Well, today we had a really cool day - we hired a motorbike!!! wooohooo! Its only a little rev and go type thing, but still it was a really cool way to explore the island. We set off at about 10am, and by 3pm we had driven the whole way around koh samui, it is beautiful. Think we both didnt realise just how much the sun gets through even when you are cool with the wind blowing - so we have got extremely burnt on our shoulders - poooooooooo! WE stoppped off at a few places, and bought some clothes, chris needed a new t-shirt as his white one he bought is now brown! hahaha, and i needed some new trousers as i split my others! ooops :( We then tried to get onto Chaweng beach, ... read more

Hello! Its been a while since i wrote the last blog and alot has happened! I'll start with Singapore. We were only there for one day so we didnt get to see much of the city, however we did have a long walk over the river and around quite abit of the area by the cost (we wernt there long enough to pick up names as you can see!) It was a very impressive city with alot of culture and it definetly had a certain buzz about it. We also took a boat trip round some of the surrounding islands, such as the tortoise island (appropriately named as apparently a giant turtle saved two drowning fisherman and returned them to land, the two men then built a massive temple as an offering... as you do) It ... read more

Hello all! We arrived safely on the southern island of Ko Pha Ngan a fewe days ago, and were immediatly hit with a massive culture shock! We are staying in a beach hut, literally a few paces from the ocean, with the most spectacular view. Surrounded by cocunut trees and jungle. The water is like like stepping into a bath its so hot. Also what we thought were rocks in the water turned out to be coconuts whuch have fallen from the trees. Kyle made me do a rediculously long walk the other day and pretended it was just an hour...so four hours later, very hot and exhausted we arrived at the next town!! My muscles still ache now. It was Thai New Year the 13th and they celebrate with an enormous water fight, all the ... read more

Well, I hope everyones enjoying their Easter break! We just celebrated New Years in Thailand, so I guess our calenders are a bit mixed up. Emily and I have searched high and low for a nice Christian church to attend the Easter Vigil at, but we've only come accross a number of Buddhist temples welcoming us to pray with them. It's been tempting. Well, Emily and I are still enjoying ourselves on the beach. It's become somewhat quieter now that all the Thai people have gone back to Bangkok after the New Year. It's nice! Every night, if it's not storming rain (like it was last night), Emily and I go for hour to hour and a half walks along the beach. It's awesome! Well, that's about all I can update. There probably won't be any ... read more

I'm really excited. oh Marie and i searched for hours to try and find a catholic church so we could go to a mass for Easter. we failed. the closest thing to a church was a buddist temple. so we went in made ourselves at ... read more

After our crazy ride from Kampot, we stayed in Bangkok for 2 days... just long enough to book a bus/boat combo to Ko Phangan, one of the islands in the southhh... Bangkok kinda lost it's appeal the second time there... but we met a cool dude from near home, and Sarah got her hair dyed and brushed (for the first time since we left Cannnada!). That took an afternoon... So after an only slightly disturbing bus ride (movies 24/7, and friiigid air-con!!!!), we hopped on the ferry, and arrived here!!! We got a bungalow with the first dude that approached us, but lucky for us, it was awesome! Our place is on the hill above one of the mre secluded beaches, with an ammmmmazing sunset view. Cool staff, too... one of the guys talks in Australian ... read more

Songkran in Bangkok Ok, so I wouldn't say that we left Koh Lanta kicking and screaming. However, the thought of Bangkok with all it's noise, pollution, cars, dogs and hawkers wasn't "ideal". After a ferry journey with some sun baking and the obligatory "slip, slap slop", all to the sound of George Harrisons "My Sweet Lord" we jumped on a plane and touched down two hours later. Taxi please sir - We were immediately reminded that we were in the midst of Songkran - The Water Festival/Thai New Yearwith groups of 10-15 people on the back of a pick up truck throwing alot of water at every other traveller enjoying the festivities. The slow realisation that we have the following to contend with painted an interesting picture in our minds: 4 bags and 30+kg's of luggage. ... read more

Alas the old blogs are beginning to run away from me. I'm in northern Vietnam at the moment (actually China since I wrote that bit), it's mid-June and the World Cup is on. So as you can imagine, I'm not really feeling the motivation to tell you about stuff I was doing 2 months ago. I could try to attribute the shameful laziness to some kinda bug that I've picked up while travelling but I don't think any of you would believe me. So I'll leave it to my travel-buddy, flatmate and all-round good guy Enda Stankard to take you through our trials and tribulations since we fled Bangkok after Songkran. Plagiarism was always something I did well. And he's got the knack, I'm sure you'll agree... __ To be honest we were glad to get ... read more
