We spent three nights at Cania Gorge. We treated the kids to a big 4 caravan park, just thought it would be nice to have a special treat as we make our way home. The park has a water slide and play area, jumping pillows, pizza night, outdoor family movie, bird feeding, wine tasting, golf course, tennis court and lots of wildlife all over the place! We are amazed at how cold it is here though and have had a camp fire burning brightly every night. The kids spent their time in the pool and on Saturday night they watched The Lorax on the big screen. Dad and Gavin had a round of golf and mum and I caught up on the news through the purchase of the latest gossip mags - Tom Cruise and Katie ... read more

We are now home and as awesome as it is to go away, it feels really good to be back home! (probably wont last and im sure the first day back at work will suck! Lol). So i Just thought I should do abit of a "trip report". Damage List includes: Mum and Dad One broken shock absorber on the trailer (fixed at Weipa), Windscreen smashed by rocks five times and will need replacing, side step damaged doing Gunshot. Mum also sustained a nasty injury to her knee at Carnarvon Gorge which resulted in severe bruising. She also strained her shoulder early in the trip when she tripped over a tent rope. (it was actually quite funny!!). The knee injury wasn't though and she is very lucky that it wasn't more serious. -.- Gav and Jude ... read more

We arrived in Winton. We spent two nights free camping just outside of town and did the Waltzing Matilda museum, The Age of Dinosaurs tour, The opal mine and the open theatre tour. The watzing matilda museum was great. It talked about the history of the song ofcourse and had a heap of other historical items on display. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it as a place to go. Above all the absolute highlight was the age of dinosaurs tour. This is a working laboratory gathering and preserving dinosaur fossils found in the Winton region. It is just amazing to go into the laboratory and actually see the scientists working with fossilised bones and all sorts of things. The kids loved it and so did we! From here we headed out to a ... read more

We stopped at Leichardt Falls for an over night stop. Its a pretty spot and we found a great spot under a shady tree over looking the waterfall. Dad and Gav tried abit of fishing with no success and the kids enjoyed a cool dip in the water. (dont think there were any crocs!) Next day we continued on to a spot called Gregory Downs and free camped by the gregory river. It was anice spot where again the kids enjoyed a swim in the water. From here we travelled out to Lawn Hill National Park. Lawn Hill, what can I say. It is absolutely beautiful! Day one We hired canoes and canoed up the gorge. The water is a beautiful emerald green and so beautiful and clear you can see the fish and turtles swimming! ... read more

We have arrived at Karumba and are staying here for five nights. As most of you would already know Gav has finally shaved. Thank god, it's been like travelling with a cross between Ned Kelly, the bush tucker man and the bloke in the movie Wolf Creek! I'm so happy to see his boyish good looks back again! When we checked in to the caravan park Gav was very excited when the lady told him that the caravan park verse caravan park Olympics were on that night and he could sign up to participate. Well we all know that Gav just can't resist joining in any form of competitive sports and having a social beer or two or five! So it was with great excitement that he signed up to participate and we all went along ... read more

We left Seisia and made our way to Vriliya Beach. OMG what a beautiful place it is. We only intended to stay one night but we ended up staying three! The drive in was about 60 k's of rough road with a log bridge crossing. Atleast this log bridge looked abit better than the one along the telegraph track! We got out to check it and found that some of the logs were spaced apart pretty wide so it was important to pick the correct line. We all made it over without too much trouble and continued on our way. Vriliya provided some more great fishing and the boys again caught two good feeds of fish, a couple of queenies and a couple blue salmons. Luke was excited because he caught a reef shark. Gavin didn't ... read more

we are leaving Seisia after spending five nights here. It is a really beautiful spot and we have fun here here. Day 1. We visited the croc tent. This tent is literally that - a tent! It is set up every year and you can go there to buy souvenirs and it doubles as an information centre. The people there are really helpful and the kids bought a couple of little souvenirs and we picked up a map of the local area. Day 2. We went to the tip. It is such a beautiful walk out to the sign that marks the northerly most point of the Australian continent. When we were standing taking photos a big turtle swam past! It was sooo special to see one in the ocean! There were a few people lining ... read more
