Just as well we carry a spare or this would have meant trip over!
We are now home and as awesome as it is to go away, it feels really good to be back home! (probably wont last and im sure the first day back at work will suck! Lol).

So i Just thought I should do abit of a "trip report".

Damage List includes:

Mum and Dad

One broken shock absorber on the trailer (fixed at Weipa), Windscreen smashed by rocks five times and will need replacing, side step damaged doing Gunshot.

Mum also sustained a nasty injury to her knee at Carnarvon Gorge which resulted in severe bruising. She also strained her shoulder early in the trip when she tripped over a tent rope. (it was actually quite funny!!). The knee injury wasn't though and she is very lucky that it wasn't more serious. -.-

Gav and Jude

Windscreen smashed by rocks will need replacing, dual tyre carrier clip broken off (fixed at Wiepa), two lost aerials (replaced at Cook Town and Mt Isa ), smashed water tank on the trailer (crossing Palm Creek), two tyres (one a blow out just east of Rollston), broken wheel hub in the trailer 50 Kms outside of Winton (that's

She was sooo lucky that it wasn't a lot worse however, she will need to have it looked at to be sure.
when we lost the other tyre) luckily we carry a spare hub because this would have meant trip over if we didn't!

So all up I think we did very well.

Most expensive petrol, Jardine river ferry $2.10/litre

Most expensive camping, Carnarvon Gorge $42/night (powered) and we didn't tell them that we had kids so with the kids we would have been looking at approx $65/night! Ouch!! (worth it but).

Cheapest camping: Free

Best butcher, Normanton (their meat was the best ever!)

Best fishing, Karumba (no surprises there)

Best driving, The Old Telegraph track and Frenchmans Track

we tried to pick our favorite spots but there were sooo many that it was just too hard. Overall, we had an absolutely fantastic time and the entire trip was a highlight!
