Wednesday, December 25, 2013 (Christmas Day, St. Thomas) Merry Christmas! It does not feel like Christmas today, however what is most important to me, and I am sure everyone else, we together as a family. That is really one of the most the important things about the holiday season, being together. I was up early, as usual, so I was able to walk around and observe the beautiful port of St. Thomas, of course from the cruise ship. The surrounding was mountainous and very green. There were homes built on the side of the mountains. The port was full of other cruise ships and very very large private yachts. I included some photos of the area around the harbor. A little about St. Thomas. This island was initially occupied by prehistoric Ciboney people from South America ... read more

Tuesday, December 24, 2013 (A Day At Sea) Exciting stuff today. We were able to sleep in some this morning, except for me, I was up at 5:00 am. All our activities for the day will be on the ship. After a late breakfast in the Symphony Dining Room, Michael and I joined the trivia contest they had in the Vista Lounge. Couple of the trivia questions asked was “how many sides are there on a banana? Or what was Mickey Mouse’s name going to be before his name was Mickey? During the trivia game, Cindy was getting her done for our formal dinner this evening. Jenny was checking the Internet Cindy and joined late the specialty cooking showcase. They were demonstrating how they prepare some of the day’s specials. Even though we arrived late, we ... read more

Monday, December 23, 2013 (Eleuthera Island (Princess Cays) I was up at 5:00 am this morning so I could start writing my blog from our first day. Cindy and kids woke up at 7:45 am. There was no real rush to wake up earlier because our tours started later. After eating breakfast in the Symphony dining room, we gathered our belongings from our rooms and heading to our meeting place to exit our ship. This morning we needed to take a tender to Eleuthera Island (Princess Cays). Here is some information on Eleuthera Island (Princess Cays). This island in located in the Bahamas’ and is an exclusive port for Princess Cruises. The entire island is 100 miles long and 2 miles wide. Princess Cruises owns 30 acres of the island. They say that Princess Cays, when ... read more

Sunday, December 22, 2013 (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) What a fun day and upcoming week it will be. I was up at 3:15 am this morning to finish some last minute things I was not able to finish the last few days. Everyone else was up at 3:45 am. By 4:45 am we were out of the house and on our way to Houston Bush airport for our 7:15 am United flight to Ft. Lauderdale. Cindy’s parents were meeting us at the airport. Since our flight was last minute, we did not have the best seats on the plane, however at least we were able to secure a flight. After we boarded the flight and settled in, a gate agent came up to me at moved me to first class. This is hilarious because even though I ... read more

Friday, March 15, 2013 Todd slept until 550am, this is a miracle. Everyone else slept until 730am. Today after everyone had breakfast they had free time to do what they wanted until 1200pm. Our airport transportation was scheduled to leave at 100pm, flight is 250pm. At breakfast we all had a typical combination of western and Thai food. We also did our vitamin shots, I am telling you, good stuff. It was interesting that the same server/waiter at the Marriott Café remember us and what we liked to drink every morning. We are very impressed with this considering the hundreds of people coming through this restaurant daily. After breakfast we went back to the room and finished packing and then Michael went to work out and Jenny skyped a friend back in San Antonio and Cindy ... read more

Thursday, March 14, 2013 The girls slept in this morning until 730am, however Michael and I were up at 630am so we could run on the beach. We ran for 30 minutes at the water’s edge. Wow, this was a ton of fun, but extremely tiring. I think I used muscles I have not used in a while. The sand was partly soft, however I preferred running on the hard packed sand close to the water. When running Michael and I were joined by a pack of three black dogs, one of the dogs was a bully to the other dogs, quiet funny to watch them run with us for a while and bark at each other. Another time a single black dog came running up to us and just started barking, not a nice doggy. ... read more

Wednesday, March 13, 2013 As usual, we were up early today, partly today due to our scheduled tour at 850am. We ate breakfast at the Marriott Café this morning. Normally JW Marriott does not provide free breakfast at resort properties, however for some reason we got free breakfast and we are glad. It is super expensive. The breakfast is a buffet and probably the most extensive breakfast spread I have ever seen, I can see why it is expensive. I enclosed a photo of a small part of the area, however there is much more than just this area. Most of us stuck the traditional western breakfast; however we sprinkled a few Thai selections to our plate. We all absolutely loved breakfast. Today we are taking a speed boat to Phi Phi, Maya and Khai Islands. ... read more

Tuesday, March 12, 2013 We were all up by 700am this morning. Today would be a busy day traveling to Phuket. We ate one last time in the Executive Lounge and enjoyed the country cuisine. Our friend in the lounge gave us the sweet rolls we enjoyed the first day. We did not eat at many this day, however Todd took it for the team and at two of them. Before we departed the Conrad Hilton hotel at 930am, we finished packing and doing one last sweep of the rooms. It was sad we were leaving the hotel because we were really lucky that we had this type of room. By 930am we were in a car and on our way to the Bangkok airport. The ride was only 30 minutes. It seemed like the driver ... read more

Monday, March 11, 2013 Early morning for Cindy and I. Cindy was up at 4:30am and I was up at 5:00am. I suspect some of this is because of the jet leg, however another part is because of the excitement of being on holiday. Before the kids got up, Cindy worked on sorting photos and I worked on my travel blog. I then spent an hour in the Executive lounge from 6:00am - & 7:00am reading school stuff and finishing up my travel blog. By 8:00am, all of us were up and heading to breakfast in the executive lounge. The breakfast items were the same from the prior day, however there were a few new items. One cool thing was a honeycomb on a rack tilted and setup on an angle dripping fresh honey into a ... read more

Sunday, March 10, 2013 Considering the late evening arrival the prior evening and excitement over our suite, still managed to wake up at 630am. We still can’t believe we have the “celebrity” room. By 730am we were in the Executive Lounge for breakfast eating breakfast and talking about what we were thinking about doing for the day. Breakfast was quite good for an Executive Lounge. Most of us tried the local cuisine (eggs, bacon, rolls) however some of us ate fried flat noodles with pork, fried rice with eggs, dim sun (petite pasta shell with stuffed pork), Chinese bun with red pork (the bun looks like an egg). The service here at the Conrad Bangkok Hilton was fantastic. After our relaxing and adventurous breakfast, we headed to the lobby to talk to the concierge about the ... read more
