What time is it ? It is dark and gloomy and I have little idea what time it is . The sun has not risen and there is no finger of light punching its way through the curtains . It could be anytime between 4 am and 6 am. I lean over to try to read the time on the alarm clock . That is shrouded in darkness . . The luminous fingers of my watch are slowly moving around the dial but they are so weak that without my glasses I cannot work out what time they tell. It is Monday . I know that . I also know it is day 183 and the start of another Covid week - week 27. I should not be lying here screwing my eyes up trying to ... read more

Gabby the motorhome is parked up at home and has had a much needed spruce up. She has been washed and all the mud that covered her has been removed . She looks clean and ready to go. Ready to go but nowhere to go to. The two week holiday has passed by in the blink of an eye and yes we did get away. But sadly it was not the holiday we had planned thanks to Boris and his ideas about quaranteen and travelling against foreign office advice . Gabbys carpets have come out and been hoovered . Her fridge emptied . Clothes , washed , dried and returned to her cupboards . I wonder where she will be end up next? A holiday at Christmas perhaps ? Will we get a window of opportunity ... read more

"Let your mind wander in the pure and simple " The words of Chuang Tzu rang in my ears as I walked . Autumn is coming with Winter just around the corner . It seems a little strange to say winter is coming when the sun is beaming down. It is 25 degrees at least and feels much warmer. The sun has been like a large red ball in the sky. The wildfires of the USA seem to have created some kind of phenomenon where the smoke has been picked up by the jet stream . The jet stream has carried it across the Atlantic and coloured up our September sun. But nevertheless Autumn is lurking there quietly but there nevertheless . There are two more weeks to September and then another three before the clocks ... read more

We didm't have a good sleep after our news of yesterday . Well you wouldn't would you? Your head would go round and round trying to work out what had happened . You would have been annoyed that the people buying your house waited so long to decide to come back for a second viewing . You would be angry with them for saying nothing and letting the solicitors start the process . Our night had been well and truly disturbed by our thoughts. Trying to work out what we did wrong . What was wrong with our home ? It did not matter how many times we talked it through we found it hard to understand . A very large red wine did help slightly . Red wine always makes the world seem better . ... read more

So what can I say about Craster ? Well it is not a Mousehole nor is it a Porthleven . It was probably not quite what I expected despite the search on Google Earth and reading up about the place . I had expected a village similar to many I had seen in Cornwall over the years .Small but perfectly formed with shops . Interesting nooks and crannies . Craster did not have any of these features . It is billed as the home of the Lobster and the Crab . It boasts a harbour and a massive car park . It sounded too good to be true. Gabby travelled a good three quarter hour drive from her last nights stop to our destination today . Enough time to bring our lithium battery back up to ... read more

Gabby the motorhome was still parked up at the Old Farmhouse . We had had a relatively peaceful night . We never heard the pub goers coming nor going . We left Gabbys heating on low overnight . The nights are starting to get a nip to them. We woke to a cosy van . We were in no hurry to leave . The pub landlord was in no hurry to move us on . He even mentioned breakfast in the pub but sadly the chef was not available. The rain pitter pattered on the roof . Not that level of thumping you get that sounds like the demented drummer of a heavy metal band . More the sort of rain that makes you drift back into sleep . We ate slowly . The inverter came ... read more

Sunday was a rush day . We were trying to cross the T's and dot the I's with our house sale . We had sat on the furnishings and fittings list before taking time to fill them in . We signed all the contracts and got everything ready to drop at the conveyancer. With the rider not to rush things. She had put more stuff in the post for our purchase . Contacts to fill in and sign and permission to do the surveys and searches . We dropped everything off and warned her to take her time . We copied passports and driving licences . Little did we know on this warm sunny Sunday morning at the start of yet another Covid week that she would ignore everything we said and that our world would ... read more

Tuesday - another day and another house. Another town too. Wrexham . What would I if I were a visitor think of Wrexham? As we drove through I thought it shabby, unloved with many empty shops. Devoid of any character . It was not the town I remembered fondly of as a child. Then it was an hive of activity with bustling shops, markets and people . So many people coming in to do their weekly shop. We passed the Lemon Tree Restaurant . That used to be the Denbighshire Education Committee offices . Sandwiched in between 60's monstrosities and Victorian handsome villas . We wondered if today was going to be "our" house . Not too finished . Not too perfect . Somewhere we could leave our mark on . How hard was it turning ... read more

Gabby the motorhome , Sion and us two are currently sitting high above the Vale of Clwyd. It is a glorious view . We are parked up on an empty car park at the Clwyd Gate Public house . A pub with a view. It was a pub some while ago but sadly has closed down . Behind is now an empty motel . It looks dilapidated and rather sad. Why a Travel Lodge has never bought the place I never know. Living here in the past we loved the place . We always treated it as a visitor would . We always looked at the Vale through fresh eyes. The Clwydian Hills forming a backdrop which now is tinged purple with heather. Ruthin is such a pretty town . The red sandstone of the local ... read more

When we got up in the morning we had not much of a plan for the day . Another trip over to North Wales hunting . We were determined to find something and though that we had hit the right one with the one we were viewing this morning . The drive over was uneventful . We try to find a different way to get there . Breaking the monotony by trying Buxton, Macclesfield , Knutsford and Chester . Down to Derby and Uttoxeter . Over Ashbourne way . Across the new road around Manchester Airport . We are running out of options . But we did set off with some optomism . It was Day 161 of our new Covid life . The sun shone on us as we felt reasonable happy that this would ... read more
