Strawberries
Don't know if your homesick or just homesick. Think you need to race up a Korean mountain...or meditate in a Korean garden...just you. And don't forget to take some strawberries...appreciate the texture...the soft delicious centres...and say "Where am I now?"

Best of Luck
My heart felt your confusion. Its not a choice to be born in one country but it is a choice as to what country you fall in love with the most. I was born in America, and although I appreciate all the freedoms of being American, my heart stay overseas in Italy. My family, my husband and friends remind me I am an American but my heart is totally European. Thank you for sharing your blogs. I'm happy you had wonderful people along with you. Best wishes!!

Really enjoyed this blog entry. I have felt these exact feelings being in a new country and returning home. However, my home is Canada... and I will always be grateful for that. Thanks for all of your positive words about Canada, and come visit again!

Thanks Tam!
We have working holiday agreement with new zealand. I dont know the others yet. I've been thinking about it but its scary to leave a stable job! I think mostly because i feel underqualified and overpaid for the one I have now. But I will look into it more and muster up more courage to take a leap of faith. Cheers!

Your friend
I think you are correct in thinking that your friend will change his mind about returning to Pinas because of the current "hardships" he is encountering. He is still adjusting to a different lifestyle and his current location is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of life in Manila and its environs. Canada is a huge country with plenty of opportunities for economic and academic advancement.

snow covered house

Amazing snow!
I love your snow photos and adventures. I'm from California and didn't see snow until I started traveling, so I really love your amazement and appreciation of the magical stuff. In this photo, it looks as if the snow if going to eat the house--yikes! How wise not to worry about the money on your incredible journey--when will you ever see things like this again? Buen viaje!

Perspectives
I love this blog. You share your thoughts from your observations so well expressed. The observations of a traveller from a tropical clime thrust into that of the snowbound. Everything so different...no maids, no pampering...but the awe of the beauty you behold. Great blog.

Theme park: solo style
I went to Nha Trang theme park Vinpearl solo. Loved it! Maybe it depends what type of theme park. Vinpearl is mostly water slides.

The bad days
Extended travel is exhausting. You need to chill out for a couple of days and do nothing. You'll enjoy it more.

try somewhere new!!!
I love reading your blogs and hearing of new experiences and soundalike you are in the same place? you've said you have a few weeks to go so why not try somewhere else in Canada? head into French Canada for a different feel, or find a rodeo! I've been to Toronto and niagra falls and that was pretty a,axing and very different - worth it for a few days :) time to find more new stuff! :)

outlets
i know! it feels like I'd be doing a bad thing if I didn't buy something thats a total bargain. funny how we filipinos pay more when we have way less
16th April 2014

outlets
the outlets in the US and Canada are fabulous! you won't find prices like that in Australia :( glad you are having a great time though, tam

true
i forget that even violent reactions are a good thing. its interesting for me how some people could rave about "art" that are traditionally just junk. like the wrecked car. or the $3 million rain drop sculpture in the convention center. oh well

modern art...
...is a very subjective thing isn't it? I find it quite interesting how some things resonate with some people but not others. there's a museum of old and new art here in Hobart that really divides opinion, and causes enough angst that letters are regularly written to the local paper about it - much to the delight of the artists :)

Each place has positives and negatives for sure. You wonder why Canadians would bother to travel? Well, we like to go to places like to Philippines so we can eat sweet ripe bananas & real mangos that don't taste like medicine, and see beautiful sunsets. Canada is stunning but it also can be isolating and dark, as you have discovered.

that was just how I felt at that moment
that was just how I felt at that moment after hearing those boys talk about south america. I know we don't have first world amenities at home but I do love my country and I am proud of what we have. Thank you for your kind words about the Philippines.
25th March 2014

why do Canadians want to travel?
Well I'm not Canadian, I'm Australian and I love travelling. I've been to the Philippines (on a mission trip). You underestimate the beauty of your country and its people. And the food. People don't travel just to see beautiful places. I travel for the adventure, the people that I meet and the different experiences and cultures. Some of that may involve dirt and discomfort but that's part of life. Also going from a wealthy country to a poorer country can show us that we have little to complain about and that we should be helping more. More people should travel. It's a good education. About your prostitution comments, it's a shame that it is so common in your country, or in any country. I support one of many organisations where they rescue under-age girls from sex slavery in brothels, mostly in Asian and African countries. It's not a life for anyone.
