Geo: -17.9551, 122.241On the evening of May 21 we arrived in Broome. The following morning we headed out on an organized tour through the Kimberley Area of Western Australia. We were with a group of 9 other couples. Our main destination was to travel the Gibb Road, which had just opened that morning due to road closures as a result of unseasonable rain. Our agenda had been changed a bit due to the bad roads, but we were off. There were many many hours of driving, as this area is huge. But over the eight days we did manage to see some very wonderful country and made some great new friends. Some of the trip highlights were Galvans Gorge and Emma Gorge, where we hiked into pools of water under lovely waterfalls. We also enjoyed a ... read more

Geo: -23.7004, 133.881On Monday we arrived in Alice Springs and rented a camper van to explore the surrounding area. Jim had fun driving on the wrong side of the road. We spent 5 days in the Outback and did not see one kangaroo!!! We did see camels. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over Uluru. The following morning we were delighted to view both Uluru and the Olgas at sunrise. We then spent the day hiking thru the Olgas. They were very interesting mountain formations. We did get caught in the rain here, but it just added to our adventure. The last night we stayed in Alice Springs which seems like a very nice little city.... read more

Geo: -33.8671, 151.207We have had a wonderful past two days being shown the highlights of Sydney by our friends Tanya and David. They were kind enough to take us for a wonderful drive out to the Blue Mountains where we did a few bushwalks. We also enjoyed the Aussie burger called "The Lot", which was yummy! The following day they took us sailing out in Sydney Harbour in their sailboat and also showed us a few tourist spots around Sydney. It was wonderful to have this personal tour of their lovely city. Thanks again Tanya and David. ... read more

Geo: -36.8474, 174.766We have arrived in another new country for us. Auckland is a city of 1.3 million. The temperature is definitely cooler than French Polynesia. We have rented a nice apartment on the waterfront with a great view of Auckland Harbour Bridge. We spent one day wandering around the beautiful city. There are many parks and old building facades to admire. Another day we visited Rangitoto Island which is 25 minute ferry ride from Auckland. Rangitoto has a unique volcanic landscape. We hiked up to the volcano and around the crater and enjoyed the panoramic view. I would love to see more of New Zealand, but we are now off to Syndey, Australia. It seems weird to be hearing english spoken again.... read more

Geo: -17.52, -149.56Jim and I had a fabulous time on Raimiti. It is definitely not a place everyone would like, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is unspoilt paradise. Eric and his staff were great and the food was amazing. We snorkelled a ton and now are so spoilt by everything we saw. It was very thrilling to be swimming along side sharks, octopus, etc. We really had an amazzing time. We spend our last night in French Polynesia in Tahiti. We have really enjoyed our time in French Polynesia and hope to come back someday. ... read more

Geo: -16.3254, -145.621Jim and I spent another wonderful morning enjoying Irefa Beach. The swimming was great and the scenery is so beautiful. In the afternoon we joined the other couple with us and went to a snorkelling area called the South Pass. We snorkelled in a small lagoon full of amazing fish and beautiful coral gardens. We swam among 3 ft long Napoleon fish, black tipped reef sharks, white tipped reef sharks, moray eels, and hundreds of other types of beautiful fish. Some of our favorite fish were the trumpetfish, parrotfish, angelfish, moorish idols, picassofish and many many more. We have never seen so many different fish, so close. It was pretty exciting to be so close to sharks. From the lagoon was a passage into the pass between the atoll and the open ocean, where ... read more
