Hello everybody, we hope that you are all ok........here is our story about our latest movements............... Eight hours from the Gold Coast airport on a bargain $200 each flight with Air Asia X we arrived back in the hustle and bustle of KL! It was strange going back to somewhere where we have been before but nice that we knew where we were going and what we wanted to do. Kl hasn't changed one bit, Petaling Street which is china town, full to the brim with stalls selling cheap food, copied handbags, watches, cd's clothing and anything you can think of really oh how we have missed it. We were straight into shop unil you drop mode, as we have been saving to buy a new SLR camera since Australia and KL is the place to ... read more

I always get nervous crossing the border into another country. I even strain my neck looking inside the customs booth to see if my picture is on the wanted poster. Nope, all clear, now lets see if the dogs sniff out the seeds in my multi-grain bread. After getting through customs in Malaysia Laura and I spot a man with puffy black hair doing a jig and giving us the thumbs up. "Is that Borat?" I ask Laura. As we get closer we realize it's our van driver, he's so excited he shouts, "YOU MADE IT!" I look around nervously for a guard to ask to take a second look at our passports. So now as we walk up to customs to get into Singapore I'm completely relaxed, like it's my second year in High School. ... read more

Singapore in many ways set the tone for my travels. Hong Kong was my first stop but Singapore held a special place for me. I arrived in Singapore for the first time on March 21st. If you can recall my old roommate Chris from college was there to greet me in the terminal. We spent three great days together in Singapore, I started to really feel like I was traveling, we ate terrific food, met some great people, and had an unforgettable time. If was my springboard to the rest of my travels. Now, almost three months later, on June 12th, my Mom and I boarded a plane from Bali to Singapore. For my last 4 days in Asia I’ll be staying at the Robertson Quay Hotel in the heart of downtown Singapore. I have four ... read more

We decided to stop over in Singapore for the weekend on our way to Australia. We had heard lots of good reports about the country and felt it was worth a visit. Our first impressions in Singapore airport were just a taster of what the rest of Singapore was to be like: immaculately clean, modern and stylish! It was a welcome change from the environment we were used to over the previous ten weeks. We jumped in a taxi and straight away our taxi man started chatting away and acting like a tour guide. He advised us against going to the hostel we planned to stay in as it was too far away from the city (granted it was a random place we had found on the net) and started talking up Little India, seemed convenient ... read more

Today we ventured out of the hotel and did some sightseeing. We visited the Marina Waterfront and other sights around Singapore city centre. The sun was very hot and again humid so didn't go too far - lack of air kept leading us to inside the shops just to feel normality and be able to breathe properly. You find youself going inside stores just to be able to breathe and recover from all the sweat you endure from the heat outside. Weather was 32 degrees today, seems hot but there is a lot of cloud and you sweat more from the extreme humidity outside and the lack of breeze. After all the sightseeing we chilled by the hotel pool in the afternoon and did a workout in the gym (which is air conditioned thankfully) - we ... read more

We arrived safely in Singapore after a very long flight. We left N Zealand 6.00 a.m. Sunday morning, arrived at Brisbane Airport 7.05 a.m. and then caught our connecting flight at 13.30 p.m. arriving in Singapore at 7.00 p.m. - so with time distance, having to catch 2 flights and waiting around in Brisbane Airport it was a very exhausting day. We are staying at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Raffles Marina (5 star) and it is very grand with lots of facilities to indulge in. Singapore is a lovely city, very similar to Hong Kong with lots of skyscrappers, asian food and everywhere is pristine clean. In fact more cleaner than Hong Kong and we didn't think you could get cleaner, same laws apply i.e. no smoking/littering in public and they do not sell chewing gum ... read more
