Day 17 Up early and out for our usual omelette and bread breakfast. I'm convinced that I've not has a poorly stomach as I'm bound by all the eggs ive eaten! The private car came to pick us up just after 9am. Tuan the boss of Easy Riders came To see us off and wish is well. The lady on reception was hugging and kissing us goodbye. The hotel staff have been so lovely. The other day they came with a hot boiled egg and got Lesley to lay on the bed and roll it over her black eye. She found it very soothing. They also helped us with drying the clothes I'd washed through. The driver was friendly and spoke English which was helpful. Not a good start to the journey though as So many ... read more

Day 16 We were both up early to meet Terry before his trip and to say goodbye.... again. Coffee and a good chat about times shared over the past 4 days. It's amazing how quickly you forge friendships. Back for a shower and get ready for the day. We're going to have an easy day today because we have 7 hours travelling tomorrow and Lesley needs to rest. Her determination to carry on is amazing she is doing yoga everyday to help with her shoulder neck and arm. Off out for breakfast. We spotted a lake yesterday so made our way there through the market stalls. We sat and had a lovely breakfast watching people on the lake and chatting about what the next chapter will bring. We haven't got Terry as a tour guide now, ... read more

Day 14 & 15 Day 14 - home from hospital and rest.We came back to the hotel in a taxi once Lesley was discharged. 1.5 million Dong hospital bill. About £45 pound. All worth it. We both slept for most of the day. We ventured out for something to eat and Terry met us to check on Lesley. She's coping well. He's arranged another night in the hotel and we have his mobile should we need anything. He's been absolutely brilliant and has become a friend to us both. Early night and more rest. Day 15 - Dalat with Terry We got up early and went out for breakfast, meeting up with Terry . Lesley is feeling very sore and bruised today. After breakfast we went for coffee at the Easy Riders Hang Out Bar. Tuan ... read more

Day 12 & 13 Well it's been 4 days of extreme highs and lows so I'm just catching up with my blog and all the photos. There's quite a few! I'll start with the lows. Day 13 Lesley fell of the steps of a spiral staircase and landed badly on her shoulder and banged her head. We spent the night at the hospital. After various x rays and scans they were happy to discharge her. She has an arm/ shoulder brace which she has to wear for 3 weeks. She is also sporting a large black eye and cheek. We've had a day to think about what we want to do. Lesley is adamant we are not coming home. We can't continue with our plans and the motorbikes but can make new plans. Lesley needs time ... read more

Day 11 On the overnight bus to Nha Trang. I was quite looking forward to the journey as last time it was clean air conditioned and had toilets. I thing we must have had a premium bus. This bus was not so good. No toilets and very smelly. It was so full people were laying on the floor. I watched 2 films on my iPad and tried to ignore it. I wondered what the "wet dog" smell was then realised it was the blanket I had over my legs. We'd stopped early on for the driver to rest. Usually you stop again about 11pm but not this time. I couldn't get my seat to recline so slept upright. Which was a blessing and a curse. The curse was cramped legs the blessing was I didn't wake ... read more

Day 10 Stayed up late last night packing my bag for the night bus to Nha Trang tomorrow. I'm finding it difficult to pack everything because I've bought so much. Another good nights sleep. Up , showered and down for breakfast for 9am. The showers have been cold, but it's amazing how you just get used to it... Lol, I'm still hoping for a nice warm shower in Nha Trang. We checked out, 10210000 Dong (£6 a night) Hoa Binh hotel with pool! Worth every penny. It's been raining again and is overcast. It's still warm but not beach weather. We decided not to go to the beach and headed to the river to go on a boat trip. A bride was having her photo taken on the dock she look so beautiful. After haggling down ... read more

Day 9 Had a good nights sleep. Woke up to rain. It's still very warm. We packed our bags as they're moving us to a new room. We had a hearty breakfast. The rain is still coming. We're unsure of what to do in the rain so took some time and looked online. We were a bit late for trips today so we decided to do our own. Hire bicycles and cycle across to Cam Nam island to see the more rural side of Vietnam. We bought long rain macs. We do have them but the ones you buy here go to your ankles and cover more. We cycled in the light rain through the old town it was very refreshing in the heat. We found the large market. We pushed the bikes through as it ... read more

Day 8 It was lovely not to be woken by an alarm. A leisurely breakfast of bread omelette and water melon. We decided to hire bicycles today and go to the beach. We asked reception to book our overnight bus tomorrow to Nha Trang. They are fully booked .... and so are the trains! Our next option was to see if we can book for the day after and stay in Hoi An another night. Yep, that all worked out and is booked. It meant we had to send emails to the other hotel in Nha Trang. We also emailed Easy Rider motorbikes to make sure what time they were picking us up. Confirmed and all is well. We got the bicycles and ride 4km to the beach. I was a bit wobbly and had never ... read more

Day 7 - The alarm didn't go off! Quick change and out. Swift walk for the 8am bus. No time for breakfast. Bus arrived at 9.15am so had usual omelette and bread roll breakfast at the cafe next door whilst waiting. The bus is the sleeper, air conditioned and comfy. Great way to travel. Our 3 bus journeys (including 2 night buses) cost us just £35. It's warm but not sunny. Looking forward to another adventurous day. We had the obligatory stop for the driver. Beautiful restaurant with thatched roof, carp and birds. Just enough time for a green tea and then off. The bus stop seemed remote when we arrived. It was a 20 mins walk with back packs so we decided not to. 2 taxi scooters offered to take us for 30,000 Dong (80p) ... read more

Day 6 Arrived in Hue at 9.30amafter 12 hours on the sleeper bus. It was fine I slept well. We only had a 10 min walk to our hotel. We stopped for breakfast first though. Bread and omelette. A Vietnamese girl came over and asked if we were English; could she practice her English with us. So we enjoyed our breakfast talking to each other. Lesley showed her granddaughter photos ( which are so lovely). The girl was 12 and spoke English very well. She wanted to try to understand our accent, which was a push for 'Ull!. The welcome at the hotel was friendly, as always. We were greeted with a cold drink and fruit. The room is good too. A shower and change and then out to see what Hue had to offer. We'd ... read more
