Today is a very exciting day. First it is not raining and second Michael and I are playing golf. Before golf, we ate again a Henry’s for breakfast. There food, breakfast in particular is so good. I ate a smaller portion today because the one I had yesterday was way too much. I think I am adding weight on this trip, yuck. Of course, had to have my flat white. After breakfast, Cindy’s Dad drove to his plant. On our way to the plant he took us along a seacoast route with beautiful views of the ocean and bay. We actually saw a large group of kangaroos in a field. Michael just loved that. We arrived at Cindy’s Dad plant and he did a quick drive by the new expansion they are almost done with. Today Michael and I were up at 400am, however never really got out of bed until 500am. Michael wanted to run and I wanted to walk. I left the apartment and walked for 15 minutes and it began to rain. Interestingly enough even at 500am there were still bars open in town. The drinking age is 18 years old. Michael back to the apartment at 630am soaked in rain water. I put his wet clothes and shoes in the dryer; he needed to wear for the day of touring. Cindy’s Dad came to our apartment around 730am and then we went to breakfast the same place that Michael and I had coffee at last evening. Breakfast is awesome at Henry’s however very expensive. The Flat White coffee was the best part of the meal for me. ... read more

We actually slept in today, 715pm. I guess we were finally getting used to the time difference from the states. Our flight was not until 135pm, so we had time to relax a little. After showering we headed to breakfast at our hotel. The receptionist said our breakfast was not included in our rate so if we wanted to eat the cost was $39 for the full buffet. I almost chocked considering the cost of the hotel was already extremely expensive. We ended up eating the buffet which was good, but not worth $39. We joked this would be our only meal for the day. After breakfast we returned to our room, packed and hung around. I sorted photos and worked on my travel blog, and Cindy’s Dad sorted his photos. Michael learned new words on ... read more

Michael and I shared a room at the Grand Medina Hotel. He woke up at 300am due to the jet lag, however I told him to think of koala bears and kangaroo’s. This must have done the trick, somewhat, went back to sleep. Michael and I finally got up at 530am. I worked on sorting photos and Michael went to the lobby to FaceTime friends. At 630pm Cindy’s Dad was up. I went across the street to the Town Hall train station area to fetch breakfast, Danish. The room had coffee. We left the hotel at 730am and returned to the Sydney airport, but the domestic section. Prior to departing, we waited in the Qantas Business Lounge. Our flight to Ayers Rock was delayed by 40 minutes. The pilot indicated the cause was due to strong ... read more

Sorry for the delayed post of my blog. Internet is hard to find and very expensive. We arrived at the Sydney airport around 6:30am. A successful flight but not much sleep by me, however Michael and Cindy’s Dad fairly well. Prior to landing we a good breakfast to start our day with an omelet, yogurt, croissant, and fresh fruit. What a great experience in business class on United. Once we disembarked from the plane, we received an express pass to move through immigration. This process normally could take 20+ minutes, however we went through the process in 5 minutes. Since we did not check our bags we were able to move quickly through security and out to a cab. By the way, it is winter time here, so it is freezing cold. We arrive at our ... read more

Today is our first day of our awesome trip to Australia, the land down under. Michael, Cindy’s Dad and I arrived at the Houston airport (IAH) around 3:15pm. Our flight was scheduled for 5:20pm. Before going to the gate we stopped at the United Club in Terminal E for a few beverages and snacks. We began boarding at 4:40pm. We were very fortunate to be in first class for our first leg of the flight. Cindy’s Dad was very generous to miles to upgrade Michael and I. As mentioned, our flight was scheduled to depart at 5:20pm, however the fueling crew had difficulty loading the fuel. We were delayed 40 minutes. We finally left at 6:00pm. While on the plane, United served a great dinner. There were two choices, short ribs or penne pasta. Michael and ... read more

Sunday, March 18, 2012 Sadly, we had to leave today to return to reality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Japan. A couple of observations made about Japan. 1. There are no people on the streets begging (we did see two homeless people at the Tokyo train station). 2. Everyone that we encountered spoke a little English to get by. 3. Everyone bows out of respect. 4. No trash cans anywhere except in the hotel room or in the toilet area of the trains. 5. There is no trash anywhere 6. Everyone respected each other no matter what. 7. People would come out of nowhere to help us. 8. When the Japanese are sick, they all wear mask. 9. A lot of school children were seen on tours. 10. The Japanese seem to be ... read more

Saturday, March 17, 2012 Today is St, Patrick’s day in the US. We have not been home for St. Patty’s day in years, always been traveling. We are scheduled to visit Nikko today. This is about a two hour train ride. Cindy and Jenny slept in today, almost 8:00 am before they woke up. I got Michael up because he wanted to work out. Today was the only rainy day of our trip. It was light, but annoying and very cold. After a very quick breakfast (not as good as the Osaka Hilton), we reserved a train to Nikko. We had to take two trains, a JR rail and then a local train. This city is a fairly small and easy to walk around. We did not arrive until 1:30 pm, the site we ... read more

Friday, March 16, 2012 Today we were up early. We were checking out of the Hilton Osaka a day early. We decided since our trip was delayed a day, we should go back to Tokyo to visit a few more sites before returning home. After a quick breakfast, we headed to the train station to go to Nara. The train ride should only take 45 minutes, however not today. It took two hours. We are not sure what happened, but we think either our train had an issue or there were other trains delaying our trip. This is our second trip to Nara. We visit here in 2002. Today we are visiting the Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Three Story Pagoda, and several deer on the way. Nara is a fairly large city, however ... read more

Thursday, March 15, 2012 I was up at 5:00 am this morning. Since everyone was still asleep, except Jenny, I went to the hotel lobby to work on my blog. When arriving in the lobby there was a man, in a suit with his briefcase, sleeping in a chair. Within 10 minutes he moved to the floor for sleeping. By 5:30 am, it looked hotel security woke him up and asked him to leave. This is pretty funny. Jenny was skyping a friend when I returned to the room around 6:45 am. We headed to breakfast around 8:00 am. Breakfast was as good as Wednesday. I had the yummy Miso Soup again. We made our way to the Osaka train station to get our seat reservation for our journey to Hiroshima. We arrived around ... read more
