I knew a guy once
An adventurous spirit living life to the fullest, good job, intellect, bit of a dancer, sort of guy you couldn't help liking. Then he had an accident, really freaky bad luck. Can't keep a good man down sort of guy, had an adventurous spirit. So he headed to his favourite place to recuperate. There he had too much time to reflect, too much time to think about what he was missing out on. But he got better and you should see him now. An adventurous spirit living life to the fullest, good job, intellect, even better dancer, sort of guy you can't keep down. Sound familiar? I know that guy.

Waiting Time
Hi Great info on your article! :) Just wanted to ask, from the time you scheduled an appointment, when was the earliest date available for the interview? I know the visa fee is something I am very worried about. Its Feb 20 2016 right now, and have not paid the fee yet, would it be possible to have it scheduled by Feb 25 or earlier? Because if granted the visa, I will need to receive it by March 4 or 5. Thanks so much for your help.

waiting time
you have to pay first so you can schedule the interview. the availability of schedule will depend on the number of people requesting. sometimes the schedule will be more than a month away. sometimes just days. it varies

Interview questions
Hi! I like how this article was being done. Simple and direct to the point. Would you know if they ask the same set of questions based on your experience at the Embassy? Like based on what you saw and heard. Thanks!

interview questions
it varies. follow up questions will depend on your answers. questions will vary based on your job, whether you have relatives in the States, your plans there, etc.

Helped me on my Visa Application
Hi! I came upon this blog and thought that it's very informative. I tried reading some stories just before I applied to know what I'll be expecting. Luckily w/ all of these info's available, we were able to ace our interview and got approved (though the consul didn't really tell us that it's approved but she said wait for our passport and called on to the next person? Haha. Thanks! Now the question is, like you I am very excited and I want to book our ticket right away. Would it be safe to do it now? I still don't have my passport w/ me. I tracked and it say's that the passport is still in the embassy, but it's for delivery. I guess I'm too scared to risk that maybe we didn't get approve pala? Haha! Any advice?

Super focussed traveller!
Wow Harold! You were brave to travel so soon after your operation, and what an amazing idea to go somewhere new to recuperate. Glad to hear you are recovering well, which I'm sure is in large part to you being so fit and already being good at balancing on one leg :)

Be careful what you wish for
I've always imagined getting sick and going somewhere to recover. Although I was only thinking of getting chicken pox or something equally less painful that would only put me out for three to four weeks. Oh well...

Ouch
Broken femur. Even the thought of it makes me wince.

Wince
Still does that to me when I remember

Sorry to hear about your broken leg...
but pleased you were able to recuperate in BC once you got there. In 2013 I traveled to China and the rest of the way around the world with a still mending broken ankle. In every case, the airlines provided wheelchair support, although British Airlines in Heathrow the attendant didn't want to take me right to the gate, but I insisted. My best experience was arriving in Beijing where the wheelchair person met me at the ramp off the plane and took me through immigration and customs and crashed the taxi line...30 minutes from the plane to the taxi...got to be a record. Who is the Chris you play soccer with. I know a Chris Thomas who teaches children to play soccer in the Philippines. If it was him, this would really be a small world!

Chris
No it's a different Chris. There's very few football fields in Manila and there's a lot of Brits where I play so I'm pretty sure we play in the same field. Beijing is very modern so I wad expecting the same from Shanghai but unfortunately it's a very old airport

Harold the Brave
Wonderful to read this update Harold. You never fail to surprise me. When you contacted me to advise of your freak accident and impending surgery I could not believe the ball of energy I had spent time with only days before in Sydney could have such bad luck. But reading this blog your smile and optimism I got to know, is ever present and will serve you well in your recovery. As the Canadians are the politest folk in the world, I agree with you...no better place to recuperate and recover.

Thanks Dave!
Didn't know I had it in me or that I could do it but I had no choice. China bullied me into being brave :)

What a pleasure
When you contacted me from the Philippines that you were coming to Sydney I was excited thinking how I could make your visit memorable. Thank you for embracing our full day & night together with fun & enthusiasm. And you were lucky. Lady Macquarie's Chair for the best views of Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Through heavy traffic to Sydney's most northern beach I was a tad concerned our destination would be packed out. But as we walked along Pittwater towards Lion Island then over the dunes to Palm Beach...no one else was there. Unheard of!!! Off the track bush-bashing behind my place into Berowra Valley National Park listening to a bird chorus with swamp wallabies hopping by. A shaggy brown one nearly collided with us! Then as sulphur crested cockatoos squarked overhead as they headed for home in the valley we headed to Camelot Lounge for front row seats for Nadya & the 101 Candles. You appeared in awe as gypsy swing in many tongues and musical instruments captured your soul. Got you back to your hostel at 10 after midnight for a kip before your flight back to Manilla the next day. Thanks for contacting me you were coming to Sydney, Harold. You are one of TBs true gentlemen...and we had a truly memorable time together. Keep in touch.

Thank you!
I forget the name of the places I should've written this sooner if not for my accident. Yes I'll definitely keep in touch. Thank you for the memorable day with lots of new experiences :)
