I accept full responsibility. You may have already guessed but just to confirm it, this is a Rob entry. I’ve been tasked with providing the correct details of our journey to Mui Ne. Amy will vet this but so far these are all my own words and this represents a true account of the day. We were picked up in Nha Trang at 8am and then driven around the town for a further 40 mins before being asked to change to a different bus only 50 meters from our starting point! That could have been an extra hour in bed but I guess we didnt have to carry our packs the whole 50m! We finally moved off expecting to reach Mui Ne by about 1pm where we were hoping to secure a lovely beach front bungalow ... read more

Okay okay... the last few blogs have been a bit long but this one is going to be relatively quick because all we did was lay horizontal getting up to eat. : ) Firstly - our hotel is wicked. Its acutally on Par with the Bali hotel and because of the location and Mui Ne itself it prob overtakes Bali very slightly. We got a very good deal booking through James which makes us even more impressed with him. The hotel has cable TV, hot water a GIGANTIC swimming pool and is right on the beach with its own restaurant The staff are really friendly too. We 'mentioned' it was our honeymoon (WELL technically it still is)! and later on on our first day we got a basket of fresh fruit and wine from the mgt. ... read more

Hi all our blog-followers out there. Sorry no blog for a while but our trip has come to a resounding stop in Mui Ne! No, not trouble but the beautiful chilled out blue ocean beach resort by the fantastic white sand coastline that exists here. We only intended to stay for 2 nights but are now on to our fifth! The weather is fantastic, the beaches and food amazing and just couldn't be bothered to move on. Tomorrow alas see us heading north to Nha Trang and on from there to Danang and all the war stuff (yes more war stuff). Our mini holiday may have an impact on what we can fit in, but we decided its not all about rushing from one end of the country to the other, rather having a good time ... read more

Spent 3 days in Mui Ne, a seriously chilled out tiny beach town (there's hardly a town here really, just a single road) a few hours north of Saigon. No traffic, hardly any cars and just 22km of sandy beach - perfect! It's really windy so it's a haven for kite surfers and windsurfers, which means the sea isn't great for swimming, but we were literally just doing nothing - staying in cute little wooden bungalows right on the beach, and rolling out of bed to sit on deck chairs on the beach, drink fruit shakes, watch the amazing kite surfers and by night, eat seafood and drink cocktails - bliss! Didn't realise how exhausted I was from travelling as have been constantly on the go for at least the last month and desperately needed a ... read more

Firstly in response to comments regarding our experiences in Vietnam so far. We have been away for 2 months now so can hardly call ourselves seasoned travellers, but we will refuse to see the world through 'rose coloured spectacles' like so many travellers we meet. We experience the good the bad and the ugly and the number of times we see people pointing at a pile of ugly bricks announcing "How wonderful and Beautiful it is!" simply baffles us. Still so early on in our travels we have already seen sights that will stay with us for the rest of our lives, but you have good and bad days and roll with it! using this blog to make light of some of the less pleasant experiences along the way. Vietnam continues to fascinate us, but truth ... read more

So I spent a couple of days at the beach in Mui Ne, but have no photos to prove it... Was only there for a couple of days, and I guess I didn't find the scenery all that inspiring, but also I was just being lazy and enjoying having some beachtime to myself before my return to Australia! My first impression of the beach at Mui Ne was pretty good, it was great to go for a swim in the ocean after a couple of months of being in high temperatures in Asia and being so far away from the sea. But the next day, in the morning when the tide went out, I realised just how dirty the water actually was. I guess it makes sense with Vietnam having a population of around 80 million, ... read more

We spent 7 days in this rainless and beautiful spot in Vietnam. Melanie and Sven gave this to us as a wedding present...(thank you so much for this, it was wonderful). We had a great time, the resort was very nice and we id almost nothing but relax. One day we hired a jeep and a driver to take us to the "Sahara of Vietnam"- the white sanddunes. We were sliding from the dunes and bathing in the not really clean water (but cleaner than what we were after sliding) of the lake next to the dunes. Then we moved on to the "Red Canyon" and the "Red sunddunes". We made a stop in a Fishing village, which was impressive and it kind of smelled like fish...... At the end we walked through the "Fairy stream" ... read more

Horah we've escaped Cambodia! and now were in Vietnam, 3rd country in 6 weeks! The roads are even crazier here, but fewer potholes, just mader drivers! When we arrived in Ho Chi Minh city we got on the back on a mo-ped with my giant rucksack and no space, I nearly fell off on every corner we took, think London rush hour but with traffic approaching from all directions, you just have to swerve through, close your eyes and prey you get through it! Ive instantly taken to this country, less harrassment, (well its done in a more poilte way!) beautiful scenery and very cheap. Ho Chi Minh has a French feel to the place, in the architecture and the street life. A great city with a buzzing backpacker area. Good bars and lots to explore. ... read more

My motorcycle trip to Phan Thiet was fabulous. I was very lucky to meet a friend from long ago who wanted to go with me. Thao happened to be in Viet Nam at the same time and had wanted to do a trip like this. All my preparation paid off. The roads we took were nicely paved, went through picturesque villages and skirted the ocean, and best of all, hardly used by trucks or cars. On the way to Phan Thiet, we crossed a ferry, rode into a rubber plantation and watched rubber sap trickle into a collecting bowl. It was amazing to see that people still collected tons of sap by hand into buckets that were carried by honda. We stopped often, took dirt roads that led to the ocean and even rode on the ... read more

Now I must admit, I wasn’t planning on heading to Mui Ne or anywhere else for that matter for a couple more days. I got into Saigon on Friday Sept. 22nd and was planning on enjoying the city sights, doing all the highlights and THEN taking off for the countryside. However, I met a very cute J boy who happened to be utterly lost without my help in translating, and come on…twist a girl’s rubber arm, we went to the beach together for three days;) So, that means I’ll write about Saigon at the end of my time in Vietnam! Mui Ne is 200km NE of Saigon on the coast of the South China Beach (it took more then 4 hours by bus…). The beach was full of white sand, but unfortunately the water itself was ... read more
