this is either the update you have all been waiting for, not the update you have been waiting for, or an update you have not at all been waiting for. foremost, as blogger, i ask your apology for my lack of punctuation and grammar. trust me, i usually use it consistently, but today i'm lazy. losing a 35 minute email in a split second doesn't help things any either. i'll make this short and summarize a bit. the conference in thailand was good. i was challenged and met a few international people to call my friends, from parts of philippines and one guy from north-east india. a highlight was attending a Hindu-style fellowship, which was more than interesting. i had the red dot on my forehead too. ask about it some day. back in palawan, we ... read more

And now, we're down to our last two places in Coron. We visited CYC beach first. I believe this stands for Coron Youth Club. It is the only public beach (and free!) in the vicinity. It was a good place to stay into. There were lots of people here, and like the skeleton wreck, we didn't really go to the beach. Instead, we snorkeled and snorkeled. After some time, we were to our last destination - Siete Pecados. They said it was one of the greatest snorkeling spots. And yes, the place was really great! Just the day before, our tour guide told us of the myth of the place. Siete Pecados is named such because it is believed that there were 7 kids left behind in the island. Wanting to escape from the island, they ... read more

As expected, my companions all woke up a little late. Everyone was tired from yesterday's activities. Everyone can still feel the pain from climbing the mountain. We all planned to make this day as a relaxing one, not like yesterday where we visited as much as we can. This day, we were to enjoy the view more, stay at the different places longer and just have fun. i woke early though, just in time for sunrise. Well not really. Our hotel was positioned at the other side, it was a great place to see the sunset, but not the sunrise. However, I saw a great view of the moon. I call it the moonset. It seemed like the sunset because it was full moon. Everyone woke up just about the time when I and one ... read more

We were lucky. We were the first group who arrived in the vicinity (leaving the town so early). The island is home to the Tagbanua tribe who have lived in the island for centuries. They would charge you a nominal fee to enter and they presumably use the money to improve and protect its natural beauty. Going to the lake is challenging. Disembarking from your boat, you would need to climb more up more than a hundred steps, then go down a hundred more to reach the lake. Upon reaching the top, you would be greeted with a fascinating view of the area, from where you came from, a picturesque view of islands, probably the most photographed view in the whole of Palawan and to where you are headed, a beautiful lake awaits. Our next destination was Banol beach. After a tiring swim from Kayangan lake, we decided to go to one of the beaches. And Banol beach was beautiful. We were greeted by a short stretch of White Beach, just enough for us to stroll and hang around for the next few minutes. It was perfect! Approaching the island, we saw limestone rock formations that serve as the backdrop of the beach. And on the island itself, we saw two different kinds of kubo cottages or straw huts. One was a long stretch that was perfect for lunch setting, and another was a set of small huts good enough to protect one from the sun. We also decided that we already eat the lunch for the day - freshly grilled squid, liempo (grilled meat) and for dessert, some ... read more

We had different choices on what to do next, when to do the different activities and how we execute them. One of the options was to go up Mt. Tapyas and see sunset from there (I love sunsets!). After that we will go to Maquinit hot springs to relax our must-have-been tired bodies from the climb. Other options included shopping, taking a rest or just bum around. I secretly had the intention of going to each and every place possible. When this idea opened up, I set up a plan on how to make everyone agree. I mentioned that if we do this in the morning instead, we might be too tired to do other things, or that if we do it late morning and we were late, it would be too hot to climb and ... read more

After taking some rest, it was time to enjoy what Palawan is all about - its natural wonders. They say that in this country, if you want to experience night life on the Beach - go to Boracay. However, if you want to truly see the beauty of nature - go to Palawan. And that was what this trip was about. We wanted to see the beauty of nature. Taking time off from work, we visited Coron, in the province of Palawan. Our next destination in our island hopping was Skeleton Wreck. The wreck is very close to an island and some reefs. I believe this was a fishing boat. I believe Coron is also known for its wreck and scuba diving. However, this wreck can be seen even while snorkeling. It is a little scary ... read more

January 26, 2008 http://diycoron.wordpress.com This is my first time to organize a group tour. It just started with Jennilyn’s request that I accompany them to Coron, since I am I frequent visitor there. The initial joiner were Jennilyn and Sining’s group. Then after some few days, Lallie’s group was added. Then Shean’s group was added, then the solo travellers Charo, Gilbert, & Marife. I noticed that our common denominator is that we love to travel, and the fact that this is a cheap travel is a bonus already. We were 14pax, originally set at 16pax, 2 males backed-out. Since I haven’t been to Gutob Bay Island, this was the chance I was waiting for to visit this area. I could not visit it if I am solo, or we are just a group of 3pax. So ... read more

Palawan is a sparsely inhabited island in the SW Philippines. It's waters and much of the island are protected so it's home to some unique wildlife. This is why we came. We flew into the capital, Peurto Princesa, and after getting some local advice we boarded a bus north to a town called Roxas (pronounced Rohas). The road was paved and the journey was surprisingly pleasant except for the fish soup pouring down on top of us from the roof cargo when the bus took a sharp bend. Upon arrival at Roxas we got on a boat for an island called Reef island (aka Coco Loco Island) to rest and refresh for a few days. Coco-Loco was a small resort on this 17 acre island, 45mins from the mainland, that took 10mins to circumnavigate on foot. ... read more
