Today is Friday.. that means the weekend!!!!!!!!!! Of course, I had a very hard time getting out of  bed this morning. So last night I have my first "official" Korean dinner with my co workers and boss. One of the Korean teachers are getting married and we all said goodbye to her. The place we ate at was very nice! First, your shoes must be taken off (only in the nice, upscale places. The tables are only like 3 or 5 inches off the ground (If you eaten at a Japanese place in America) You know what I am talking about. Your chair is a pillow.. so we all picked what we wanted to eat and here is the interesting part... they brought the meat on a plate and you have to cook it yourself.. How ... read more

We don't get too many English channels out this way.. only CNN which is a total bore!! So, I was considering making the midnight run when I realized what I am doing this for.. I am helping the kids!! I can't recall devoting an entire day to reading a novel but I did today!!! I am over 8.000 miles from home here in FAR EAST ASIA... I often wonder how my family and friends are doing back home and how the weather and traffic.. but this day will pass as well! Tomorrow, it's my second week of work and I guess I am looking ... read more

TEACHING IS REALLY STRESSFUL AND ANNOYING SOMETIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today is my last official day of training then tomorrow I am officially thrown to the WOLVES... WHOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO! So, in the morning, I am teaching 4 and 5 years olds which is basically babysitting. There are 7 boys and only one girl and I teach them right after SNACK TIME, so imagine my classroom as a playground with kids running around. TA DA!!!!!!!!!!!! So I basically have to waste my energy getting them all to sit down. My afternoon classes are not that bad except.. the last two. Some of the kids do not know ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!! Gee, where did these kids come from and why did I get stuck with them? My bosses are pretty cool soo far.. nothing fishy about them yet.. It's just ... read more

I wanted to give you an update on South Korea. The city I am in called Kwangju is like a normal American city (it's not too much to do out here really) The people drive really bad here (blaring horns, running red lights etc).. and the little kids laugh, giggle and piont at you "yelling foreigner". I think it's amusing and I usually just say Hello and smile. It's been cold since I been here.. yesterday it was snowy and icy! Spring time is coming around the corner. My roommate I have is weird.. All he does is stay in his room on the computer.. what a weirdo.. All the foreign teachers think he is a closet gay. As far as food here, They got a Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Outback Steakhouse etc.. Shopping for food is not ... read more

Today is Saturday March 6th..    It's snowing like crazy!!! It takes me about 15 minutes to walk from my apartment to the PC BANG.. I am going to go to the Lotte Mart as soon as I finished this entry and buy some food. Lotte Mart is a modern day version of  "Wal-Mart" for the rich folks here. Okay, the school I teach at is called LCI Kids Club. Apparently, this school charges the most money out of all the schools in the area. Therefore, everything has to be top quality. The kids are not allowed to draw in their books and all the papers must be neat! So, the classes I know I will be teaching in the morning is Kindergarden kids. They do not know a lick of english and I am like ... read more

After a 16 hour journey, I finally made it to South Korea! I landed in Seoul around 5 pm  on Thurs, March 3rd. So after spending what seem like forever in customs, I went to look for my greeter...  umm some problems there.. First, I had people tugging at me asking What Branch of service I was in...while  explaining to them that I am not in the military. Finally, I went to the information desk and they called my greeter. Immediately after I met my greeter, we went straight to the domestic airport, Gimpo which is half an hour away! So I did not make it time to catch my scheduled flight.. so I end up on Korean Airlines and ended up paying 58000 wons which is roughly 50 usd..That was kinda sweet since we boarded the ... read more
