Warning . I sound a little like the advertisements on the T.V before a programme starts. If you are offended by bad language , programmes of a sexual nature or flashing lights switch off now. If you don't want to hear the football results go out of the room now. So this warning is for you - if you don't know what G.O.T. means you have two choices read on and be enlightened or read on because you know exactly what this blog will contain. Actually if you are one of those people who have no idea what I am talking about you can move on to the next blog . We will be doing something Roman next . Dobra Dan to you this fine morning - Good morning from Otok Pag . Pag island in Croatian. It is another day and a fine one at that . The weather has gradually crept up over the last few day and the sun now beats down upon us. We feel like we have finally arrived . This year though we have managed on the way down to take in some sights. Hopefully this will continue as we move ever so slowly southwards towards Bosnia . We extricated ourselves from our stopover . Whilst Glenn unhitched Gabby I set off to pay. It's a long way back following the red line passing the mini market , the bicycle hire shops and the hairdressers along the way. If I turned right instead of left and carried on for ... read more

Gabby is parked on a camping site where we should not even be. It is our worse nightmare . Hundreds of pitches, entertainments for the children, what looks like plastic food and noise. The sort of campsite we look at and move on before we even park up. Or one where we have to bite the bullet and stay but stay only one night. The journey to the border with Croatia was relatively uneventful. The road was winding and slow. We followed slow moving traffic. One lorry that we could not pass and we were slowed down by village after village with a 50kph speed limit. It was a frustrating drive if the truth be told. Eventually we did arrive at border control and handed our passports over. A Slovenian border guard gave them a cursory ... read more

Where in the world is Gabby the motorhome on this fine day. She is parked on a 10 euros a nightstop at a very unusual place . The Park Vojaske Zgodovine. Now go on tell me you are not at least a bit interested in knowing where she is. Lets try another language she is at the Parco della storia militare . Now that gives more of a clue in Italian. She is on a car park in the park of Military History. We have passed by many times. As we drove up the road each time we have seen tanks. Each time we have said "too late , we have missed whatever it is " "We will have to leave it for another day." The museum lay on a corner and we always came across ... read more

Where in the world is Gabby the motorhome? Parked up on Camping Bled wondering why the price of this campsite has risen from 15 euros and a few cents to over 34 euros in 6 years. That is inflation taken to a ridiculous degree. My comments written in their welcome book suggested that the campfees were rather over the top for what was just a bog basic campsite. I feel it probably fell on deaf ears. Haviz some eastern philosopher said " If you are not travelling and on the road how can you call yourself a guide" Well today I shall do my best to be your guide and give you an insight into a day on the road in a motorhome on a journey which took us out of Germany , into Austria and ... read more

Where in the world is Gabby the motorhome? She is parked up on a dedicated stellplatz which we can use as long as Bayern Munich are not playing their home games at the Allianz stadium. 15 Euros a night buys us a pitch with free electricity and WiFi, a view of the giant marshmallow stadium which will turn red tonight and a U Bahn trip into Munich if we fancy it. Tonight they are not playing so we find ourselves in their car park waiting for the light show to begin. The day started off in a similar fashion to yesterday. Breakfast listening to the rain pattering on Gabbys roof. We seem unable to outrun this bad weather. We left Zweibrucken and travelled courtesy of the free German motorways. Road works plagued us for many a ... read more

Gabby the motorhome is parked at the Rosegarten stelplatz at Zweibrucken. This was not our first choice of stelplatz but it turned out to be a good one. A touch farther than our first choice making for less driving tomorrow. It looked good on Google Earth and had rave reviews on Camper Contact. Rewind a few hours though and we are still parked by the canal in Peruwelz eating our breakfast. Our noisy Dutch neighbours are fast asleep . Four abreast in a tiny Surfer Dude campervan. There can be no room to swing a cat inside and I wonder how they sleep. Top to toe and very intimately. We never saw our neighbours to the other side. Anyone who reads my utterings knows I like eastern philosophy . They also know I have a calendar which offers me pearls of wisdom each morning. Sometimes the words are short and pithy. I understand them easily and they resonate well with me. Other times they go on and on, rambling missives that mean nothing to me. Today Swami Vivekananda was offering a long thought for the day around success and ideas. I guess it did resound well when I read the first line. " Take up one idea " "Make that one idea your life - think of it, live on that idea" Our one idea at the moment was Gabby and the Sat Nav . We slept poorly as we thought about Gabby. Was she safe? "Homeward Bound " - The feeling you get whether you are away a day, a week , a month or longer. It is always nice to get back to sit in your own comfortable chairs, to eat what you want when you want. Egg on toast - beans on toast . To be able to sleep in your own bed. As I write this Gabby is sitting on our drive . We have arrived home after our short South Walian break. Gabby is a filthy girl and Glenn spent the best part of a morning cleaning her roof which had not seen a brush nor water for months. I spent the time getting washing into the washing machine and making lists of things to be done. The second day Glenn cleaned the outside of our girl ... read more

What is the connection between a welsh prince, , a marchog of Wales , Led Zepplin and a chevalier of France? This is another of those strange connections that come to light when you accidently fall on them on your travels. The sort of questions that might just come up one day in a quiz league night. That sort of obscure fact that you never imagine you will need anytime soon and you wonder just how they come into being. Gabby spent the night on the car park in Machynlleth. It was surprisingly quiet for a large car park. A few lorries were parked up but even they were quiet. We were even fortunate to park under the street light which illuminated Gabby all through the night. We had had no sun for days so the ... read more
