Shanghai, Verdens største by og vår lekeplass for helgen. Typ 13-14 kroner) ... read more

Heeei!

well day started late, over slept basically, and had to rush for work apointments. however, it's been a good day over all. whole day with fellow travellers and other people around, then late lunch/early dinner at a local Indian restaurant with good quality food - overall 8 on 10. thereafter again on Nanjing Loo (road, dont get ideas).. with pimps and fake brand products sellers around.. but visited good shopping arcades and other showrooms.. a Mandarin Iced Green Tea late in the evening at Costa @ The Bund was relaxing.. then back to hotel and relaxed in the room.. overall, a tiring but satisfactory day.. wanted to try Shanghai subway today but fellows suggested not to as we're new to the place.. I'm not going to listen to others tomorrow definitely.. ..more to come... keep ... read more

I arrived in Shanghai this morning for work purpose, and was supposed to go to a hotel my old friend had suggested. However, as I arrived here people at the airport's travel desk (as I understood it to be) suggested the hotel I had booking with was not so good. I tried for another place at the airport itself but difference in prices at different counters was a little too much (around 100 RMB).. so it was me and my brother, he also discussed with someone and in the end we just picked our bags, hired a cab and started to hit the downtown.. 'All this at around 12 noon, when we had an exhibition to attend that would shut by 1700 hours'.. Anyhow, we reached "somewhere" in the downtown of Shanghai - the taxi driver ... read more

Sunday 13th February We arrived into Shanghai under the darkness of night and our tour guide holding our name board up tonight is Diana. As usual her English is very good and we are ushered to our waiting cab and driven off towards the city. Its about 40 minutes drive into Shanghai and already we can sense the enormity of the place as towering buildings shadow the roads and the distant glow of the city gets closer. Shanghai s the most populous city in China, located in eastern China and sits at the mouth of the Yangtze River. The population is a staggering near 20 million! Due to its rapid growth in the last two decades, Shanghai has again become one of the world's leading cities, exerting influence over finance, commerce, fashion, and culture. Shanghai is ... read more

So I got to go to Shanghai, China for work. China is one of those places, like India and Africa, that can just seem daunting to try to arrange the details, get a visa, figure out where in the vastness to go, navigate in not only a foreign language but a different alphabet. And so I feel lucky to have had so many opportunities like this one as a result of my job. Now all that being said, it seems I will have to go back to China again to see more of the country. Sometimes with all the work opportunities come early mornings, late nights, preparatory work, and struggles to keep on top of other job responsibilities marching forward without you back home, it can be difficult to get good tourist time. So here’s my ... read more

NOTE: Hello lovlies, this is way overdue. The first 20 or so photos are all from a feature film that I was in, tentatively titled "Shanghai Chill." It took up a large part of my first 2 months in Shanghai as I was the lead actor. It might suck, it might be alright, all in all a great experience. The other photos were taken from March till June and show, among other things, life in a poorer neighborhood of Shanghai where I was living at first, Suzhou, a city with lots of waterways, a Chinese Venice of sorts, a trip to Nanjing, and a trip to the sea. Just little tid bits, I was too lazy for too many comments. This is what happens when you let things pile up I suppose....the story of my life. ... read more

Travelling from Xiamen to Shanghai felt longer than any of our previous trips. This was probably because we slept soon after boarding and then were awake for the length of the next day until we arrived at 11.30pm. You could really get used to travelling in soft sleeper class in this country. The key difference for me is the ability to shut the door for some peace and quiet, and block out the stream of men passing the door hacking up phlegm en route to the sinks. For the first 12hours or so we were joined in our cabin by a Chinese couple, whose only faux pas was to eat smelly fish snacks until well into the night. The next morning we were jolted awake at 7am by the loud radio that was streamed into every ... read more
