Geo: 51.063, -1.31649 We enjoyed a lovely morning at Sonehenge. Stonehenge is an amazing prehistoric monument. We were in awe seeing the large standing stones. From there we travelled along lovely country roads to Avebury which is also a site of large standing stones, but these surround the village of Avebury. This site is older than Stonehenge. Both were very impressive to see. Tonight is our last night of our fabulous 3 month trip around the world. We really do not want it to end.... read more

Geo: 51.48, -0.605995We arrived in England after a very long flight from Sydney. It was 8 hours from Sydney to Singapore and then another 13 hours from there to London. We were quite happy to get off that plane. We picked up our rental a car and it was off to Windsor Castle. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. We really enjoyed our tour of the castle. It was interesting to see the state rooms, St.George's Chapel and the lovely grounds. The Queen was in residence while we were there, as it was Ascot Weekend. Ascot is the famous horserace. It is a very prestigious event. We saw lots of people dressed in their best finery for the event.Later that day we visited Winchester which is a lovely country town ... read more

Geo: -37.8143, 144.963On June 10th we arrived at Melbourne airport and were welcomed by the familiar faces of our friends Linda and Geoff. They graciously put us up at their lovely home. The weather here is much cooler than what we were enjoying at Clifton Beach. Linda and Geoff were wonderful hosts and were kind enough to show us many of the wonderful sights in Melbourne and the surrounding countryside. On our first day in Melbourne ,Geoff took us on a walking tour of the city's downtown where we enjoyed seeing such sights as Federation Square, The Royal Exhibition Building, The Shrine of Remembrance, Flinder Street Station, and wandering through charming laneways and arcades full of eateries and coffee shops. The next day we drove out to the Yarra Valley where we saw miles and miles ... read more

Geo: -16.7631, 145.672For the past week we have had fun exploring the Cairns area and soaking up the warm sun. It is a beautiful area full of lush rainforest, wonderful mountain ranges and long stretches of sandy beaches. We have been up to Port Douglas a few times. On one trip we did a day sailing and snorkelling trip of the Great Barrier Reef. We saw some amazing coral gardens. Port Douglas is a lovely little town. We also spent some time watching kite surfing at Yorky's Knob beach. One day we travelled north of Port Douglas to an area called the Daintree where we did a hike through a rainforest at Mossman Gorge. We also enjoyed strolling along Wonga Beach and doing a hike at Davies Fall. It is sad to have to leave such ... read more

Geo: -16.7631, 145.672Today we did a lovely drive up into the Atherton Tablelands. It is a rich farming area which also has ancient volcanic lakes and tropical rainforests. We enjoyed the Barron Falls at Kuranda which is a beautiful rainforest area. From there we stopped at Mareeba for coffee. The coffee beans are locally grown. It was then off to do some nice hiking at Granite Gorge, where we also enjoyed seeing Rock Wallabies. We later visited the Curtain Fig Tree and hiked around Lake Eacham. We had fun looking for wildlife and birds. Still no kangaroos!... read more

Geo: -16.7631, 145.672We arrived in Cairns on Tuesday June 2, 2010. We picked up our rental car and headed for Clifton Beach where we have rented a condo for nine nights. Our accommodation is a lovely two story condo with three bedrooms an ocean view and a lovely patio area. Since arriving we have made good use of the beautiful pool and bbq area. Our first day here we saw a kookaburra sitting on a neighbour's fence. We have yet to hear one laugh! That evening we went for a drive and found a field full of wallabies. We have still yet to see a kangaroo! The next day we explored a bit of the area where we are living and enjoyed a lovely sunset walk along the beach in front of our home.... read more
