We got the Bargain Air Asia flight from KL to Phuket. we stayed at the 'Kata Villa' for one night for less than 5pounds! We originally planned to stay only 2-3 nights but ended up staying for 10. This was partly because we were getting a bit fed up of moving around so much and I got the flu. It was so cheap we thought it would be best to stick here for a bit and they had MUTV for Jason. There's not really much more else to write as we enjoyed doing sod all for a while. We did go and see the 'James Bond Island' which was used in 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. It was nice to see but so touristy its difficult to get a picture of the rock without getting ... read more

Day 1: Arrived in Phuket at 1pm from Kuala Lumpur. Waited ages to get through immigration - apparently they were in the midst of changing their system. Weird how there was no customs check. Took a minibus/van to Patong Beach where they stopped halfway at a travel agent and we got our accommodation and a trip to Phi Phi Island booked. I noticed we were the only ones who booked anything with them - but then again, the other tourist were probably more prepared. We were just hoping to wing it once we got there! Spent some time combing the beach at Patong. We noticed a portion of the beach where there were just Caucasian men and their 'lady-boys'. A little bit freaky for me. Sort of a glimpse into a world without women. *shudder* We ... read more

I am a little overdue in updating the travel blog, but the Internet was pretty slow and expensive on Koh Tao, and so I thought that I would wait till I got to the UK- staying with my cousins who have broadband at the moment, which is lovely change! I decided that I was going to stay on Koh Tao for a couple of extra days from the pictures I am sure that you have no idea why I wanted to stay there- plus I wanted to do an open water diving course and didn't have enough time if I stayed with the tour. Kieran and I were sharing a room that was up on the hill looking out over the sea, luckily there was a tree that shaded the hut because it was so, so ... read more

I have just been enjoying a Mai Tai by the beach (this is actually a Thai drink 'Mai' means silk because the drink is as smooth as silk and comes in a pineapple!). Unfortunately Keryn had only just managed to cart her one of these rather awkward drinks down to the beach chairs outside our hotel and then knocked it while trying to take a photo of me and it went all over the ground! Oh dear... poor lass. They are 200TB which is about $8nz, which is pretty dear by standards here. I don't know if I explained about that cat in the last entry that was in the cage. He travelled with us on our WHOLE 12 hour train ride in the sleeper train with his owner. Poor little bugger was very well behaved ... read more

If the essence of idleness is doing nothing then i think that i'm doing the idleness thing rather well, I have honestly done bugger all. Nada, nothing, ziltch, slacked around like never before. Beach, pool, cocktails, beach, pool, cocktails etc etc etc....untill the end of time. Which is why i haven't updated this in a day or so....slack bugger! Well apart from yesterday, i went to James Bond Island. No shopping, no shopping. Believe me there is shopping on James Bond Island!, in fact it's like a strip mall, im sure that Ronald McDonald is looking to set up shop. Met up with a South African couple on their honeymoon, they were cool. In luuuuuuurve baby. There were these Japnese dudes there; ok Hawaiian shirts can be cool (you know - the floral design thing) and ... read more

Khao Sok national park was beautiful. I arrived there and most of us decided to jump into the river. So I wore my sandals in and cooled off before having lunch. We were staying in the most CUTE little cottages in amongst the bush, there was heaps of wild life, but we managed to keep most of them at bay with a large amount of mosquito netting on all windows and around the beds. We got a little gecko on board to eat them as well. So after lunch we all thought it was going to be a great idea to go down the river on a tube for a couple of hours. So we all trundled off and Keryn says to me "Hey... don't say anything to the others, but there are leeches in the ... read more

Love. Yeah it's pretty cool. Saw some shining examples of it yesterday. Firstly, we had some eastern european's show up yesterday. I was in the pool recovering from acrobatics having a chat with some yanks when this studly dude showed up. He was the alpha male, tall, slim, great teeth, dude was working his booty. Thing was right; his wife (yes folks - wife) was at least 150 kgs heavier than him, at least. She was a whole hunk of woman. And i'm not being unkind here, but she didn't do much for the whole self improvement thing. They went swimming and kissed and cuddled for about an hour, it was kinda weird, this guy was a runway model and she stole the pies. But hey love is blind, and although it was kinda weird, it ... read more

Hey Everyone, We found this super cheap internet place so we thought we'd write another quick blog. We are now on the island of Ko Pha Ngan, just an hour and a half boat ride from Koh Tao. The island is quite a bit bigger, but its gorgeous. We are staying at a place called the Salad Beach Resort (http://www.phangan.info/saladbeach/). After looking at the website, I think we got this place for a steal! We are only paying 900 Baht/day (about 20 USD) and it goes for 1700 Baht /night during the low season (which is right now). Lucky us! Last night we stayed at a place called Haad Son Resort. They had a great pool and the beach was nice. The rooms were ok, except for the massive amount of ants crawling on the walls, ... read more

Mum; do not read any further, you will not appreciate this much. Stop now! My head crackin life style caught up on me last night, about 10pm, at the pool... The rain was pouring down, it was still 30 degrees, everything i had was soaked. Pool Party! There were six of us before the Chinese group showed up. At the pool having a wee drink (oh man this has got to stop). Well soon enough (and half a bottle of southern comfort) we decided to go for a swim. There's me, Tony & Maxine (english couple - mid 40's), another couple from England and a Jamacian dude. And about fifteen million Chinese dudes. Party on maaaan! The Chinese team made a hasty retreat when they saw our party, which just confirmed to us that we were ... read more

...I should be dead by now. Apparently if you drive a car over here you are only likely to die if you are hit by a truck or a bigger car (refer; newtonian physics etc). A motorcycle rider is quite likely to die, sooner or later (refered to as ; 'organ donors'), pillion passengers are more likely to die (no helmet required). Dumb arse farangs who haven't riden a motorbike in ages are a dead cert. add in some dodgy roads, stray dogs, rush hour, elephants crossing the road (i'm not joking!) and you may as well just book a spot for the casket. (it gets better) Ok now chuck in a bit of roadworks, two beers (i was driving), nighttime (!!!!!!!!) and rain (!!!!!!!!!!) & hey baby, common sense has gone on holiday too! You ... read more
