Thesaurus
No thesaurus, weighs too much and is very uninteresting reading

Interesting to see if you find any trace of Dad's family in & around Mt. Magnet. I'm not sure of all names but Bryden & Krakour (?spelling?) seem to spring to mind. Stay alert, I used to be bundled off to the Rellies for school holidays on the train with cousin Noreen. I think Mum & Dad needed a break from their most troublesome child ME. Dad used to work up there when in the Railways for a time.

Yalgoo, Youanmi and Mount Magnet
Thank you again Chris for the blog and photos. I have fond memories for each location. Yalgoo as social town for exploration at Golden Grove. (See historic wayside inn site and grave at Golden Grove.) Maybe Scuddles mine still goes, maybe not. Mount Magnet pubs good for a cold beer on 48 degree day. Youanmi was where we were mining. Now probably back to ghost town status. Happy travelling.

A Great Little Town
Thank you Chris for your comprehensive report on Sandstone; visually and verbally pleasing. It's much more an oasis than I'd imagined. The closest I've been to Sandstone is either Wiluna, Youanmi, or Golden Grove

Ace blogs once again.
Loved all of them. Really look forward to them, so informative & well written. Your camera is working overtime AND doing a great job. The window of the church is spectacular, in fact the whole interior & exterior is very photogenic. All the scenery photos of the areas are so clear & colourful.

Ancestral Resting Places
Thanks for the offer Chris but both great-grandfathers buried in Kanowna (pioneer) cemetery. Mays and Sullivan; Mays died 1900 and Sullivan 1903. Their respective widows survived to 1914 and 1918. Nurse Mays is in Boulder Cemetery in Anglican section, Ellen Sullivan is in the Roman Catholic section in the Kalgoorlie cemetery. Enjoy your fossicking.

Names
No Muldownies - they are the Scottish lot. Look for Clarke, Sullivan, Radcliffe - but I don't think anyone died there. Born , lived, moved on.

Meekatharra
My mum was born in Meekatharra and my grandparents worked in Cue, Daydawn, Wiluna, Sandstone and Meeka. My uncles worked in the dame area, predominantly at Big Bell. You are in God's Own country!

God's own country
I can feel the aura Shirley, didn't see any Muldowney headstones in the cemetery.

Dad's Birthplace
Looking forward to your blog and photos from Sandstone. I've never been there but it's where my father was born in 1908, and my Aunt Marg in 1911. My grandfather was Winder Driver on the Blackstone Range Gold Mine while grandmother was housewife / mother to 4 kids (at that stage) the other 2 had been born in Kanowna in 1903 and 1905. Have heard only good reports re Sandstone -- hope it lives up to its reputation.

Too much civilisation...
Good grief: toilets at Niagara, bitumen at Kookynie...what is the world coming to?

Great Photos Again
Biafra Dam looks great, in fact the whole looks so improved. Does The Wookie make noises?

The Pubs of Kookynie
Great blogs Christine. A bit further into the remnant streets there is a pile of rubble which Margaret assured us had once been the Shamrock, owned and run by Paddy & Bridget Shine, my maternal grandparents, from about 1911 to 1920. A great little ghost town with an impressive roundabout. Safe travelling.

Forgotten tart
The 'left behind' tart was taken to work and gobbled up for afternoon tea! Teresa says thank you.

Leadlights
LOVE your cat window! This is a talent of yours that I was unaware of :)

Homesick?
Do I detect a future return to Kal????
8th June 2014

Homesick
Just can't afford to Shirley - houses prices are horrendous here even in the current downturn. We could perhaps get a very big caravan and live in either Mary or Mieke's back garden, or have two big caravans and move from one to the other...

Can't Believe It
What an informative article you have given us, makes me ashamed of how I have previously defamed poor old Boulder. You certainly uncovered far more History & have brought it to life not only for myself but Rob who knew nothing of the stage curtain etc etc etc. several other followers of this blog will go off, make a cuppa then settle down to re-read it & remember their own memories of The Goldfields in general. You have opened a real can of worms for all of us. As I write this, Rob is at the computer communicating with John Sullivan (MOLDY) who will love this posting & as he is Conversational Lunching tomorrow with Mick Della Marta will be armed with the making of the longest conversational Lunch ever. Johns Wife Marg nee Margaret Robinson, a very prominent Goldfields name will also enjoy the topics. Sheila D M seems to love hearing about their days as Youngens in & around the area. Wish we were there with them. Thank you for a great piece of History & so well written.
