Yeah well ain't life just grand? I'm still here doing nothing. Yesterday was such a lazy day I can't even tell you. I fell asleep in my bed with all the lights on while reading.. oops I guess I WAS really tired. Woke up at 1am a little confused and being bit by some enormous black ant. So I feel much better today. Was up and just lying in bed at 8am trying to figure out what I was going to do today... conclusion.. not much more than yesterday LOL. Well actually I got a mototaxi to town so I ould take out some money from the ATM, but of course, it didn't work and there are no other ATMs around. Crap! I guess I'll have to use my last traveler's cheque. Oh well. I bought ... read more

So Carolyn left today at around 1pm. It was sad to see her leave and I'm sure she was sad to leave too. It kinda sucks to wake up in the morning after your last night out on the beach we people you met, take your last swim, and enjoying the stressfree life and have to leave it behind to go back to work... Phew.. that was a long sentence. WEll I hope she enjoyed her trip as much as I'm enjoying mine. I'm now on my own from now on and really looking forward to this new adventure ahead of me. Right now it's still the same, doign nothing on the beach and still enjoying it. There's another guy staying at the same "huts" as me, Bart.. another fellow Canuck, so we're pretty much just ... read more

Still on Palolem beach and quite happy about it. Carolyn is leaving in 2 days and I'll still be sticking arounf here for another week or so after her. Liek my last update said, there's not much going on here to keep you updated on. Put here's what we've done so far... 1. Slept in 2. hit the beach for some tanning 3. swam 4. eaten (lots!) 5. drank lots of beer (especially yesterday... 9 am - 7pm... ouch!) That's pretty much it. We met a nice Australian guy and a French girl and decided to have some drinks with them yesterday... which started too early adn ended too late. Slept well last night that's for sure.. LOL So yeah, that's pretty much it.. wish I had more to say, but really I don't. Other than ... read more

Well, this is it. The adventure is ending and it feels as though it had only just begun. I have many memories to share and treasure for the rest of my life. I have been really grateful to have had the opportunity to visit the countries I did and meet some amazing people along the way. It has been an interesting two months with some ups and downs but certainly a worthwhile experience which I highly recommend to everyone. I end my travels in Palolem a beach in the sounthern state of Goa. It has been amazing weather and I have really taken the time to do absolutely nothing. For those of you who know me well, this is not like me. I have not even done any exercise (GASP!). I know, hard to believe. The ... read more

Finally left Mumbai maybe 3-4 days ago (remember? I have no concept of time..). Took another overnight bus.. which I still have one more to take to get back to Mumbai... Argh! Anyway, this one was just nasty. My bed smelled of urine, someone had previously had a little accident on it before I guess. It was so strong that I just couldn't handle it anymore and found another empty bunk below us, so I slept there... with the cockroaches crawling over me all night... I can deal with that, but not the smell and the fact of lying in it.. no way~! Anywa it only took 14hrs not the 16 they had told us.. WOW! What a surprise! Anyway we head to Baga beach first which to tell you the truth it's just insanity! It's ... read more

Stephanie and I took an overnight bus from Mumbai to Mapusa, Goa on the 31st of March. This was by far the stinkiest ride we have taken. (If you have not noticed, each bus ride has been an adventure and there is a story to tell). So, the stink story goes like this..... somebody urinated on the mattress in the sleeper. And, yes, that ended up being our sleeper. Let me tell you, it was not pleasant. It was least pleasant for Stephanie though since she got stuck laying in the urine. It was so hot on that bus too that sweat was dripping from my forehead, nose and ears (yes ears.. probably because of the thick hair). This only made the urine smell worse since the moist heat on the urine brought out the smell. ... read more

So after a month away....finally made it to a beach!!! Oh yes! Got in touch with the lads from Udaipur and met up with them on Palolem beach. All the fretting over not making Ajanta faded the moment I saw the sand and sea! Organised tickets that day and then spent the rest of the afternoon soaking up the sun and playing cricket on the beach! It's a hard life! Cricket was a good laugh...shame we lost. Glad went in more expensive seats as the crowd got a bit rowdy where some other mates were and started chucking bottles of water and food at them. Police did jack about it too, apparently found it quite funny! Having not had a proper drink in the last month, found the cheap vodka very quickly...and got pissed just sniffing ... read more

Ahoy ahoy once again. Sorry about the lack of updates recently, it's just Sandi and I have settled into our own cozy nook of a place. As you can see I'm no longer in Benaulim, I am in Palolem! Another pretty sweet beach. This one is alot more populated with tourists, so Sandi and I don't get as many bad looks as we have been. There's alot more activities to do here than in Benaulim. Every once in a while Sandi and I take up a nice soothing (and physically exausting) canoe ride on the Arabian Sea. The people who rent out the canoe charge too much (roughly $10 per hour) so we've laid off of renting it for a bit. Currently we're in the bartering stages for it, we're trying to get it for 5 ... read more

Well what can I say as we head towards another stunning beach - it's a hard life but someone has to do it and it might as well be us... A couple of hours later in a taxi we arrive at Palolem Beach in south Goa. The beach itself is set in a bay with a rocky headland at either end and in between are countless palm trees and beautiful soft sand - oh and of course a thousand or so beach huts and bars. The huts vary in price from about 200 rupees a day to over a thousand, we opted for a hut with a bathroom for 800 which turned out to be a very wise investment... The atmosphere in Palolem was quite a bit different from Anjuna and a lot livelier although it ... read more

blog by Dave & Bronia From Chandigarh our next destination was Goa and it's famous beaches. To get to Goa we booked a cheap internal flight with www.SpiceJet.com from Delhi direct to avoid the otherwise 36+hr train ride which we didn't much fancy. We spent one last night in Delhi in another awfully noisy and grubby hotel with a small temple outside our bedroom window that began morning prayers at 5am with loud chants and the continous clanging of a very large metal bell and chimes. No need for the travel alarm that morning. We were very excited about going south in India, especially after many favourable reports from travellers we'd been meeting along the way who all spoke of a more chilled atmosphere to the north. Goa is a province of India with a coast ... read more
