and so begins the final full day of my holiday. We made the most of it with an early start which turned into a rather late start by the time everyone got ready. The girls once again went shopping downtown, The guys also went downtown but bypassed the shopping. First we went to check out the WTC site, you don't realise the size of the area until you get there. There doing construction work there at the moment, they're building seven new buildings, one has already been completed (Tower number 7, which collapsed 10 hours after planes hit). Its quite strange being there, to think that around 3000 people died right where i was standing. Very strange feeling. Its the only place where you can look up and not see a building covering the sky which ... read more

Today was a great day. Not too cold, definately not too hot lol. We had a rest day today, finally got to have a sleep in. I really don't have a lot to talk about because i didnt do anything at all. The girls went out early in the day to do some shopping but i wasn't really interested in that and was too tired so i stayed home and slept some more. I didn't have any plans until tonight, We had brought tickets to go to the NFL to see the NY Giants and the Philadelphia Ealges. It was pretty good, started snowing a little bit but soon stopped. Te game was OK...way too slow though, they have fifteen minute quarters but they stretch out to about 45 minutes, too many stops in play that ... read more

Another early morning today because we had to catch the bus to head to Washington, DC. The bus trip took 4 hours but i was looking forward to getting there and seeing where all the important decisions get made the affect the whole world. We arrived at about 1130 and set off to find a place to get some lunch. Once lunch had been downed we got map and did our own tour of washington on foot mainly. First Stop, The White House. On the way to The White House we walked passed the Treasury building, there were lots of people and a secret service car out the front so we thought the president might have been there, but we wasn't. they were lining up for a tour. So we continued walking around to the south ... read more

Today we had another early start, 6am we were awake. It was -5C outside with a wind chill factor of -13C....thats cold! BUT STILL NO SNOW! dammit. The reason we got up so early was because we had to head downtown to battery park to catch the 900 ferry to battery park and we thought that we'd have breakfast midtown before we left, we also tried to account for peak hour on the subway which never really happened because the train was really quiet. so we got to battery park really early and were standing in the freezing cold waiting for 0900 to roll around. It literally was the freezing cold, the water in the gutters had frozen. Icicles were forming on the pipes if the subway, it was all kinds of crazy cold. But we ... read more

Today we thought we'd better actually get out and do some of the touristy things in NY. So after some deliberation in the living room we decided that first we were going to go to Central Park, so we did. We caught a cab to Central ParkAlong the way there were police cars everywhere. We later found out that night that a police officer shot someone dead in times square (they were apparently scamming tourists, the officer went up to them and asked for their ID, they ran off and tried to shoot the police officer...so he killed him, rightfully so...Good stuff NYPD.) Anyway... Dad, granny, mum and i caught a carriage ride through the middle of central park, it was really good but really cold, about 5C. This took about 20 minutes, we went passed ... read more

Well today everyone was a bit exhausted from the flight over here. Mums back was really sore, not sure how she hurt it but she had to go have a massage, so Lozz, dad and mum all went Uptown to the massage therapy place. Ben and I walked through midtown to Madison Square Garden to see if we could get some tickets to the Basketball which was being played tonight, which we did. Granny just stayed at home and rested because our apartment is up three flights of stairs so she finds it difficult going up and down all the time. So anyway we all met up back at the apartment once we had all done what we needed to do and the whole afternoon was pretty much spent sleeping and resting, everyone is so tired. ... read more

Today was the start of an exciting day, movning from the west (reasonably warm and sunny) to the east (bloody cold and wet) haha. But before that we still had half a day to do whatever we could in LA. We started by talking a drive and a walk down Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills. There is a lot of big houses in this street and down a bit further there is alot of premium brand shops like Tiffany's, Gucci, Dior, and the list goes on and on and on. There were a set of earings in one of the shopfront windows for $5000......you get the idea, This is Beverly Hills afterall. After we were finished with looking at stuff we couldn't afford we drove back to Hollywood to see if the chinese theatre was doing ... read more

Early this morning we woke up to a massive storm that was passing over San Diego, according to the news they hadn't seen storms like this in 30 years in Southern California, so that was lovely to drive to Los Angeles in. I was fairly tired because we woke up at 6 in the morning so i slept for the first hour or two in the car. We stopped at Laguna Beach for breakfast in a nice little Diner on the beach. The food was great! Then we kept going on to Los Angeles still in this storm that was hitting the coast, what made it better was that it was peak hour traffic in LA when we got there. LOVELY! haha once we got past LA we went onto Hollywood which is where we spent ... read more

Today was the first day of the whole trip that we could actually sit down and just relax all day. It was good too, i think we all needed it. Had a BBQ for lunch and couple of drinks. We were supposed to go to Seaworld but we were all too tired. This morning though we did get a treat, dolphins playing just out the front of our apartment. Later in the afternoon we did however go downtown for about an hour just to see what it was like. We saw the USS Midway which is an Aircraft Carrier which was been turned into Museum. The ship was huge!!! took some good photos. Tonight we went to a chinese restaurant for dinner. Tonight is our last night in San Diego. We say goodbye to San Diego ... read more

North America » Mexico » Baja California » Ensenada December 5th 2009

Well we were very lucky to get this day trip to mexico. We called up the company when we were at the zoo yesterday and they said they were all booked out. When we got home last night we looked up some websites on the internet and found a telephone number for last minute bookings. This time they said that they cancelled the tour because there weren't enough customers. We told them that there was 6 of us going, and that was enough to convince them to take us. So in the end we got an exclusive trip to Ensenada, Mexico. It was so strange, as soon as you cross the border everything changes. Road signs are in spanish, Streets are dirty, the whole look of the place is different. We travelled along the border fence ... read more
