Aimless wandering
Gotta say that often is our favourite way to go...allows one to soak up the vibe of a place and spend plenty of time at places that take your fancy. I know why other couch-surfers can keep the light on when others are trying to sleep. They couldn't give a rats about others so glad you took it between your teeth and got up and turned the light off!

Aimless wandering
Aye, very true my dancing friend. Just wandering around is a great way to see parts of a place that is off the beaten track. For example I wouldn't have gotten to the breathtaking Church of Saint Ludmila otherwise. =) Yeah, I don't know why someone would act so inconsiderate. As I said, I get the computer, if you have work or just some communication to do, fine. But keeping the light on as bright as day in the middle of the night. I don't get that at all. =)

Amazing pictures!!!
Looks like a beautiful country Per-Olof. Guess it was too much to pass up to not get into the armour and have a battle or two!

I've seen some pretty cool metal street art in my travels. The Chinese are pretty good at it. This Slovakian one is a cracker!

A couchsurfer in a small world!
What a way to go--couchsurfing and meeting great people in Europe, where everything seems relatively close! So, times have changed. When I visited in November in the late '90s, there weren't many tourists, and I had the Powder Tower almost to myself. On the other hand, at the National Museum. there was always a guard watching only me--pretty creepy. I think I prefer your tourists in the tower.

Indeed Tara, things certainly change with tourists. Sometimes for good sometimesoon for bad. Couchsurfingen is a great way to travel; you meet so many people and get an experience out of the ordinary. :-)

Great journey!
I've also very much enjoyed traveling through Southeast Asia with you. How wise to spend a perfect last day in a peaceful temple and at the gorgeous Jim Thompson house--he sounds like an extraordinary man. Until your next travels--peace.

It's wonderful your travels have taken you to about 50 or more countries by now Per-Olof. Your time in Thailand sounds nothing short of wonderful. Yet it's soon time for contemplation my friend...due to your travel itch you've gotta consider where to next!!!

I feel blessed to have been able to travel as I have. I will hit the big 5-0 next year, I've chosen my 50th nation with care, Japan, the country I've dreamed about ever since I saw James Clavell's Shogun as a boy! =)

I have some connection with Jim Thompson...
my Dad helped him find the traditional silk weaving villages in northeastern Thailand. And when he went missing on Easter Sunday 1967, I and my fellow high school students spent three days hunting for him the jungles of the Cameron Highlands. As a token of their appreciation, his company donated 400 meters of silk for the cover of our school yearbook. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your time in SE Asia! I've enjoyed your blogs.

I have some connection with Jim Thompson...
It is a small world after all sometimes. Just today I read Dave's blog about meeting you and Linda at the same time as I set out on the journey that would take me to Jim Thompsons house and now I learn that you had a connection with him, quite amazing. :) I'm happy that you enjoy my blogs, I certainly enjoyed SE Asia, it is such a wonderful region of the world!
