Finally, I had been in Palawan - said to be the last frontier of the Philippines. Last Aug 10 -13, Me and Lorenz , my travel buddy headed to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. We were so lucky that on that day, Aug 10, the sun was already shining after a week’s typhoon. The adventure starts.. On the day we arrived , just outside at the airport, I saw the stand post of Puerto pension where my name was written. This is our sundo who will bring us to the hotel. Al, the driver accompanied us to the Van and we waited for few minutes for the other guest of the hotel. We were full in the van. Hmmm, I was thinking the hotel must be good that many of the tourists chose it. It took us 10 ... read more

Last week after three months of long wait, me and my best friend Gie, my high school and college barkada headed for Puerto Princesa, Palawan via Cebu Pacific Air. We planned our trip since March and now that it's time to enjoy, here we are Palawan. July is a rainy month and there's typhoon passing by at Tuesday, so i was kinda worried that our flight on Saturday 14th of July will be cancelled and our vacation be postposed due to increment weather. But, thank Heavens, comes Saturday and the weather is quite cloudy in Manila, no more typhoon. God heard our prayers. We took the morning flight to Palawan, arriving there at 9:50am. A little rain shower welcomes us at the airport. After claiming our luggages we took a tricycle to Puerto Pension Inn, ... read more

I have been to Palawan several times and work makes me do so. I have the opportunity to travel around the country because as an IT person I have to do visits to our field offices. However, I do work before pleasure and so sometimes I hardly have time to go around the places I have been but this time because of this travel blog i am finding pleasure in making and finding time to take pictures and share experiences with others. So after a one and half days work, i decided to go city touring in Palawan. Our first stop was the Crocodile Farm. I have been here before and was able to hold a baby crocodile (it was for free then) now you have to pay a fee (shucks..). Well, these fees will ... read more

We got to Cebu and it rained. And rained. We’ve been lucky with the weather so far but the rainy season is making its grand entrance. In the taxi to our accommodation -picked by the close your eyes and point a finger at the page method (it turned out to be a bit scummy but you get what you pay for..) a road had flooded and the local kids, in partial and total undress were running and splashing alongside the jeepneys and taxis, clearly having the time of their lives. Cebu City was fairly disappointing on the whole, not that we had any great expectations. It was grubby, stinking hot and just another big city. We enjoyed navigating around by jeepney, it was fairly easy although we spent the majority of our time sheltering inside ... read more

"If I only knew about this place sooner" How often do we come across something new or interesting to us and quickly say, I didn't know that, or, what I could have done if I knew about this sooner. Well, such was the case about 15 years ago, during my investment years, as I like to call it. I use to wait eagerly, for the monthly, business magazine to arrive in my post office box. Once I got home, I would sit down and read it from cover to cover. My thirst for knowledge, not just any knowledge, provided me with the desire to learn something new. In this case I was hoping to learn something new from the writers of the different business articles in the magazines. Such was the case when I read an ... read more

Not a Matt blog this time - rather a blog from Matt’s parents who are visiting a South East Asia country for the first time to see where Matt is living and to take a holiday with him in some parts of the Philippines he has not yet seen. Bit of a travelogue really, so bear with us and hear about our trip, warts and all. Matt met us when we landed in Cebu and as usual a bit of local knowledge goes a long way - instead of taking an ‘expensive’ airport taxi from the rank at the exit, we walked out of Arrivals and found a regular metered taxi to get our ride to the hotel. My impression next morning looking out onto the dilapidation, undisciplined traffic, dust, noise, dogs, goats mixing it with ... read more

Just thought that I could share this itinerary for Palawan. Enjoy your trip! PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN Always touted as the last frontier of the Philippines, the island province of Palawan holds true to that reputation. This area is considered as one of the few dream destinations for many seasoned and would-be travelers. With more than a thousand islands, islets, cays and shoals and matched by impressive limestone cliffs, excellent coral reefs, cultures and other interesting natural treasures, I recommend that you allot at least three to four days of your entire lifetime to visit the attractions in Palawan. For a great taste of the destination, you can try this already-proven itinerary. DAY 1 6:00 A.M. ETD Manila 7:00 A.M.
