Phi Phi Islands - Day 3, 4 & 5 December 7th, 2007 to December 9th, 2007 Day 3: After a long journey to get to our first destination, we deserved to relax, so on Day 3, that is exactly what we did. We sat by the pool overlooking Patong beach. We did some swimming in the Ocean as well as in the pool. We had some cocktails and young coconut drinks. I got a Thai message on the beach where I met a couple from the US (Philadelphia). We chatted about our trips and how beautiful this place is. Her husband called it “Fantasy Island” and it is. Ken did not get at Thai message - It wasn’t his thing! We arranged a tour for the next day to the Phi Phi Islands (Phi Phi Ley ... read more

December 4th to December 6th Steven says it’s my turn to update the blog so here goes. Most of this entry is about what it took to actually get here. Wow - I forgot just how long those flights were! In February 2005, Ken and I traveled to SE Asia to visit my home country - Luang Prabang, Laos. This was my first time back home since I left Laos in early 1981. Our trip started when we flew from San Diego to Bangkok via Narita, Japan. We stayed in Bangkok about 3 days where we visited the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, the River Market, Khaosan Road (Backpacker Heaven - Interesting place!) and a few other places around the city. We then flew from Bangkok to Luang Prabang, Laos. This was where I got very emotional since it was my first time back home after 24 years. The city is now a World Heritage Site. Luang Prabang is a former Royal city with many temples (called Wats) along the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers. We arrived ... read more
