...and now it's gone, but I'm going to tell you about it anyway. We'll start with Christmas Eve. Well I was in bed at about 11 when Kyle sent a message asking if I had seen the snow outside and if I was going to eat lunch. I wrote him back and said I hadn't looked outside, and I asked what time he was going to go. He said it was just a dusting, and he'd probably go around 11:30. I said okay. In between the time I sent the message asking what time and his reply I told myself to just get out of bed. So I got up and got ready. I put on lots of layers. We ended up at the lady's place after searching for milk tea for Kyle. There wasn't any ... read more

Christmas Tree

I think it's really sweet when families send out Christmas cards with pictures of the family on them.. the ones I've gotten are really special to me. So we took "family photos" for Christmas here in Danjiang.. it was fun. We all got dressed up Thursday and took group pictures. We went to a few different places on campus and used Kyle's camera/tripod. He couldn't figure out how to set the timer for any longer than 2 seconds, so it was pretty awesome watching him try and get to his spot that quickly. Anyway, here's what we got.. and some bloopers. :) ... read more

I woke up at 9:30 am, and I decided I would go to town because I wanted to cook something I found a recipe for online. I got ready and grabbed a bus at the gate. It took a really long time to get to town because the driver was going super slow, and the lady who takes your money as you get on the bus decided she needed to stop and get more money put on her phone. Finally I made it to Jing Hua. I picked up some mushrooms, bread and onions for my dish, and I got a can of mushrooms for P. I also bought some smoovlattes and a Dove bar. I headed home. I got home and gave Kyle what he needed for his pumpkin pies - a can of condensed ... read more

I got up at 7 this morning and took HP out and then went to class assuming I would have class. I got the key for the t.v. because I was going to show a movie. I went in the room, and there were a few people in there. I started to try and unlock the t.v. box, and the bell rang. I looked up and there was one person. I asked if anyone was coming. She was like, no. Oh. Ok. So I went home. I went to Jing Hua and got some snacks, and then I came back home. There wasn't much excitement there.. just the regular old Jing Hua. I did notice that there were Sunmaid Raisins there. That was cool... the little things, the little things. Oh, I did find another good ... read more

It's just gonna be stuff to look at this time. If you listen closely to the Jingle Bells video you can hear what I hear ALL the time. Melody went to the sports meeting to take pictures.. mostly of Kyle holding the English "Departement" flag.. and she couldn't figure out how to change it from video to picture taking. ... read more

Here are the stories and pictures from some of my classes. Nothing has been edited. When a new paragraph begins, it is a new story. One day, a famer come to our newspaper office. told us He saw a yeren. we are so surprised and let him describe it. He said ... scientist saw this picture and find us talk about it. Then we go to Shennongjia together. but see nothing. It was a dark night. A boy lost his way in forest, he was very worried and didn't know what he can do. Suddenly, A storm was coming. The boy found a hole, and he decided to stayed there until daybreak. The boy was tired. he fallen asleep quickly with cold and hungry. Suddenly, he smelt sweet smell, and felt very warm. When he opened ... read more

About time, I know... it's a lot nicer and prettier than the other one.. because a girl lived here instead of a boy. ha. So this is my humble abode now. I used to have a sign on my door that said "Ms. Brenda's Apartment", but someone took it down. I haven't gotten enough motivation to make another one yet.... read more

January: I moved to Henderson, TN to live with my friend Beth. I moved without a job prospect other than Beth telling me that Cracker Barrel would probably hire me. I searched and searched for a job to no avail. Luckily I wasn't dirt poor and had some saved up. I ate pretty cheaply (thanks to a Sonic gift card and happy hour, among other things and people). I stayed at home mostly with the exception of going all over Jackson and Henderson filling out job applications. Turns out Cracker Barrel wouldn't hire me.. though that may have been February. Either way, it was a pretty upsetting moment when I received the "We're looking for someone with more experience as a waitress" phone call. February: Lectureships at Freed - definitely the cool place to be. I ... read more
