Dear Stephen I don't really share your opinion. For your info, I have a family and travel a lot with them. I think your view is sadly a little "narrow". Why on earth would backpackers have a place for themselves...but why also do we need to consider backpackers as one and only type of individuals...the world is moving, and with it people a evolving...
It's supposed to be a secret? Stop telling people about this place please! the only thing that makes it better for me than other paradise places is the fact its the only one that hasn't yet been completely destroyed by tourism, but its getting there, sure you still might stumble out from a forest to an unspoilt beach with nobody else on it, but now most of the beaches do have families on them which ruins its remote apeal for real backpackers. I don't understand what the appeal is for those families who could go somewhere that caters for there needs better because the reality is there is nothing to do there exept sit on the beach, there's nothing else for children to do, plus there's nothing for adults to do after 6 pm. This is because there's only one bar and its terrible, the service, the beer and the price of the beer is ludacris. When I was there we entertained ourselves by setting up parties and writing music, if we like alot of people, didn't do this and make alot of effort it would have been boring, but that's what we love to do. Please stop promoting this place, holiday makers have taken over the rest of the world and made it all over priced and the same, all us travel adventurer's ask is one place to be left alone by the masses with their wads of cash that they throw around and drive the price up of things that are poor quality. The people here think all westerners are rich and way over price for everything even no matter how much you bargain and there's no such thing as good beer it all has gliserine in it and you won't find good food either or hygene, so if any of those things are important to you, don't go because you will be disappointed and you will be part of a wave of destructive westerners hellbent on ruining every natural beautiful corner left on the earth. Try thailand its already destroyed, but is even more beautyful and more appropriate for commercial holidaymakers that require western comforts. Please take this website down if you care about the very thing the islands stand for, protecting natural beauty because there are many places that are like this all over the world, but this is the last one that has n't yet been completely ruined and commercialised and the reality is the people you attract won't appreciate it for what it is. For me I don't care about comforts, or beer or accomadation, in fact improving all these things will be what ultimetley destroys it, we love it just the way it is, except all the new accomadations there building and the first hotel is a disaster. By the way its not the secret door to paradise, if you tell everybody and everybody comes and litters and changes the whole idealic surroundings, by forcing more accomadations to be built and clubs and then larey idiots to come in droves and ruin the ambience by showing complete lack of respect for the place. I urge you once again, cause I think if you only realized the damage you are doing by promoting this the last place of its kind in the world, just let people who are prepared to travel around India find it fot themselves, their the kind of people that will appreciate it, not yobos on a direct flight, who just see it as the new ibiza without the clubs!!
Mári Elképesztőek, de ijesztőek ezek a tengeri szörnyek. Mári! Jól nézel ki! (Egyébként, lehet, hogy magasabb faktorszámú napkrémet kéne használnod...)

What a reunion! Hi Pierre Alexandre & Mari,
Those two are so sweet to see together. Hopefully your plan will come together. Found another good place to have a bite on the early end of Thonglo... Take care.
Hi guys! So pleased you could have a nice weekend away with Tiffany, we have our fingers crossed for you that there are many, many more happy times as a family for the 4 of you! Seems like Nha Trang has changed a little since we were last there - a Sheraton! Happy Travels and stay safe, Donna and Neil x
Good to see you enjoyed Oslo Pierre im so glad you finally got to set foot in Norway, and also that you enjoyed it. If only you came to visit when we are there, not quite though will be there in a month or so. Lucky you had good weather, we will be there in the winter :)
Beggars Hey, you know most of the beggars come from eastern Europe. After they joined EU they can travel all over Europe, and they come here because they know there are lot of money here, and they hope to get some. Pity but nothing to do about it, begging is not a crime.
Do you ever stay still?! We're having trouble keeping up with where you are! Bangkok one minute, Oslo the next...you must be getting to be an expert in avoiding jet lag! Thanks for the comment on our last blog, we hope to go back to Thailand at some point (waiting for cheap flights!) so we will give you a shout when we are back there. You let us know if you are in our part of Asia, still in Phils at the moment. Stay well and safe!
:) Thank you Jo, Lili and Dani for the Birthday wishes. We had a blessed one :D.
Leslie is going to start his PADI in October. He is so excited about it...
He is our little shrimp ;)

This blog is just short of 10 years old. We have now move to South Africa.
Why South Africa? Simple, great wine, great food, great golf and even more amazing diving! I will for once continue to blog from time to time about home. After all, this is just my fourth continent after having grow up in Europe, lived in Asia for twenty years, and even spent a full year living the life of Buenos Aires.
Come to visit....there is so much to do here! ... full info
