That I managed to make it to Sawai Madhopur in the first place seemed to me like somewhat of an accomplishment. The signs at the Jaipur and Tonk bus stations had been exclusively in Hindi. Yet somehow, by asking people randomly for help, I happened upon the ticket collectors for my desired buses, who in each case escorted me to the proper vehicle. Sawai Madhopur struck me as a dirty, overgrown village. The real reason I had come was to see some animals at Ranthambhore National Park. Of course, there were plenty of animals of the pig, dog, goat, and cow varieties to be seen wandering the streets of town. But specifically, I was interested in tigers. 6AM Wake up Early morning safari No tiger sightings Woke up early this morning to partake in a safari through Ranthambhore National Park in hopes of spotting a tiger. But upon seeing our mode of transportation I was very doubtful we'd be seeing anything...a hugeass open top bus that I'm guessing accommodates about 20+ people. We did however see lots of black faced monkeys and deer! There was one other jeep that was out at the same time we were out there that was lucky to have the chance to spot the tiger. Hmm, either there is a real tiger out there or they paid these three off. Haha Oh well, I guess it wasn't meant to be for me to see a tiger in India. Another train ride. Tigers in National Park? Wait and see I guess. After another train ride in the morning we arrived at the Ranthambhore National Park...home to lots of deer and black faced monkey's. We arrived too late in the afternoon to be able to go on a safari ride so a bunch of us went to check out the old fort...apparently Rajasthan's second largest and it is over 1000 years old. There were some nice views up there but no tiger sightings. After being disappointed by not seeing any tigers we made a short pit stop at a store where the local crafts women have their stuff on sale.
