Ganske enkelt fantastisk.

Going East with SUNDOWNER Finally we make it!!!! For me this is the First time cruising with our SUNDOWNER. A 48ft motorsailer-catamaran . But Reinhold already did many cruises with his previous boat. We started the cruise on the 16th of March 2011. This time we go East. FLORES. We always dream to go to Flores. We planned to go around Flores with our motorbike but never make it. Until we have this boat where the fun begun. Labuhan Poh, South Lombok We left Serangan Bay around 6am. We went slowly due to fuel saving consumption. We reached Labuhan Poh afternoon. We come to this place quite often with charter guest. Drop the anchor and stayed over night. Good anchorage. It’s mud, perfect for our anchor type. Gili Air, Lombok The next morning at 8 am ... read more

When arrive in Indonesia a little tired of fighting for the poor service we decided to pay more for better things and no more, but we were wrong. Finally we took a tour from the island of Lombock to the island of Flores stopping on the way in Komodo to see the famous dragons. PERAMA, the company offering the tours was supposedly the most secure and reliable, at least their ads say so, but turned out to be the worst of all with inflated prices and no insurance, we finally feel cheated. We left on March 26, 2011, 17 passengers, a family with a baby of 10 months and others. After a few stops on the island of Lombock, we headed to the first island to snorkel, and from there straight over night to another ... read more

Started the day with a walk to the closest ATM, at 7am it is already hot and we both perspire all the way there and back again then it was a traditional Mie Goreng for breakfast in the hotel dining area. It is nice to relax and do nothing this morning but enjoy the outdoor shower and watch an old movie. At 12pm we were delivered to the airport domestic terminal where we gorged ourselves on Dunkin Donuts before checking in for our Wings Air flight at 1pm. It was a smallish prop plane and it was quite full, lucky we werent hungry or thirsty because there was nothing available on this flight. At 3pm we descended into Labuanbajo and I swear it was the most scary landing I have ever endured, we slid all over ... read more

Travelling by yourself can definitely be fun but there is something great about having someone to laugh at all the craziness with. And as it was Andy was a great travelling buddy, he flew out from London and spent 3 weeks getting me around Indonesia without being run over or traded for bracelets. Plus it was great to be able to get through a day without being proposed to! (after a while it stops being flattering) Our original plans of volcano climbing through Java had to be abandoned (apparently it was getting a little too toasty up there) so we met in Bali; and then immediately flew to Lombok where we chilled out in Seggigi for two days. Sorry, did I say chilled? I meant to say sweated - how we didn’t shrivel up like prunes ... read more

Salamat datang! Welcome back to Bali. I am now staying in Sanur, on the SE coast this time. A much more laid back atmosphere than the chaos of Kuta Beach. Mostly an older, middle aged crowd (wait a minute-I am middle aged as well!), and a much more sedate atmosphere. I also decided to splash out on more upscale accommodation at the Alit Beach Resort, right on Sanur Beach. I get functioning air conditioning, a queen sized bed with mosquito net, television with english channels, swimming pools, resort living and daily breakfast. And all this luxury is costing me about $33/night. There's time for tightening the budget later. My journey to Komodo Island began on Sunday, December 5th, on the Peramatour Boat #212, with 12 other adventure seekers. I booked deck class, which meant I would ... read more

The boat trip was made up of two mini buses full of tourists, just under 30 people and for some unknown reason we were asked to change bus 3 times, at the 4th attempt we refused and luckily stayed on the boat with less people and made great new friends. We drove from the west to the east coast of Lombok with a live chicken on board (which later became dinner on the boat!), a 3 hour trip with a huge rain shower which leaked through the bus ceiling. Upon arriving at the port, Princess Carla suffered from what we shall term as ‘Dock Shock’. The boat which would be our home for the next four days was not the large private cabin type we dreamed of, but small (about 50ft long, sounds long, but wasn‘t), ... read more

We had a good start to our time on the island of Flores as we won a contest on the one-hour flight over and got a free nights stay in a nice fancy hotel. I have a feeling it wasn't totally random. They probably looked to see who was a foreigner by the booking name and who was staying a long time based on air tickets. Unfortunately, it was about 3km outside of the town of Labuanbajo so it wasn't the most convenient of places. We checked into ma simple bamboo hut at gardenia hoitel instead, but took a "bemo" taxi to go check it out. It was pretty fancy, with a gorgeous pool overlooking the ocean and a nice room with air conditioning and hot water. The hotel restaurant, the only option for eating nearby, ... read more

We'd been recommended the Gili/Lombok to Flores boat trip and despite it being a bit pricey (IR 1,500,00 or 100 quid each) we booked it as it sounded like an interesting adventure. Boat Trip - Day 1 We got the morning shuttle boat from Gili Air to Bang Sai harbour on Lombok, then a minibus to beach resort Sengiggi, where we paid in full at the boat tour office and stocked up on essential supplies for the journey (beer, wet wipes and biscuits!!). We got chatting to a British guy who had just come back from the trip who said he was complaining because the boat was awful, the food was horrible, the crew very pervy over the girls and people's things were stolen off the boat. GREAT we thought, just what we want to hear ... read more
