Traveling to Koh Phi Phi is a ferry good time Unlike our trip to Kohh Lanta on our speed boat, this time we traveled with the common people. Twice a day, ferry boats leave from Kohh Lanta to take the 1 hour trip to Koh Phi Phi, laden with sunburnt people, beat up backpacks and a few unwieldy rolling suitcases. After grabbing breakfast at the hotel - they actually made American pancakes with maple syrup, Mike and I were sooo excited! - we loaded up our packs and headed to Reception to check out and wait for someone to pick us up and take us to the ferry. It seems the hotel had “forgotten” that we had booked the ferry ride through them the day before and were obligated to get us a van/taxi to ... read more

This welcome party was organized for the new MBA students and took place in the evening. All the staff of the International Program Office of Lingnan wore traditional clothes and sang karaoke. All Chinese people love karaoke! The emperor is in yellow and nobody should wear yellow color apart him. The “first lady” is in red. It is a man disguised in woman here but we can’t make the difference as far as he is very well disguise! Even the presenter sang! I should say here that they sing very well compare to me! I’m sure I will go to karaoke for fun soon… Finally, the evening finished at 10:00 PM and I met my buddy for the first time. Her name is Vivian and she is on my right on the picture. The girl on ... read more

So I'm a little late - I'm actually back in Om beach already, but I have to tell you guys about Holi. It is a Hindu holiday to celebrate the ending of winter and the beginning of Spring. People have prayer the night before, then somtimes make fires and stay up late (some are drinking all night). In the morning the COLOR starts, and people throw and rub colored powder or shoot and dump colored water at eachother. I was in Mumbai - and by the time I got to breakfast I was cover in color. After I ate, a family invited me to their home for a "Happy Holi." Their house was one very small room, but the fed me cake, sweets, rice vegetables, and offered fresh crab they were about to make. There was ... read more

Wed 7th March Well, to be honest we didn't really do a lot today. We walked around a bit, changed some money, saw central/new market, went to the British Embassy to sort out Leanne's lost phone (they wouldn't let us in!) and that was about it. Oh, we did watch V for Vendetta at the hotel on DVD. It was a bit weird, not really having seen TV for 2 months now. Thu 8th March Today we hired a Moto each - This is meant going on the back of a motorbike at stupid speeds, going the wrong way down one-way streets, up pavements and all without a helmut -Oh, and Leanne's driver was about 14. They drivers took us to see Choeng Ek and Toel Slong. Choeng Ek is known as the killing fields, it ... read more

JOEPIEE!!!

On Koh Phi Phi there are no cars, no mopeds, no traffic, in fact there are no roads whatsoever, how refreshing! The beaches around the island are accesible by long boat, kayak or a short trek. Today (saturday) we took a kayak to a small secluded bay where we were alone with the sand and sunshine for most of the day. The paddling took it out of us both and coming back we were tempted to pay a long boat for a tow. After a few breaks we eventually made it back to shore and have just been to a lovely little italian pizzeria for dinner. Going to stay here for another 3 nights then head to Koh Lanta for the remaining 10 days before a short stay in Bankok where we fly to the UK ... read more

Family, I arrived safely last night. As if you had any worries, and I'm being taken care of. The pastor of the church here picked me up, and today his son (he told me to call him Nic) has been chauffering me around the city. I didn't think anything would be more crowded and noisy than Cairo, but I think I've found it here in Mumbai (Bombay). I was extremely nervous about my work here, but as time passes, I feel more and more excited and at peace about God's will for me here. Truthfully, I kind of forgot why I was coming and seeing the city today reminded me why I want to spend my life in medical service. You can ask for more details on that revelation when I return. I'm truly in God's ... read more

Still having a fantastic time in Nepal. Just got to Pokara today from Chitwan National Park. We had a good time there, elephant riding, saw rhinos, peacocks, crokodile and more. From Katmandu we went on a two day rafting down to near by Chitwan. It was so much fun. I'd never gone rafting before and really thought l would die but it wasn't that hard. We stayed overnight on the riverbank in a tent, sang Icelandic and Nepali songs around a campfire. It was the best. Now we're gonna stay a few days in Pokhara and then head back for India. Time sure flyes when you're having fun. ... read more
