Dear Bob, Guess who? That’s it you've guessed it... its me...Bob. And guess what again?? No Bob I'm not getting a dolphin-plasti... I'm in Malaysia. Yeah I can't believe it either but I'm here. Honest. No joke of a lie. Anyway Bob I thought I would write you a little letter to tell you about some of the stuff I’ve been doing... I arrived in Malaysia in a little bus often referred to as a "mini-bus" from that place called Tie Land. My first port of call was a place called Penang. Pulau Penang is the oldest British Straits Settlements in Malaysia and has many colonial buildings and stuff. Know what I mean like?? It’s an island off the west coast of Malaysia not too far from the Thai border. The capital is Georgetown and that’s ... read more

Well after another long and boring bus ride we arrived in Kuala Lumpur at a bus station at 5am only to find everyone asleep on the seats so we found the cleanest spot on the floor and waited it out for the ticket counter to poen in 2 hours, apparently there was no sleeping after 6am in the station so some "rookie" security guard went around clapping and making noise's in people's ear to wake them up what a great job there is nothing better than scaring the sh%t out f people when they are so unsuspecting (tonka can attest to this after being a victim of mine many times) Anyhow turns out Hindas cousin was coming to KL for the weekend so we postpond the last leg of the bus trip and met up with ... read more

O.K Trip has begun. I was so happy to land after my Sep 11th flight. Safe I thought! Had no sleep and I was walking through arrivals where someone jumped on my back! Turned around and there was the wrong un. Only Mr Danial Pollard himself along with his Ting Tong. I knew it was goiung to get messy from this point in. Jumped in a cab and straighyt to Pat Pong. Anyone that knows him knows that he is morally wrong. Just stepped off a plane and now I'm fighting my way through ladyboys in a busy Bangkok bar. It could only happen to me. I wasn't too impressed with the ping pong show by the old hags but opening beer bottles with your fanny is one hell of an achievement in my book! So ... read more

After a few days of cilling at Palau Tiomen we've headed north to Cherating, partly to break up the journey and secondly as me and Dave have heard that Cherating was worth a visit. Its certainly not what we expected or hoped for! Its basically a very small village with a few travellers, here mainly couples and germans and a few expats who seem to live here in the chalets full time. Its ok but quiet, a bit too quiet for me. We were orginally going to stop in a hostel called the Shadow of the moon at at half-past four. Tip to anyone who reads this: Don't!!! We arrived thinking it looked a bit spooky to be met by a Drunk bloke that looked like Billy Connelly and sounded like ozzy osborne and a bloke ... read more

Yo People! I am in Penang at the moment. We have just come from Ipoh where i visited the center were i did my gap year placement. I was completely disorientated when we arrived at Ipoh because they have built a new bus station miles out from the center of town and taxis over charge to get you into town. Someone is pumping a lot of money into development in Ipoh. Here are lots of new buildings and a massive theme park is opening soon. However i found that i actually still remember my way around the town fine and lots of things are the same. We got the bus to the center ans i managed to get off at the right place. The bus driver was confused as he couldn't see why a tourist would ... read more

Lessons Learned We took the local bus from central Melaka to the terminal on the outskirts at about 11am maybe. Melak was bigger than Johor Bahru, and a lot less crazy. Once we'd arrived at the terminal and figured out where the ticket offices were, we realised that almost all of the Ipoh buses left at either (a) 9am or (b) 9pm. The one exception was a RM28 bus that left at 2pm. After some deliberation, we decided to carry on to Ipoh as planned. We thought we were being ripped off at first, but realised that it was a fixed price. Lesson learned: book coach tickets in advance. Also, it turned out that the 2pm coach was the slow coach, stopping about 4 times at other destinations before it reached Ipoh. We would have been ... read more

After our exploration of Borneo's underwater offerings, time to see what lies above the surface ! As if Sabah didn't sound exotic and mysterious enough, our next destination is Sarawak, which to my mind conjures up vivid images of tribal villages deep in the jungle, accessible only by longboats along steamy, brown rivers. How close to this is reality going to be ? We leave the marine delights of Sipadan behind, flying from Tawau to the Sarawakian city of Miri, with a short stop-over in Sabah's capital city, Kota Kinabalu (we decided not to climb Mount Kinabalu - too easy you know ?). Miri, a self-styled "resort city" (don't make me laugh) is apparently a small place with big ideas - it's been flooded with money from the lucrative industries of logging and palm oil production. ... read more

After the longest journey so far and a journey I swear I will not do again (Sleeper carriages nextime anyone?) Me and Dave finally got to Pulau Tiomen. We managed to get the first speedboat over from Mersing where, when we were thrown off the bus, I managed to watch Reading V Man city, Live at 5 in the morning!! Mersing was also unfortunately where we bid Henson farewell as he had to head back for Singapore to fly home. By the time you read this mate, You'll be at Uni!! Go forth and tell the world of your travels! Its a shame you have to leave us, the KFC stock market value in the far east must have shot up by about 400% while you've been here!!
