Hey all, since my last update we've started uni, I'm in second level, and it's really quite hard, it'll take a bit of study to make it through this one. There's been ups and downs as with any trip, but the worst thing by far is the price of coffee!!! About $5 will get you a cup! However, beer is about half the Aussie price, with a pint weighing in at about $2.50! I've been to Lotte Department store, Seoul Tower, Namdaemun-sijang (market), and many others, however now that's all out of the way I will be studying as hard as I can. See you all soon.... read more

As instructed, I disembarked the "Airport Limousine" at a crosswalk in Yeon-hui-dong. As the bus speeds away, belching smoke, I look forlornly at the pedestrian crosswalk above me. There are no tell-tale signs that my dear friend Iris is awaiting me, no shouts of "hey ho!" or embracing arms. I have arrived two hours later than anticipated, and so, I learn to take my first directions in Korean from a service man at the nearby Exxon. I did manage to find my way to CASA DELLA LUNA, home to Mister, Missus, and Granny Moon, and also where Ki and Butter stay. I was greated with surprise and delighted hugs by all. Everyone wanted to know how I'd navigated my way. Iris was still out in the streets looking for me. Butter barked incessantly Summoned home by ... read more

Hey, I've arrived in Korea, and it is very cold. Anywhere down to -12 is quite normal. It's been great so far, the food is good, and I've already made a move from one dorm to another. The new dorm is great, the lady that runs it is really nice and she's a good cook. The university is absolutely massive and the city dwarfs it! We've done our orientation and placement test, it was hardcore, but I felt I did ok. We start classes on monday, and then 4hrs a day for the next 10 weeks. ... read more

Receiving the first stamp in your brand new blank passport is like a christening to become an avid traveler, and for that reason, I’m excited for Beau, my fraternity brother who decided to join me for my South East Asian journey, regardless the US Government’s travel warning for its citizens to Indonesia. He is willing to risk his comfort level to experience something different that the rest of the world can offer; it will be quite a shock for him, coming from the first world into a developing country. For that particular reason, I believe that developed South Korea, which definitely is a different place compared to the USA, is a good transition to bridge the two before finally jumped into the chaotic third world Indonesia. Arriving at the Seoul’s Incheon International Airport, South Korean’s immigration ... read more

Tomorrow we are OFF! It has been a great adventure here and I will miss all the people I have met during our stay. Korea is an unbelievable place and I reccomend anybody who wants to see the world to add this to your travels. They are some of the most kind and generous people you will come across and for all of you that this goes to....sincerley thank you for making this experience as good as it was. Well we are off to the Wave stricken Thailand tomorrow and I hear that everyone that survived the huge earthquake waves, has moved over to the East side, so I assume the party will go on as sad as that tragedy was and is. I have some last minute packing, so the real tour of fun starts ... read more

Well the Christmas season is upon us and here we are forced with the option of having a gift exchange among friends at a greasy chicken restuarnt that is next to our apartment, sad to some maybe, but they make a mean spicy chicken platter. We are a week away from getting off the ground here. I hope everyone back home enjoys the turkey the potatoes, stuffing, and who could forget Juniors favourite GRAVY!!!! It has been another great year, we are ready for some time off away from that work thing, I swear it is for the birds that stuff. That is all for now, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope all are healthy and happy for the New Year. ( I know you get to eat Turkey and what not ... read more

Hey hey hey Before going in New Zealand, Sarah and I spent a day in Seoul. It was a very cold day and we didn't have warm clothes to put on. Moreover, as we were not supposed to stay there, we didn't have any guide of the city and everything was written in Korean. Needless to say how unpromising our journey looked! We thus wandered about the streets. But finally we found some temples and even a shop of Hello Kitty.... it made our day!

Jeremy: We arrived back in Busan from Singapore around 8 AM and didn’t do much because of sheer exhaustion. One of our fellow teachers had been kind enough to offer up her apartment for us and she planned on staying with another teacher. We found out that she altered her plan and had decided to stay in our old apartment even though there was no electricity. She moved some of her bags down to our old place and went to work. Late that night, she frantically knocked on the door. She was semi-panicked and said the code to our old apartment had been changed. Jen and I went down to try it and sure enough, in the space of a few hours, someone had changed the code. It seemed as if our old nemesis, Herr Director, ... read more
