We went to Bell Gorge, the rocks were very slippery and the water was cold. When you walked into the water, you slid along the rocks, like a slide, except you are on your feet. Next was Tunnel Creek. You had to take a torch with you to find your way through to the other side. There was a break-in on the roof of the cave and people said on the left after the break-in was crocodiles. But we only saw the eyes of one in the water, then they disappeared. So we went “that’s a crocodile”. At Windjana Gorge we saw lots of freshwater crocodiles. One had its mouth open and we saw one that was 20cm long. It was a baby. Not much at Derby, only stayed one night, but there were high tides ... read more

We left El Questro and went along Gibb River Road. We stopped for lunch at Ellenbrae Station where a goose chased me. He was big and white and pretty noisy. When we went inside, we ordered a scone with jam and cream and had a drink. The scone was really big and very, very, very, very yummy. Got to King Edward River campsite and spent a day relaxing. We got to go kayaking down the river. Drove to Mitchell Falls and set up camp, then walked to the falls. We went for a swim at the top of the falls before going back to camp. You are not allowed to swim at the bottom of the falls, because there are saltwater crocs. Freshwater crocodiles don’t hurt you unless you attack them or get between them and ... read more

When we crossed the border from NT into WA we had to put our clock back 1½ hours. This meant that we hadn’t even finished lunch yet, but we had already had it. The time changed from 3.30pm back to 2pm. Wyndham had a giant crocodile sitting outside the post office on some soft grass. Dad took my photo by it, and the croc was smiling. At the caravan park where we stayed there was a Bush Donkey that lived there. It came around Brekkie and Dinner Times for veggies and bread and whatever he could get. I reckon he was cute. I had a plane flight over the Bungle Bungles at 6am in the morning from Kununurra. It took over 2 hours to get to the Bungle Bungles and back. We also flew over the ... read more

In Litchfield National Park, on our way to a campsite, we stopped and saw Magnetic Termite Mounds. The termites build them very skinny and pointy at the top, like a mohair hairdo. They face East for the morning sun to warm the inside, and face West to keep the mound warm overnight. We got to Buley Rockhole and set up camp. The water was very cold and very deep and places. We found a rock with a log and swam over to it and got on it. Then we swam to the waterfall and sat on the rocks where the water couldn’t push you away as much as floating in the water beneath the waterfall. When we were leaving we saw a snake go across the path. We saw a girl touch it and when it ... read more

We finally got internet service in Darwin. I liked the Cyclone Tracy display at the Museum. There was a room that had sounds like Cyclone Tracy. It was very loud, dark and scary. In Darwin we had lots of swims in the pool at the caravan park. We went to see the WWII Tunnels that were built to store oil in, but were not finished until after the war ended and were never used. We got to walk inside 1 of them. It had lots of water running in the tunnel. It had photos of the bombing that Japan did to Darwin in WWII. One day, when the car got a snorkel put on, we walked to the Aircraft Museum - the home of the B52. There were lots of planes in there. The B52 took ... read more

Stopped at Wycliffe Well (UFO capital) for a photo. Got to Devils Marbles in the afternoon. Next morning we got to look around and climb the rocks before we left. Arrived at Mataranka Springs and there were fireworks that night for Territory day. We had a swim in the Springs next morning. There were crocodiles further down the stream from were we had a swim. The water was very clear. We left and went to Kakadu. Passed through Katherine & Pine Creek on the way. Didn’t do the river cruise at Katherine Gorge. Stopped at Jim Jim Billabong for 2 nights. We couldn’t swim there as there were crocs in the water. Next day went to Bowali Visitors Centre & I bought a furry crocodile that is very cuddly and called it Kath. Saw lots of ... read more

Went to Rainbow Valley for the night. They had dingoes there. I saw someone with a torch. I thought it was a dingo. We left the next morning and went to Ayers Rock. The climb was closed because it a little windy. We went and walked around the Olgas instead. At Curtin Springs where we camped an emu chased me at breakfast time to try and get my sausage, but I won. Before we left Dad rang Uluru Information and found out the climb was open. We went back and I climbed to the top of Ayers Rock, but not the highest point in the middle. It was very hard and it was very hot and I was tired. Went to Kings Canyon the next day and did a 6km walk then stayed at Palm Valley. ... read more

Went to the School of the Air in Alice Springs. They had a map and it showed every student they had, they were spread all over the Northern Territory. It is the biggest classroom in the world. Some kids are over 500km away and they have school between 8am to 5pm - but only have classes for 4 hours a day. Went to Emily Gap, Jessie Gap and Ruby Gap. At Ruby Gap I found Garnets in the river bed. The water must have washed the Garnets up near the rocks where I found them. My Mum and Dad found some spots as well. They look like glass that is pinky-red. On the way back to camp we saw some Donkeys and one had really fuzzy ears (the one on the right). They looked really soft. ... read more

Left Coober Pedy and followed another dusty road to Oodnadatta and had lunch at the Pink Roadhouse. I got a PINK stubby holder - everything was pink, except the swing. We had to stop to fix the broken rear windscreen. Got to Dalhousie Springs camp at dark again and there were lots of mozzies and sandflies there. We used Aerogard, but it didn’t work! In the morning had a swim in the hot springs. It wasn’t too hot by the stairs, but there were lots of fish and they were whacking my legs. It was freezing when I got out. Saw a dingo hanging around the campsite. Some people were feeding it, so it stayed around the campsite. We drove through Finke, and there was lots of rubbish outside the Aboriginals houses. Didn’t stop for lunch, ... read more

Went past Berrie Creek and saw lots of sculptures. I liked the dog that was made out of the old Ghan Water Siding Tanks best. It was about 8m high. We got into Coward Springs camp at dark. We were looking for firewood by torchlight. Finally got a fire going, had toast and jaffles. Looked around old siding, Station Masters house with wells and hot springs (but didn’t have a swim). When we got to Coober Pedy we went to the Old Timers Museum and Alex & I went “noodling” for opals in the noodle pit out the front. Found some and got to keep them, and I will show you when I get back. Saw how they used to get rocks out that didn’t have opal in it. I got to put a stone up ... read more
