fairly cheap on ebay and then i though i would check out Amazon and to my surprise even cheaper than ebay:0) The other plus to Lonely Planet is they do shoestring guides and they do them to continents as appose to the rough guides, had i bought the rough guides they are per country......i need a bigger rucksack....lol So anyway i could have 3 shoestring continent guides with postage for £38 or ... read more

Its amazing how time fly's by...........a month from today i will be 31.................when i was in my teens i thought the 30's was old, but now im in them i still feel pretty young. Also when i hit my 31st it also means it will be June and 6 months to go!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if it is me, but it seems as you get older that time goes quicker it doesn't feel that long ago that it was Jan and i was i Thailand and this trip/tour was a glimmer in my eye and now its racing along like an F1 car. Im now trying to create a top 5 or top places to see list for each country, when i get to each one i may go with the flow, but it always helps ... read more

So i have been doing cartwheels all weekend as i have firmed up my itinerary yesterday at Trailfinders (the agents im using)..........if anyone in the UK is reading this and needs to find an agent for a big trip or an RTW ticket...........then ask for Terrence Bibby at the Manchester office.....Terence is the salt of the earth. Basically since my initial visit to the agency he has reserved my first flight to NYC and then has been keeping a watching brief as the seats become available and had reserved the rest of US flights and kept an eye open for when my CA and SA flights became an option and he spent close too two hours with me yesterday making sure my itinerary became a reality and the was some slight plan changes in CA, but ... read more

So my mind is really boggled now.............i was planning to get a cash card to go with my debit and credit card on my trip and i looked into the post office Visa electron card and then someone suggested i look into the cashplus Mastercard and now i discover that American express have a cash card you can load up aswell. Choices?...........eh So im not sure how good a visa electron would be in far flung places and ive been advised the charges are not to great, the cashcard mastercard seems to carry a monthly fee:(...........the American express has a £1.50 charge for any amount withdrawn so not too bad if you take out big amounts and not frequent small amounts.........and rather than courier you a new card like the visa( £34 to courier a new ... read more

So nothing heard back on the visa yet.....ive checked online and no progress and no email or phone call or anything :( Im just conscious of getting it ahead of the cut off date....otherwise its £80 plus pounds of waisted and could have been used towards my trip.................so fingers crossed i get the visa and i get it soon. I now have the daunting task of trying to sort my travel insurance out, but its not as easy as saying will the is option b or option a. The are so many different insurers and different levels of cover and then the difference in price, i mean is it well i pay £200 and i don't get a claim paid out or pay £600 and any claims get paid. Most policy's will only cover you for ... read more

So Monday night i logged on to the Australian immigration site and went through the visa application and took the plunge and submitted and paid my $185 AUD = about £82.00 (allowing for currency fluctuations). So the whole time difference means it was logged on the Aussie time as the 01.05.07, so i can not just sit back and wait for my answer.......so i have been checking twice a day since Monday and it still shows its being processed...arrrrggghhhhhhh..............i want to know if they will have me:) A friend has told me Aussie women throw themselves at English and Irish guys........then i have heard the same said about the US............i will believe it when i see it lmao I went on a messy barcrawl at the weekend.................i left the house at 11am on Saturday and got ... read more
