With breakfast we usually have fresh pineapple, mango, papaya and bananas. Followed by a lovely long walk on the beach watching surfers. Back home and into the pool. Read, swim, read, swim… enjoy this lovely paradise. As we walked along the beach the past few days you could see young rays just a short way off shore. Fun to watch.... read more

Geo: 9.98333, -85.65Yesterday we left Atenas for our four hour drive to Playa Guiones in the province of Guanacaste. It is a surf town along the Pacific Coast. We arrived mid afternoon to our home there. This area is very humid, lush and very warm. This morning we were woken early to the sounds of howler monkeys in the trees not far from our house. After breakfast we watched a large troop of howler monkeys go thru the trees beside our house. They were all sizes and we could easily see them eating things in the trees. Very exciting. I also saw an iguana on our roof looking down on us. He looked very regal up there peering down on us. Later as we were in the pool the howler monkeys went by again and entertained ... read more

Geo: 9.98333, -84.3833Atenas is a lovely little community. We have enjoyed our stay here. We have enjoyed doing some touring of neighbouring communities. We have also enjoyed seeing some lovely birds from the home we are staying at. I was lucky to see two toucans in the neighbouring yard from us. What amazing birds. We also saw two different types of vultures - a red headed turkey vulture and a black vulture - but we want them to know that we are not that old!!... read more

Geo: 9.98333, -84.3833It was sad to leave our lovely jungle home in Uvita today. We travelled back up the coast through Quepos and Jaco. We arrived in the small village of Atenas. It is best known as having the most pleasant climate in the world, at least according to National Geographic. We will see if we agree. We will be staying in Atenas for five nights. It is definitely not as humid as Uvita was, and much less jungle-like. We miss the howler monkeys already! We are staying in a very nice home here with a very beautiful view.... read more

Geo: 9.15446, -83.7423Yesterday we visited the small Hamlet of Ojochal, which is south of Uvita. We had lunch at the Citrus Restaurant which has been said by some to be the best restaurant in all of Costa Rica. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there, especially the ceviche. We also visited the southern end of Marino Ballena National Park. A beautiful wilderness beach.Today we visited the main beach area of Marino Ballena Park. It was very beautiful and hot. As I write this the howler monkeys are letting us know they are around. Very entertaining.... read more

Geo: 9.15446, -83.7423We arrived at our jungle home just out of Uvita late on Monday afternoon. We had a nice drive down from San Jose and the roads were all good. We have a wonderful view of the jungle as well as the ocean. As we sit by our pool in the afternoons we can hear Mantled Howler Monkeys in the distance, as well as Toucans. We have yet to set eyes on them though! At night we are entertained by all the amazing jungle noises. Our lovely home has no glass windows, just screens, so you hear and smell everything. Every morning at around 5:30 am we can hear the Howler Monkeys waking up and doing their morning yell. We love it. ... read more

Geo: 9.93, -84.08Late on Thursday night we arrived at our condo in an area of San Jose called Escazu. It is an area of the city where locals as well as expats live. From our condo we can enjoy a lovely view of the city by day and night. We have spent the last few days exploring the downtown area of San Jose as well as the Escazu area. As we sat and had breakfast yesterday morning we saw a monkey swinging through the trees. I love it. There are beautiful flowers and plants everywhere. We have not taken many photos but will add a few.... read more

Geo: 53.5328, -113.503Today is the last day of our amazing trip around the world. It really has been a trip of a lifetime. We have visited some extraordinary places and will cherish these memories forever. We have had so much fun and met some interesting people along the way. We enjoyed all the countries we visited and some day hope to return to a few of them. We had so many highlights I can not begin to list them. We were away 91 days, visited 8 amazing countries, flew on 32 flights, sat at 24 different airports, spent 85 hours in planes, slept in 31 different beds, and travelled on 13 different modes of transportation. We enjoyed it all. We also sampled some delicious meals, from ceviche in Costa Rica, to steaks in Argentina, to grilled ... read more
