Here we are....the magic golf road trip! I did it in Scotland while I was 16 years old, and again a year after.....I did short golf road trips years after. But this is the kicking reality...good golf courses when you are not 15 years old are expensive to play...and doing them every day, even twice a day, in some corner of the world like the US and Australia very fast turn into an outrage to your credit card! Then the God of golf created South Africa. The country has over 500 golf courses...and Golf Digest is ranking every two years the top 100....all of them being pretty amazing. As of today, I have play over 40 courses of the current and last 100 top ranking in the country. Bear in mind, 3 of those are ranked ... read more

So it’s been a year now since we left our comfortable work-hard-play-hard lives in London, where life was more or less all about work and trying to spend our free time as best as we could. We traded it in for another type of life, where now there is no work at all and all we do is travel. To travel sometimes feels a bit like work we have to admit. For us it is clearly something different than holidays. We have been on the road travelling through 14 countries and we have stayed in 128 different places. We travelled 46.337 kilometres in total of which 22.100 with flights meaning around 24.000 over land and sea. The longest day of travelling by bus was 26 hours but we got really used to travelling long distances and ... read more

Laitettiin se majapaikan jääkaappiin tekstillä "Only for Finnish Visitors". Kerran norsuja meni tien yli auton edestä, kerran ohitimme norsun. Paluumatkalla soitin WhatsApissa p... read more

We walked the 75 k-ish Wild Coast Trail over the first five days of July 2017, beginning at Amapondo Backpackers in Port St. Johns and ending at Sugarloaf Backpackers in Coffee Bay. Peggy put it best - that if this walk was our only excursion in South Africa, we would leave satisfied with our trip. The scenery is spectacular and varied, the locals are friendly and accommodating, and every interaction is a cultural experience for an outsider. The weather is near perfect this time of year, with highs in the low 70sF and lows around 50, with clear skies and a low sun. The rolling terrain of the coastline has plenty of steep ups and downs, but none are sustained or overly technical for an average-ability hiker. Our experience was simply wonderful and we can't recommend ... read more

Sometimes not having set plans is the best plan. Meeting the Swiss cyclists on day 2 of my bike trip was pure luck, but led to some of the best times I had on this trip. I had intended to ride to Knysna and then back to Cape Town, but Arnaud and Anouk were going to Addo National Park to see some wildlife and we decided to go together. That meant riding to Jeffrey's Bay, renting a vehicle, driving to Addo together and then I would drive the car back to Jeffrey's Bay and they would continue their trip to Tanzania while I would ride back to Cape Town. Good plan, but with some challenges: first we had to ride to Jeffrey's Bay in one day, which was our longest ride so far, but luckily not ... read more

Another few days went by, and all of them as good or even better than the other, if that is possible. I can't say that I cycled a lot of miles, but I had an amazing time. I stayed 3 days in Knysna, with Peter and Col, 2 wonderful people that I had so much fun with. Even if they were super busy preparing their upcoming cycling adventure from Europe to Cape Town, they took the time to show me around their beautiful area. We went to the Heads, which is the entrance to the lagoon, we went to markets, we drove to the area where the rich people live in their gorgeous homes, we even watched a rugby game at the yacht club! We also had a great time looking at each other's gear and ... read more

Geo: -33.9366, 25.5709March was a pretty adventurous month in the life of the Unicorn Princess, I experienced some snow and an American St Paddies day which turned into a very disorderly one. I also decided to surprise my dad for his 50th birthday by going home for a week which was definitely worth it after seeing his reaction. I cannot believe I have been here for almost half a year, it feels as though time is flying by way too quickly and I am trying to remember all that has happened and trying to catch my breath at the same time. I left to go back to South Africa on March the 24th as my mother thought that it would be a good idea to reunite the family for dads big 50 and I had other ... read more

This week gave us an opportunity to have a real South African experience! Everything started Saturday morning with the horse back riding. Although I like animals, I was quite scared in the beginning as I've never done it before. Fortunately, all the worries were for nothing as the horses were very obedient and we did not have any problems bigger than the stop when the horse wanted to eat. We had to go through the jungles, climb the hills and were awarded with a beautiful scenery of the sea. It was unforgattable! After that there was some time to rest and enjoy the fresh breeze at the seaside. But it was only the beginning of our adventure. After a break, full of new energy, we were ready for the next stage. It was hiking through the ... read more
