I had such a long day. A good day, but long. Joohee and i walked to westlake, finally! It was a gorgeous day, warm with a nice breeze. We walked to the other side of the lake, to the shopping district. We hit the expensive shops first, on accident. The clothes were uglllllyyyyyy and way over priced, we stopped for coffee (second time today) to take a break. We asked the coffee lady where she shopped and she pointed us in the right direction. We trekked over to a jackpot aka super cheap awesome chinese clothes and gadgets. We wondered around looking at weird styles and outfits. I found some cool stuff but nothing in my size! Everything is soooo small. And im small! Anyways i decided to buy french fries from mcdonalds.. Bad i know. ... read more

Today was great! Im digging hangzhou more and more each day. It was the last morning in my dorm room that i have had by myself. I slept in a little, until my body (no alarm clock finally!) woke me up at 9:15, and when i opened the curtains it was a beautiful warm morning. I felt so lazy for "sleeping in" as i watched the students below me hustling and bustling to class. I put on a clean dress (wearing clean clothes makes me feel spoiled like a princess) and went across the street to get my usual banana from the crazy banana lady and a laundry bar for laundry in the sink. Joohee was moving into my room, so i cleaned up her side of the room (my hoops were sleeping on that bed ... read more

Hangzhou is beautiful! Im so happy to be here a whole month! It is pricey but very modern and westernized. We got in too early for check it at our dorms, and i was cranky from the train ride and lack of sleep. Since i have already roomed with joohee and pamela, and they hadnt roomed with each other yet, i got my own room (i would call that instant good karma =p). It is nice having my own space. I slept from 8 ish to 11 30 and was woken by my teacher for lunch. I felt much better after my nap. Lunch was tasty and we then headed to leifeng pagoda on the south side of the westlake. It is home to the story of the white snake and the scholar. It is a ... read more

Well, Jenny’s Bachelorette Party was a great success. It was mostly another KTV excursion with a few familiar faces – but it was exactly what Jenny wanted, and a good time was had by all. You may recall an entry from a few months back where I posted photos of Jenny, Blade and me hiking around Linying Temple. Please feel free to express confusion at the fact that the photos of the woman pictured here are also labeled “Jenny”… and here’s why: Those of us still working for the Mouse arrived casually late to the KTV party. We walked in to find three lovely ladies already singing their hearts out – namely, Amy, Summer and some new girl I’d never met before. I figured Jenny had brought a friend, and why wouldn’t she? It’s her party… ... read more

It's growing on me. Literally. So there you go :) Otherwise... It's been another busy couple of days! Nothing entirely NEW to report, per se, but I have been keeping myself occupied with a lot of new things. I have a small handful of friends that are not Disney-related, so it's been nice to actually take some time to completely remove myself from work once in awhile. I've had some nice walks around the city and on some of the hills, but admittedly have spent no time at all near the actual lake in several weeks. At some point, I really do need to venture down there again. In a couple of weeks, my mom will be here. So, I've also been busy making all of those plans come together. We have a very, very busy ... read more

So, it went something like this: Sara and Zoe came in to work last week with really cute haircuts. I’ve been talking about needing one for a few weeks now, so the conversation naturally went to scheduling a day when I could get mine. For several days, Zoe and I sifted through photos of both myself and various celebrities with haircuts that have worked for me. In a world where “razor cut” and “Victoria Beckham” warrant a response of, “huh??” pictures were my biggest ally. Or so I thought. Today, Zoe and I met at 3 at one of our usual haunts and headed off to the land of many scissors to get my hair cut. Now, I should take a brief moment to acknowledge some… stereotypes. Like any ignorant American, I have a back pocket ... read more

Yep. This happened. Stories from Jessica White on Vimeo. Here are the lyrics that are being projected behind me: Waking up on a Sunday morning The sun's a-rising in all her glory Another beautiful day to be spent... inside. I walk through the doors and hear children screaming, Grace on the phone, Tony singing The echoes of Linzeen's high-heels down the hall. While Little and YoYo are herding the cats I get a greeting from Jeanne: "Today you look fat!" I won't take it personally, I'm sure she meant it well. (Chorus) Well, ooh-hoo everyone has a story Every one of those stories br... read more

It is unbelievable that we are heading into our final week of March! I still cannot wrap my head around how quickly the weeks scoot by. I knew that this year was going to go by very quickly, what with it being filled with new experiences… but this is madness. The end of March brings about the beginning of April which is going to be a month filled with “firsts” and plans. Lifestyle-wise, April is going to bring a very significant change. At work, I’m going to be taking on a classload and transitioning into more of a teaching position and away from the marketing madness. We are beginning a new term altogether the first week of April, so it’s a bit like a fresh start and reboot for the center at large. April is also ... read more
