Day 2 19/02/07 - Temple Sri Chum and Temple Saphan Hin 很喜欢Sri Chum里的佛像,除了建筑的独特,佛像眉目慈祥。在建筑里无论无论你走在那个角落,佛陀都会对你发出慈祥的微笑。... read more

Farewell to wet and windy Perth. Our last couple of days has seen a dramatic shift in the weather - frequent heavyish showers with intermittent hot, sunny spells - a pain in the but when selecting what to wear. We spent the last morning in Perth killing time - we had planned to take a walk through their botanic gardens and adjacent parks (overlooking the estuary) but given the unpredicability of the weather decided against it. Our flight was extremely comfortable or as comfortable as being cooked up in a tin can flying through the air can be. Singapore Airlines lived up to expectations, flight staff were friendly, helpful and as pretty as their adverts suggest. Not only that the flight landed some 30 mins early! We had intended to take the shuttle bus or MRT ... read more

Arrived in Delhi on 3rd of March for a north India tour. The tour is facilitated by global exchange and explores effects of globalization in India, combined with sight seeing of Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Udaipur. Day one Holy day: festival of colors, is an old Hindu tradition and traditionally this has been the only day in the year that social restriction in regards to cast were ignored and everyone could participate and celebrate on equal terms in the festivities. Organic paint is used to color faces and clothes as a symbolic gesture, stemming from old Hindu mythology. A concoction of crushed Marijuana seed drink has also been traditionally consumed. But now that is topped by some very cheap spirits, and it can get pretty crazy to the point that tourists were warned to stay away ... read more

Heading back to the mainland, passing by inhospitable islands of barren rock topped only with gnarly trees I couldn't believe my three days had already passed. Chirping birds and soaring hawks replaced the constant motorbike horns and pestering touts of Hanoi. I couldn’t help but to ask, “Can we go again?” On the Water Boarding our ship a light mist encased towering mountains and ranges farther out took on a mystical blue gray colour. After fueling up on lunch we stopped at a sandy cove and headed up a dirt path that led to the viewpoint. The sun made an appearance and the sweaty uphill climb proved to be rewarding with stunning views back towards Halong City and the endless bumpy skyline that lay ahead. To cool down we braved the water swimming along the rock ... read more

Milestone! We've just finshed seeing the temples and are moving on to Phnom Penh in the morning. We flew out of Luang Prabang on Siem Reap air (subsidiary of Bangkok air - $195) direct to Siem Reap. Nice experience and quite a nice new airport at Siem Reap. Man it is hot here - it's going to hit 40C which is difficult to cope with. And its not a dry heat. The taxis here are an excellent sort of motocycle-drawn chariot! Our hotel helped arrange Mr Bun Cheyrith as our charioteer for the temples. We got up early to beat the heat and set out, anxious for our first glimpse as we tooled down the tree-lined avenue. Wow, It's really good. I took so many pictures that I amazed myself, I just burned another set of ... read more

The group arrived at Chengdu at 1430. The weather was cold. Outdoor temperature was around 13 degree celsius. Wei Qing's luggage was damaged and the airport replaced it with a new one. There was a slight delay. Otherwise, everything went on smoothly. The group was recieved by the Principals of Deyang Foreign Languages School. We took an air-conditioned bus to Deyang. The bus journey was about 1 hr and 30 mins. Upon arrival, we unloaded the luggages and then proceed for lunch. The Chinese had buffet lunch in school while the Muslim teacher and students had lunch in a Halal restaurant. Some students commented that the food was too spicy. After lunch, the students went back to their hostel. They quickly unpacked their bags and proceed to the meeting room, where eager parents and buddies were ... read more
