Hi everyone! Well I'm proud to say that we, not only survived a ten hour train ride to get to Goa, but we've finally made it to a new state in India. We specifically came to this part of Goa to meet my aunt and uncle from Toronto, who are traveling in India as well. Tomorrow, we are suposed to meet them for a boat ride to see the wild dolphins. Yes, like always, there is a beach where we are staying in Goa. And yes it is quite fantastic! We're going to rent a motorcycle either today or tomorrow, and like always, swim for the rest of the day. I hope you all are having a great time, but sorry, in the next six months you'll never have a greater time than I am! I'd ... read more

Jamil. Hi everybody its me. A few days back we were at a place called Costa Malabari. It has a beach there that is pretty nice. We played some cricket here, if any one knows that sport, but I don't have any pictures of that. I'll try and send you some pictures later. There are some crazy steps there that I have a picture of. We have a fun game. It's called crab hunting and here's how you play. Take some sand and throw it at a crab. When the crab is buried with sand, you can pick it up. The crabs are small and the colour of sand so they are easy to pick up. Pretty simple. One day some kids came and we played some soccer on the beach. We won 8 to 5. ... read more

Samir's article. We're in Goa now, which is a completely new state. We're at a hotel which isn't too far from the beach. The beach crowdedness is some where in between Varkala and Kannur, but the other beach is really crowded, so we stuck with the closer beach. The waves here are semi big so we rented two boogie boards. That was something new, which is good because I am literally sick of the beach. Tomorrow we're renting a motorcycle and an electric scooter, but since my dad is the only one who knows how to drive anything like that, we kids have to stay in the hotel while he teaches my mom how to drive the scooter. We're supposed to meet two relatives who are in India for a week, and are staying at five ... read more

Goa.... for us, a little piece of paradise and a welcome relief from the intensity of the rest of the trip! What a difference a few hundred kilometers can make. After an early flight via Mumbai we arrived in Goa late afternoon. The evening before, we had rung ahead for accommodation. Some bamboo huts right on a beach called Patnem (south of Palolem). Palolem itself is now a famous over run beach where lots of tourists and backpackers head. There are cocohuts lining the whole length of the beach, as well as bars, restaurants and plently of burnt tourists. Too much for us! We chose Patnem, a quiet beach with a few choices of huts dotted along the beach and a few quiet restaurants. We were chuffed with our choice. The sand is a golden yellow; ... read more

Apologies for the slight delay in writing about our time in Goa. In fact, I have to admit that I'm not even in Goa anymore, having arrived in Bombay very early this morning on an overnight train. After all the bad stories I heard from other travellers, I was expecting a city resembling hell as described in Dante's Inferno. So far I like Bombay though! However, I'll write later about our adventures and possible mishaps here. For now, I'll let my mind wonder back to the churches of Old Goa and the beaches at Palolem and Patnem.... sigh Phil and I arrived in Panaji, Goa, on Wednesday after taking an overnight train from Kochi to Margao, followed by a ride in the slowest rickshaw in India from Margao to Panaji. After settling into our hotel, we ... read more
