Merry xmas everyone. Hope you all had a good day! Due to current world events : 1. The british consulate advising against travel to Indonesia (Bali inc) around the new year, and into January period due to terrorist attack warnings - Announced december 18th. 2. The massive Tsunami which has destroyed much of Thailands (amoungst other places) West coast. 3. Continuing fighting in southern Thailand. I've altered my travel plans somewhat. Instead of going to Bali (Eastern Indonesia) for the next month, I will be travelling directly to Bangkok tomorrow. After 4-7 days in Bangkok I will be heading north to Chang Mai, and then on to Laos, cambodia and Vietnam. In March I will then travel to the Islands in the bay of Thailand, East of the affected areas. This should keep me out ... read more

Thailand- Christmas in Chai Nat Province and its schools and camps * Dec. 25th, 2004 at 3:26 PM photos - Christmas class photo from the Sapphaya Elementary School for Christmas Original story with many photos here at http://ajarncharlie.livejournal.com/17065.html Christmas started for me this year by teaching 3 hours at the elementary school in Sapphaya on Christmas Eve day where I read some stories to the children and sang Jingle Bells. There was also a photo session in which a professional photographer came and took photos of the students as well as the teachers. Although the students really don’t understand the meaning of Christmas they understand it well enough that each class gave me either a card or a small gift, all of which were delightful. One couldn’t help but feel love for these kids and ... read more

Thailand was the first exotic tropical destination for Joca and me. We traveled from Belgrade to Bangkok over Moscow, by Aeroflot. It was the cheapest but I would not recommend it (airport is depressive and not heated during the night when we had to change flights, so it was a real Golgotha to arrive home). We booked a hotel over agency for the first two days to be on the safe side, but much better and cheaper accommodation can be found on spot (around Khao San). Bangkok shocked us with humidity, air pollution, diversity, people, colors, smell, orchids. It was easy to walk, take tuc-tuc, taxi, skytrain or boats on amazing river of Chao Phraya. Only several times we ate really delicious Thai food, but mostly it was rather dry and without vegetables. The best food ... read more

ooh laa. we're back from thailand and it was one hell of a road trip thanks to a bloody thunderstorm going on in region of surat thani/koh samui/koh phangan. as most of you already know, this trip was planned mainly for the full moon party (koh phangan), supposed to have taken place on the 26th of november. hagen, renga, tong ling, sonny and i left for thailand on the 24th of nov,5pm. hadyai was peaceful and great when we got there the following morning, after a 14 hr bus ride. fact: bloody newspaper (the straits times) listed hadyai as one of the most dangerous places to visit now, along with iraq! some thai lady in hadyai told us 'no go phangan, no go phangan' (or something along those lines) but didn't explain why. 5 hour ride from hadyai to ... read more

Howdy all......! Things are sweet in Bangkok, starting to get used to the heat and the pace of life here. Still staying in the same place, should be leaving on Wednesday though to head north to Chang Mai. Our guest house took our passports off us last night and they will bring them to the Laos & Vietnamese embassies for us to get our Visas (for a price of course!!). The accomodation is game ball at 10 euro a night for the room. We have aircon & our own shower room which is good. Matty boy from work will be arriving tomorrow so we booked him in for 2 nights. Will take him out on the tear tomorrow night if the langer can cope with it. Went to see some temples today, most impressive indeed.....some photos ... read more

Hong Kong is dead, long live Hong Kong.....!! HK was great, would definatly recommend it as a holiday destination! Shopping was good, except we had no money or space!! All you punks who slated Bangkok..........u were SOOOOO wrong! Arrived this evening, and are staying on this little road just away from Khao San Road. It's great with all these cheapo bars that serve food. I am loving it so far. DON'T STAY ON KHAO SAN ROAD ! Accomodation = Sawasdee Thrunkrep Inn on Soi Rambutri. 500 Baht per night, cheap but adequate. Had only planned to stay 2 nights but 4/5 now looks on the cards and that would mean we can meet up with Matt Walsh and go on the lash with him. Bumped into some lads from home in Hong Kong, wouldn't you know ... read more
