Hi everyone, and welcome to our blog. Hope we don't bore you too much, we promised to keep you up to date on what's going on in our lives and hopefully you'll all keep in touch with us - it's nice to hear from you all even if it's only a quick 2 line e-mail. Well as you've guessed we arrived intact and with all of our baggage, a miracle in itself going on BA's past history with our luggage. We had to check hand luggage on because it was too big and then ran all the way from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 but made it just in time. The flight was good, in fact we slept for most of it (must have been the voddy and whisky)!!. Anyway, I knew we were back in ... read more

Just testing this new site, been in Goa since Oct last year running our Bar in Calangute (this is the 4th year since first opening), the bar is called Karma Shooters but everyone knows it as just 'shooters' we are coming to the end of the season now and are starting to wind down by taking some time off and relaxing on the beaches up and down Goa. The season will end for us on the 30th April when the last charter plane flies out, monsoon brings lots of rain, domestic tourists and travellers to Goa from all corners of the globe. There are some pictures of Palolem beach in the south which we think is the best in the whole state, it is away from the hustle and bustle of Calangute in the north and ... read more

Goa is not India. That's what one street seller said to us after trying to tout us something we didn't want or need, once we'd explained to him that we'd already spent 10 days travelling around Nth India and that we weren't fresh off a charter flight. And never a truer word. Goa is so far removed from everything else that we have seen up to now, it could actually be a different world. The only thing that remains constant is the heat and the humidity but even that is bearable when you've got an air-conditioned room with clean sheets and a beautiful pool to dive into when the heat starts to get too much. We've treated ourselves to an upmarket hotel (hence the clean sheets). It's got the most comfortable sun loungers I've ever lay ... read more

We had intended to stay at Colva,a long and quiet beach, but because of Indians Public Holiday we couldn't find a room to sleep. We tried our chance at Calangati which is 2 hrs. by bus. We used two public buses and a rickshaw. We could hardly find a room after about two hrs. walk by our backpacks. The hotel room we rented is good enough and very near the sea and we paid 500 inR per night. Calangati is over crawded. During our journey we have observed that everybody takes his shoes off while entering houses, hotel room and shops. But that doesn't mean the areas are clean. The sellers disturb you most of the time to sell something but still their smiling faces worth. We have night train ticket to Mumbai on 31st Jan. The next ... read more

After a superb journey we arrived in Goa feeling tired and confused. In the space of 45 minutes we had moved from the joys and technology of the 21st centuary with its 747's and 320 Airbuses to the mad confusion of rural Goa. Our 45 min taxi journey was hell raising and our first impressions of Goa was 'what a dump'-all our preconceived ideas of beautiful Goa died a death in that first 45 minutes. Yes there are lots of palm trees and blue sea but there are also lots of rubbish and broken down houses and the roads are appalling. Our accomadation is basic as we thought, but its clean and we have air conditioning and a hot shower. First time out we met an elephant and dozens of cows walking around aimlessly. Everthing is ... read more

The #1 hotspot for New Years Eve in India is definitely Goa. Everyone and EVERYONE from taxi drivers to Baliwood stars is there. Amazingly, a whole group of our San Francisco friends joined us to celebrate New Years together! Our first meeting was on an overnight train from Southern India. You can imagine how strange and wonderful it was to see such familiar faces so far away from home in an Indian train compartment. From the train we proceeded to bask on the beaches all day and bounce around the clubs all night. It was all great excetp for the 80% of the time that we spent stuck in terrible traffic and fighting enormous crowds. Let's just say New Years in Goa has become too popular for its own good.

Salut a tous...

So Air Deccan actually is a legitimate airline company (I wasn't so sure about it until I got to the booking counter at the airport) and isn't a website looking to swindle me out of my money despite the fact that no local Indian has heard of this airline. For those of you interested, Air Deccan is supposed to be a low-cost alternative to the major airlines with tickets 1/5 of the competition's pricing. I took Air Deccan from Bombay to Goa. The flight from KL to Mumbai/Bombay was alright but the flight got in late and so I paid a ridiculous amount of money to ensure a room near the airport. I met a lady on the flight who offered to have her driver drop me off at a bus station near Calangute so I ... read more

Coucou. Ma ... read more
