Fascinating Monuments! They remind me a lot of some of the monuments I saw in Lithuania. The communists really where big on the massive concrete monuments and cubic art styles! Very interesting read as always, I've enjoyed your series from Bulgaria a lot and I look forward to seeing where your travels take you next!
Rila and Roads I loved the Rila Monastery, easily one of the most beautiful I've ever visited and I feel that t should in it's own right make Bulgaria a bigger attraction for tourism. I really love that quote and it's wonderful that you come upon it on a road trip where you also go hiking a lot! :-D I should really visit Plovdiv also seeing how I love Roman ruins.
Love it There is something about bold lines and angles in architecture Ake...grabs whether one likes them or not. I for one love the drama in your images in this blog.
Photograph Hello- I really liked your photograph'Enjoy Communism' is there any way that you can send me a copy of it to my email, and can I get your permission to post it on my Facebook page? I think that it is really cool, the way it is done.
It was an unexpected oasis We went there to see the bridge but ended up find not only that but also an oasis. We stayed there much longer than planned and loved it. /Ake
Monuments Monumental displays of grand proportions!! Wowee! Is this strong and serious characteristic reflected in the people that you met? Thanks for sharing this blog! Sheri
Of course I don't mind You won't believe how happy it makes me that you read our blog entries and actually find them interesting enough to make comments. I love everybody who makes me happy.
Also your comments have on many occations helped me make the blog better. I could use your infomation and improve what I have already created. It is absolutely wonderful that you help me like that. I am a very lucky person to have you and a few other friends who from time to time tell me when I either did not understand something myself or I even got things totally wrong. I owe you a big thanks. I'll buy you a lunch some day for that. /Ake
We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
