So Carolyn left today at around 1pm. It was sad to see her leave and I'm sure she was sad to leave too. It kinda sucks to wake up in the morning after your last night out on the beach we people you met, take your last swim, and enjoying the stressfree life and have to leave it behind to go back to work... Phew.. that was a long sentence. WEll I hope she enjoyed her trip as much as I'm enjoying mine. I'm now on my own from now on and really looking forward to this new adventure ahead of me. Right now it's still the same, doign nothing on the beach and still enjoying it. There's another guy staying at the same "huts" as me, Bart.. another fellow Canuck, so we're pretty much just ... read more

Apologies for the slack attitude to my little online diary. If it is any consolation, I haven't updated my personal journal for three weeks either. I have been in Thailand for more than two weeks now (three weeks? Kind of losing track of time). Bangkok freaked me out a little bit. I am aware that there is plenty of interesting stuff to see and do, but I decided to put off exploring the city until my return (I fly home from Bangkok) and get the hell out. So I took the night bus (what joy, what fun) down to Ko Phan Ngan, an island off the south east coast, made famous for its ability to keep the entire S.E. Asian drug industry in business whenever there happens to be a full moon. I didn't have the ... read more

... read more

So, Chance forgot to put this in the blog and I wanted to add it since it was pretty interesting. We made it back from Chaing Mai and headed to the other side of Bangkok to pick up our Indian visa. We had to drop our passports off and come back after a 4 hour wait so they could staple the visa into the ol passport. Why it takes 4 hours to do this, I don't know. Anyway, we sat in the air conditioning of the embassy wondering what to do when we decided to check out this neighborhood bar boasting happy hour from 10am to 6pm. Nice. We had a couple of beers in a completely empty bar. Shortly after our arrival we found out what keeps this bar afloat. It's a front. It's a ... read more

Vietnam We have been in Vietnam for a month now, although we have seen a good few things we've really liked we are ready to move on. Vietnam is very westernised and didn't appeal to us unlike the other South East Asian countries we've been through. Part of this could be due to looking forward to Borneo, meeting up with friends from home, and South Africa before we get home in a month!!! We started our trip in Ho Chi Minh City, where I dont think we did it justice, but we chilled out for a few days and caught up with Carole and Marie, (friends we'd previously met in Laos) and saw some of the horrors of Agent Orange in the war remnants museum. We also saw the internationally recognised photograph named "The Girl ... read more

Hi Everyone!! I am back from Vietnam and en route to Hong Kong! I had a great time in Vietnam. We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and I stayed a day there with my friends the first night but then we took a bus to another city called Da Lat. It was a six-hour bus ride, not that bad. The first day in Ho Chi Minh, my friend Annee and I went to the local market and bought tons of fabric to get clothes made at a tailor. The fabric was very cheap and there was so much to choose from. We then walked into a random tailor and were able to get our clothes made. I had previously pulled out a bunch of pictures from magazines of clothes that I wanted to get ... read more

Tuesday morning Nino and I left early for a day trip to the Pearl Farm Resort on Samal Island. The boat left at 8am and took about 45 minutes, the resort is at the end of the island so it's a reasonably long trip considerng how close Samal Island is to Davao City (DC). Upon arriving we received a welcome drink of iced tea, we then claimed a outdoor Nippa hut to put our things and went for a swim, it was high tide and the water was very clean and refreshing. After swimming we played 8 ball in the games room (2 - 1 my way) and then toured the resort in one of the resort taxis. We decided to have an early lunch, the buffet was excellent, my favourte was the Lapu Lapu fllets ... read more
